I think most people that enjoy UND sports as a whole are excited about the upcoming football season, but holding that excitement has been the problem the last few years. They absolutely can’t drop the ball by losing and putting a less than exciting product on the field like they have when the excitement was there early on. Hoping Freund will help in that regard, and that they can gain momentum from an impressive opening game. We have seen the same loss of excitement in the hockey program the last few years when they drop the ball and aren’t scoring goals. Hopefully there is enough excitement to go around for both programs from the get go.

Because the only way to get people interested and excited about football is to not talk about hockey? Doesn’t give the football program much credit.

In the committed recruits thread someone posted a roster for Honeybaked with Spicer on it.

After last years draft with so many Americans, this list doesn't have a whole lot.

I personally think the atmosphere in the building needs to stem from the fans to begin with, and then the REA could expand on it. I wouldn't be banking on the Ralph to create anything but an artificial atmosphere with the "More Noise" stuff. They should play some role, but I think the real atmosphere needs to come from the fans, and that isn't as prevalent as it used to be.

Shakey's was actually in both places.

Hopefully he and Ausmus can rip it up and garner some honors in the process, warranting their early recruitment. Also looking forward to seeing Luke Bast in the USHL. Might have to get to Fargo to watch Waterloo with him, Montgomery, and Ness.

I wasn't insinuating NDSU was a bad school, just that each school has some different offerings and that most players at this level should have educational opportunities high on their list of priorities and we should fit the bill for some of them.

But they should take the school seriously and what it has to offer. Need to get a few high end guys that have nice educational fits with UND, then hopefully start to turn the tides with them, but yes, a win would do wonders to even the playing field a bit more on the possibilities of winning championships.

Agree, what is it that would make him say that we weren't fully committed to him? Does he want us to remove any competition he would have in Scheel or Thome? He probably understands what he looks like when he commits a couple times and is still looking, and wants to make it look like it was mutual this time around.

That line was pretty much most of our offense down the stretch last year.

It is funny, as some have stated most people were thinking and/or hoping that Keane wouldn't come in, and now wish he wouldn't lose a year of eligibility. Don't think a lot of people were screaming for Senden to come in before Huber backed out either.

Greg Johnson, Chad Johnson, Scott Dub, Marty Schriner, and Scott Brower all gone far too early. I feel like I am missing a few as well. Really makes you realize how short life can be. My heart goes out to all their families for such early losses.

Yeah, was curious if it had to do with the hereditary heart abnormality the article said was his reason for retirement.

I agree. Doesn't UND try to get that trip as often as they can because they get to play a couple extra games on the schedule because of the Alaska rule.

I find when people say “it’s not me it’s everybody else”, it is most likely you.

I just find it funny that the people that are so insistent that the logo be prominently displayed had no problem when the Sioux logo wasn't on the field in football or were barely noticeable on uniforms and such in other sports.

Some people who are not big hockey fans just are looking for any reason to dump on them.
