  1. Berndsen and Lecavalier have decent numbers with 9 and 7 goals respectively, but the 16 year old Amy Potomak has an incredible 45 goals. Usually numbers don't tell the whole story, but in women's hockey a difference maker like that can put you over the top. Really need to use all the advantages of our facilities and hockey atmosphere to get a few more big time players here. Competing against the bigger name schools is a little different in women's hockey though, as education seems to have the main focus.
  2. http://www.sfmaaahl.com/leagues/stats_1team.cfm?clientID=2908&leagueID=7489&teamID=102788 Remember Kennedy Bobyck? She leads her team in scoring as a 14-year old, with many teammates 3 years older.
  3. Anyone know anything about the two new verbals, Sarah Lecavalier and Breanna Berndsen? I think they both were with the Pursuit of Excellence program. I wish that would help with Amy Potomak, but I believe her sister has already committed to Minnesota.
  4. Same could probably be said of Gaarder, as he was heading for division 3. The fact that he's a captain suggests he could be a Panzarella type player that will do anything for the team. As we've seen, it takes a special player to sit game after game and then be ready to go, as Panzarella did many times. Perhaps that is what this guy offers, when others might be complainers behind the scenes because they came with more credentials and think they deserve time. Who knows, but the coaches seem to have a knack finding those guys who can add to the team chemistry, rather than detract.
  5. This just in, College Hockey News to change name to College Hockey Enquirer!
  6. So would he not have met requirements for the Air Force, and they directed him to someplace they knew loved character guys, or did he have a change of heart about the military requirements? Would be interesting to know if UND became interested because of possible losses, or when approached said sure we'll take a character captain with no risk, but an upside of extra depth.

    2015 Recruiting

Would Tristan Fairchild who visited recently be a recruit for this fall? He has a nice highlight reel on Hudl.
  8. Christian Wolanin with 2 goals and 6 shots tonight to lead his team to the Eastern Conference finals against Hayden Shaw's Dubuque team.
  9. Exactly, some people would love us to be the equivalent of a weasel.
  10. I think they have to sound diplomatic because as much as UND coaches have to have a good working relationship with NHL teams, the NHL teams need to maintain a decent relationship as well because coaches with the respect of their players can sometimes have influence on player's decisions.
  11. What is even more mind boggling is that when confronted with this mistake, he still doesn't admit he is wrong. Never been a big fan of him before, but now his arrogance appears to be reflected in his inability to correct mistakes, which in my opinion deters from any journalistic credibility.
  12. What about Connor St. Clair? At least there you could say they confused two players names.
  13. I think we have to wait until all the early signings wash out before we really know what the league is going to look like. Miami already lost two big pieces to graduation with Blake Coleman and Austin Czarnik, with the possibility of losing Barber. I would guess they think Kuraly is going to stay though. I'm sure a few teams have the same situation going on as UND, not knowing what's going to happen in the weeks to come.
  14. Didn't you see Kollars Twitter post, saying how could O'Connor give up a goal like that, then said oh, wait...
  15. Curse of Brad Schlossman. So now, not only do we have to confront the question, is it nice to be in it every year with the chance to win it sooner or later, but is the great coverage Schlossman gives us, worth the possibility that he is cursing us with his presence at the Frozen Four!?
  16. Have they stayed on this long with post game stuff in the past? I know years ago they wouldn't stay even for the handshake!
  17. Yeah, can't remember NDSU losing players early to the professional ranks, nor recruits at the last minute or mid season to another competitive league. Dynasty's are more likely in divisions where that doesn't happen, that's why Alabama staying near the top is fairly impressive as well.
  18. True, but we relied on Zane quite a bit as well, and he could leave. Top that with the fact we lose 7 seniors as well, and it's all about what you get with the incoming freshmen, and that's a crapshoot.
  19. Being a bit older probably was a bit of an advantage for him, but probably offset a bit by coming from another country and having to get comfortable in another country and with the North American game. Like you said, we need four year guys that want to be here.
  20. Patrick Khodorenko, a '98 from California seems to have put up nice numbers for the national development team, and it doesn't show he's committed yet, but maybe he's contemplating Major Juniors.
  21. Thanks for posting those stats. Just goes to show you that success at one level doesn't necessarily mean success at the college level, especially early on. A lot of those guys were average college players at best.
  22. Can't find an archive for 2000-2001 USHL season, but it seems to me Brandon Bochenski, James Massen, and Brian Canady were all high in goal scoring that season. Only Bochenski carried that over to become an elite scorer in college, so it's not a given these guys will make an immediate impact in college, but you would expect given the opportunity they are going to get, one or two of them should put up some decent numbers. I really thought that Cammarata would be scoring more for Minnesota being how dominant he was in the USHL, but then again he isn't done yet, and maybe he just had a sophomore slump. I really like the fact that we have guys coming in who aren't afraid to shoot the puck, much like Bochenski.
  23. Hopefully the experience lost can be made up for in skill level, but that won't be a given. If Stecher stays and can impart his work ethic I like what we have. Imagine that Duluth and Denver would be 2 of the early favorites if there aren't any early departures, and Omaha if they can find a decent replacement for Massa will be a team to deal with. We know one thing is the league will always be a dogfight, and if you can come out of it standing you should be set up to make the tourney.
  24. From what I understand, Gino did. Word is that he was told to get new assistants and wouldn't throw his assistants under the bus and was then fired.
