I see Schlossman said that all the 16 teams in the NCAA tournament would have been the same if they didn't have overtime and the teams ended in a tie in regulation. So the question is that a good thing? I would rather have a system in which if you won in overtime, it would actually mean something. However I wouldn't want 3 on 3 to determine that right away. How about a 3 minute overtime 5 on 5 with a full win on the line, then 3 on 3 for 3 minutes for the 55%-45% scenario. At least that way if you tie it up late, you still have an opportunity to get a full win out of it.

Same way guys like Cole Spicer decommit -- they are told how great they are and they should be playing, and that it is most likely the coaches fault they aren't.

Thought someone said we weren’t on his list of potential schools.

No surprise, Daschke to Duluth.

I saw Case, and immediately thought Cedric Case, the quarterback who decommitted. Was thinking that would be a non starter for me.

Maybe Pooly should tell them not to put alcohol in their body either. That would solve a ton of issues to make sure they don't get in other trouble like throwing lawnmowers or something.

Remember this thread when a UND player has a minute substance found in their system. I imagine we’ll hear a lot of buts from the first to cast stones.

I think the bigger problem in an era where older teams seem to be in the mix at the end of the year (see Minnesota’s whining), is that we most likely will have two other guys coming of high school age, and McGlaughlin is a 2003 birthdate, so it wasn’t a great scenario to bring in another, especially with the number of returning forwards. -
I thought he was staying.

The last time they made it, they had way too much time off after their regular season ended. Would rather be sharp and a little tired than rusty. Who knows, maybe they announce membership to the NCHC right before or after our game with them this fall.

Northern Michigan seems to have done well in the portal, and I think they had a nice group coming back to begin with. Wouldn't be surprised if they give Minnesota State a run for their money next year. Who knows, Potulny might take a run at Spicer as well.

If I were the coaches, as long as he hasn't signed anywhere else, I wouldn't give up on this. To me, I would have some NHL scouts talk to the kid and his family and explain that his development would be better if he played another year of Juniors, and that being a possible late round pick, there is no hurry to move on to college. To the contrary, moving too fast could end up ruining his development. Doesn't hurt, as long as that bridge isn't burned, and I would hope that UND still is open to communication. -

https://www.usahockeyntdp.com/news_article/show/1184702 Maybe he thinks he is like his hero Toews. Seriously, how does a person's mindset change so drastically. You would think that someone in his inner circle would have some rational thought for what is in his best interest. -

No, although I am sure they would like to get a little older and experienced, and that is probably what this is all about. You already most likely have Blake, McGlaughlin, and James coming in who are 2003 birth dates, so having a 2004 stay another year in Junior hockey doesn't seem that crazy. -

Shouldn’t Panzer’s be the first family? They have actual accomplishments at high levels. -
Remember when Hakstol flipped the bird and Minnesota fans were appalled at how classless that was. So, it seems odd that a bunch of Minnesota fans sent money through Venmo to pay Ryan Hartman’s fine for flipping off Kane. Go figure, Minnesota fans being inconsistent with their disgust.

I will wholeheartedly agree with this. I think he is getting some bad advice. Now if his goal is more school oriented, I can understand, but if he is looking at wanting to make a profession out of hockey, it seems silly for him not to play that extra year of juniors. You don’t often hear of players screwing up their career by being a big impact player at one level before moving on to the next. He is no Logan Cooley, but perhaps he thinks there are others starting college that he is as good as. If he screws up his development by rushing to the next level when he may not be ready, he has no one to blame but himself and his advisors if he flames out because of it. Would have loved to find a way to make room for him by trimming the roster other places, but I guess Alpha may be correct, that if he didn’t see much ice time he may just enter the portal anyway. We’ll see if he and his family end up regretting trying to rush him along. -

I guess we will see how the rest of the roster shakes out, but I guess if you are going to lose potential talent I wouldn’t mind bringing in someone from the portal who has proven themselves in college already. -

Do you see him above Albrecht, Montgomery, Budy? Sometimes you need to make tough decisions in order to keep potential talent around. He might not be ready, but if he had to sit like some of those guys did, so be it. Would rather keep the higher ceiling guys around. After all, we brought in Brent Johnson over Morrow, and one could see early he wasn’t physically ready for the college game, but we have someone with good potential going forward. -

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/cole-spicer-makes-it-a-hat-trick-of-local-commitments-for-und So are we losing the most talented of the three, and then not make tough decisions on the others if they don’t produce in juniors? -

You would think that there would be a conversation anyway. Will Montgomery go back to juniors? Would rather lose him than Spicer. -

I guess my biggest problem with this is the perceived lack of communication in some of these circumstances. Somebody said they believed Spicer's family believed he was coming in this year. I know you ultimately need to do what is best for your team in the upcoming season, but I believe you need to know the player's thoughts that are being left behind. I hope this isn't a circumstance that the coaches took for granted that this local boy is coming here no matter what, so we'll push him off without getting input. Not sure what happened, but you can't afford to lose talented local recruits. -

Didn't Mankato have as much, if not more NCAA tourney experience than Denver? -
It seems less likely if James is coming in as somebody said. Would think there would need to be some defections pretty quick to make room for someone outside.

I can't think of anyone after Mismash.
