  1. You need to see a few down years so you can truly appreciate the good ones.
  2. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/4572541-adam-scheel-goes-down-injury-unds-loss-western-michigan You guys could very well be right. Haven't looked at Schlossman's other stories where he talks about injuries hitting the team, but he didn't mention JJ in this one.
  3. Looking at the forwards in future recruits, it looks like they are getting to the point where they are getting weighted more to the grinder/role player or ones that, based on junior experience may not be offensive impact players at the next level. Of course that is always impossible to tell, but if you aren't scoring in juniors you probably aren't going to go off in college. I put, Gaber, Stratton, Costello, Schmaltz, Ness, Montgomery and Albrecht into that category. I think Randklev and Mancinelli could be scorers in college, but wouldn't say that would be a sure thing. Then you have guys that could become elite, with guys like Pinto, Caulfield, Rizzo, Blaisdell, Halliday, Kunz , and Bowen. Since the four we have coming in next year have the potential to bolt after a few years, I hope we get more in the pipeline for a few years down the road. I know that James has great potential, but that is years down the road. I really like all of our defensive recruits, and just about all of them look like they can add some offense, but I sure don't want to get caught without high end forwards because a few of them bolted, and a few of them didn't pan out like they were projected to.
  4. Don't think Brad Berry would use the word "dream player" about a guy who had a bad attitude. Of course he then added he would like to see more offense out of JJ.
  5. Tomek hasn’t impressed much at Omaha either.
  6. What does this post have to do with hockey?
  7. Or maybe Nashville wants to monitor Mismash’s injury rehabilitation in another place in Major Junior. We can all just speculate, but to me it doesn’t hurt having more people on the roster since there have been plenty of times we’ve had to shift defensemen to forward. I know they have a certain number of players for the ideal roster, but if it puts you short handed, it isn’t ideal.
  8. When he committed he was. He was playing for Minot Junior team with Jon Lizotte. So with your philosophy, no Connor Gaarder, no Stephane Pattyn, etc.
  9. https://www.sjhl.ca/news_article/show/995824 Don’t think it’s strange at all. With all the young guys coming in next year, they want another older player with compete in case the younger guys take a while to play both ways, like with Adams. I like that he is a Captain, skates well, and competes hard. Sounds like a model citizen as well, so should be coachable. Obviously nobody knows how he will turn out, but Senden and Keane are playing better than some of the guys who were supposed to be scorers. I think St. Cloud finds under the radar guys like Blake Lizotte that turn out to be gems. There are guys from the other leagues that just need a chance to shine. Don’t know if we win the NCAA Championship in 2016 without a guy from the same league in Coltyn Sanderson.
  10. What reason was that?
  11. Canisius wins! Canisius wins! Canisius wins!
  12. Wonder if Berry puts the whole problem with the power play as execution. Will he make changes a year too late like Bubba Schweigert did, costing us a chance at success. Even when they score on the power play it isn’t from sustained zone time. It doesn’t pass the smell test, as even when Western didn’t score last night, it seemed like every power play they were all over us.
  13. Should definitely be in the conversation. They tend to give the top league teams more due in awards, so maybe Nolan Walker from St. Cloud or if Denver finishes out well, Cole Guttman. (Wouldn’t that be the double whammy for St. Cloud fans.)
  14. Guessing he is more of a walk on like Huber would have been. Like a Coltyn Sanderson, Josh Rieger or Brent Davidson.
  15. It's tough to say, we are tied with Denver, but they have two games in hand until they finish tonight, and they finish with Miami, Omaha, and CC, all at the bottom. Plus they have the tie break against us. We still play Duluth, and they finish at St. Cloud, although St. Cloud might have everything wrapped up by then. We still could catch Duluth too. Just hope they both don't get points. Pairwise speaking, the higher Duluth is when we play them, the higher potential we have to climb. Bottom line is we just need to take care of ourselves. Just win baby!
  16. Let's face it, we know this team can beat anybody, but right now we need to put a string of wins together, because losses will push you right back down in the pairwise. We also need to hope Denver and Duluth don't tie giving both teams points. Definitely would be huge to take care of business tomorrow and see where that puts us
  17. I agree, and they might have even mentioned them as well. Would think that is why Braden Costello hasn't been too successful in the USHL. Would only get harder in college.
  18. Did Brad pick us to sweep? Boy are we screwed!
  19. They better be looking to rectify this, as hockey across the board is moving to more speed. I don't think we are slow by any means, but some teams just pass the eye test of being speedy more than we do. Don't know if the updated locker room still has the saying "Speed Kills" in it, but it couldn't be more true today. I was listening on the XM NHL Channel and they were saying that Edmonton kind of got caught on the wrong end of the transition to speed with a few contracts of more plodding players. Of course they have McDavid that can get things done, but they aren't getting much production beyond that.
  20. Would guess he is on plenty of radars, but as you said, maybe they want to see a year without Brodzinski, or maybe some juniors before or after a season. Skating didn't look horrible in the clips, but that was a small sample, and it is tough to know how fast the other players were.
  21. Question for you, were we an Elite program under Dave Hakstol? I think you know where I am going with this, in that you railed on him forever in a day and that you could accept a few down years if we won a National Championship.
  22. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/4570277-red-river-names-interim-boys-hockey-coach-just-playoff-opener Fraud! Again!
  23. Considering you thought Hakstol was a bad coach, he should be glad of your characterization.
  24. ...and I had heard about it well before then. Does that make me a step above the GOBC?
  25. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/4570050-red-river-coach-bill-chase-placed-administrative-leave-hours-edc-tournament It says administrative leave in the Herald.
