  1. This is what I would like UND to look like, relentless on the forecheck, and all over the other team when they smell blood in the water. It seems we get a lead in the second period and we try to hold on, and possibly the reason we don’t score much short handed is because we aren’t very aggressive. I really think UND needs to get back to that aggressive identity they had in the past. Hopefully Berry is watching the Kraken and their success, along with the entertaining style they play.
  2. I don't know that he needs exposure, as I am certain everyone knows about him. Brad Hunt and Zach Whitecloud made out o.k. playing at Bemidji State. I actually think it is refreshing if he keeps his commitment to BSU.
  3. Unless you see Perron consistently, don’t know how you can make that determination. Also, to me grit means playing well at both ends of the ice, and judging by the plus/minus, Blake has work to do on that part of his game before he is ready to get to the next level. Thankfully, both of them are very young and it is common to have some parts of their game to work on when they come in so young. That is what is so exciting about both players, is that they have plenty of room for growth, and from their starting point that bodes very well.
  4. I think you’re not far off. Did they not think when they quit the sitting out year for transferring that it would lead to “aggressive recruiting”?
  5. Curious why you say that. Injuries to Scheifele, Morrisey, and Ehlers didn't help, and it's not like the Jets are a juggernaut. Did take Dallas to the Finals a few years back.
  6. …and #2 & #3, Perreault and Leonard, are headed to BC as well.
  7. So if you get Alex Young, do we push someone else out at some point because they aren't seeing ice time? Much like Jalun Trent entering the portal in basketball after UND took two guards from the portal, what will the consequences be? Many decry the portal, and how much we have had to use it, but in the same breath every shiny new entry, people want. It sure is tempting on a lot of guys, but then which young guy sits and potentially leaves? I've got to imagine it is a difficult choice for the coaches to pursue a talented player, not knowing the consequences for down the road. Put me in the category that the sooner the extra Covid year is gone and the portal isn't as extensive, the better.
  8. Not saying this doesn't need to happen, but if you look at our year, I would say a bigger focus needs to be on mental focus, being hard to play against, going to the areas where you score goals, and blocking shots. You can be the best skater in the world, but if you are all in the corner and leave the opposing player alone out front, you aren't getting back in the play.
  9. True, it wasn’t hard to match the first half, I was only pointing out the stark contrast on how poorly we played for instance in St. Cloud, compared to how we were skating when we played them here.
  10. Might want to get your eyes checked, as UND was playing some of their best hockey at the end, it’s just that at that point they were already behind the eight ball.
  11. I assume Hedquist was injured last game, as he had saved 28 of 28 shots, and their other goalie finished the game stopping 10 of 11. The other goalie is also playing tonight.
  12. Grayden Slipec was 1st star tonight for Chicago with 2 goals and an assist with the absence of Celibrini. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for next year when he starts getting more ice time.
  13. So what Dallas should do is to wait a second after Kaprisov gets rid of the puck and absolutely blow him up like Dumba did to Pavelski, and Foligno did to Robertson. Better chance at injury if they do that, so maybe they should change their philosophy instead of reacting to their stars being targeted.
  14. That is what it is becoming in the NHL, you touch our star like Dumba late hit on Pavelski and Foligno late hit on Robertson, and then there is retaliation. All of those hits Kleven would have been suspended for in college.
  15. That's what happens when you have to hustle to get in under the deadline.
  16. Actually feel sorry for people that need to take a negative and pessimistic slant on everything. How sad it would be to go through life not recognizing the many positives, especially after the horrible Covid years.
  17. Edmonton traded Barrie in the Ekholm trade.
  18. We have had a lot of other players over the years, but foothold was a poor choice of words. I should have said get our foot back in the door.
  19. ...but in his interview last month he said his favorite college team was the Bulldogs, so I think it is a good thing Berry clinched this deal, as lately guys like Roth and Shaugabay have turned Warroad into somewhat of a neutral ground. Needed to get a foothold back in there.
  20. McDavid - EDM Draisaitl - EDM Nugent Hopkins - EDM Pastrnak - BOS Marchand - BOS MaKinnon - COL Orlov - BOS McAvoy - BOS Nurse - EDM Makar - COL
  21. I believe that is the 18U prep team that is the varsity.
  22. So when is he set to attend UMD? Don’t know if we have room this year.
  23. Looks like Berry did a good job, since he said his favorite college team was the Bulldogs.
