  1. A team took a crack at Cole Caufield in the 20th round too, so you never know.
  2. What does butter our bread? Just curious because people seem to be complaining about money quite a bit around here.
  3. ...and how Cale Makar seems to have transitioned seamlessly to the NHL, having already played against 24 and 25 year olds.
  4. The point is that he dictated how he wanted the land to be used. UND didn’t have to accept the donation if they didn’t like the purpose.
  5. So you were pretty upset with Ray Richards then huh?
  6. That's the problem, in every league there are only certain players they are concerned about. How many times are offensive players penalized in the NFL for leading with their helmet? Bottom line is the Players Association needs to be involved, but by the reaction of most of the players to fighting, I don't think there is the desire to go to war on the subject. I have seen at least half a dozen dangerous hits in the NHL playoffs that didn't even get penalized.
  7. Apparently, neither do the players. If you get guys like Svechnikov just flat out not fight, then maybe it changes. The players themselves always bang their sticks against the boards after a fight. The players need to show they care about eliminating it first, then maybe things will change.
  8. So what is Schlossman’s end game in his constant rants against Bettman? Reminds me of his constant drumbeats about the women’s hockey team. Even if Bettman admitted trauma causes CTE, the players know this and choose to play the game. This can be caused by fighting as well as checking and hits to the head. We saw what happened to Pavelski. In sports like football and hockey it is going to happen. Now if he can prove the teams are forcing their guys to fight, he might have a case.
  9. Don’t think sucker punches happen all the time. The Bruins are paying for his reputation. The call against him in game 2 at the end of the period might have cost them the game. That probably doesn’t get called on most guys, but with his reputation, the refs were on the lookout.
  10. Are we putting the cart before the horse, just like we did with Kennedy. So we in essence have two lame duck leaders?
  11. I don't care what either do at 14, I am interested to see how they develop and do at the college level.
  12. We aren't going to need to worry about that with Don Lucia as our new assistant!
  13. I'm sure it will be somewhere along the lines that we need to spend more money on things to get people to come to town, instead of figuring out that decreased disposable income has caused people to prioritize spending.
  14. Don’t know, but you have nothing to lose because you will know in plenty of time to recruit a replacement.

    New Coach?

Hang on, with this Global Warming thing the tides are about to turn. Soon Pryor will be begging to move back because they will be roasting in Texas while we are playing golf in perfect temperatures in January!
  16. Lindmark and Turcotte aren’t too shabby either. If Wisconsin has enough grit guys, they could be pretty scary. Like BU, their window with a few of these guys may be pretty short.
  17. I agree, it is probably similar to those who thought Adams should have come in a year earlier when he had a decent year in the USHL. To be truthful, I don't remember if I was one of those thinking that or not. Turns out, the coaches were right in that instance, and I would imagine the scenario is similar with Rizzo. If they aren't projected as role players, let them gain strength and confidence at another level before they come in, so they won't be lost and lose confidence at the college level.
  18. Yes, I do ignore things like rankings to a large degree. I tend to focus on results. I definitely get excited about recruits rated high, but that doesn't mean squat, because just like Rizzo, they all will need to prove themselves at a higher level which is a crapshoot.
  19. I agree that expectations are high for many of these players, but my premise was that he is the one that is raising the expectations by talking about our pipeline as possibly the top or top 3. So yeah, if we don't do much in the next 2-3 years people are going to put it on Berry, either for not developing them or them not being the level people talked about.
  20. So now you are tempering expectations, when you have been touting "the pipeline" every other post?
  21. It was because he was so committed that he had to take a step back and prioritize what is important.
  22. Let’s see how it plays out. I think Donato has a big upside because his skill set and speed is where the NHL is heading. Coyle has been on a hot streak lately, but before that Donato was an impact player while Coyle didn’t do well. Time will tell.
  23. Of course they had to upgrade the black jerseys, they had some bad vibes attached to them recently.
  24. Like I said, these past couple of seasons are Karma for the pompous and haughty attitude of some of our fans. Yes, we should be proud of our accomplishments, but other teams can be proud of their accomplishments as well. It is all part of the building process.
  25. If Allison stays at Western Michigan, I can see them in the mix as well.
