You should be very proud. The entire graduating class of 2012 looks up to you.

Linebackers are very good but hard to say they are better than one of the best defensive units in the country consistently. They really have to prove it and play at the level of late last year and not the early part of the year. I'd give the nod to NDSU
-
Not sure if we'll get one. UND will have a lot of new faces in some key positions on defense. Not one skill position on offense is decided. Offensive line is a question mark. NDSU is the 4 time defending champ. The last few years they have recruited and signed who they have wanted. They are good and have depth. Regarding check marks- Maybe kicker.

Biggest need in my opinion, and this applies to all sports is the new weight facility and meeting rooms. Phase 2 has to get going as soon as approval is given by SBoHE. Your points above are very good.

That is what some of us have been asking. Just get the NCAA to put in writing that being known as the University of North Dakota satisfies the agreement to seperate UND from the Fighting Sioux name. -

People on here have all sorts of opinions. No one of those people has wrote a letter to the editor, called radio stations or planned protests but those are ok right. At the end of the day it should be a factor in the decision. If it's all good with the NCAA than the leadership needs to come out and say so. -

It hasn't been brought up by any decision makers or UND personnel this go around. How are they using it as a scare tactic. It's only been brought up by me and a few others on this board as something that officially needs to be addressed as the NCAA has proven time and time again it plays by its own set of rules. -

It's not too difficult. What terms were agreed upon 3 years ago and does being know as the University of North Dakota _________ meet that requirement as the main reason for not selecting a name is to fill the blank above with Fighting Sioux. Does that satisfy the NCAA so they don't come back and threaten sanctions on UND. Dude. -

Any statement from the NCAA if not selecting a nickname moves the school any further from the Fighting Sioux name and satisfies the signed agreement in place. -

Has anyone come out and stated not selecting a nickname satisfies the agreement signed by the NCAA and the state of North Dakota? -

Article is below, the man is an alum, letter winner and is as passionate about UND as anyone. He also has some outside knowledge of the recruiting game. For me the biggest question is if no nickname satisfies the agreement signed by the NCAA and state of North Dakota. http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/former-sioux-football-coach-dale-lennon-says-und-losing-recruits-already -

Has the NCAA or anyone stated that no nickname moves UND away from the Fighting Sioux name? I must have missed that -

There is a non UND coach on record stating the nickname was being used against UND. He had no reason to toe any line as he was not a UND employee. That was when there were sanctions. Again, I am waiting from someone to come out and answer the question of what meets the NCAA requirements per the signed agreement. -

The answer continues to be that either Kelly or someone on the committee needs to come out with a black and white answer from the NCAA ragarding their stance with remaining Notth Dakota. That has not been answered and even you cannot for certain give their position. It has been documented, pretty well actually, in the past that any NCAA sanctions vs UND were hurting sports in recruiting. -

Playing in one of the top hockey facilities in the world will never hurt recruiting. Having the ability to have one of the best payed coaching staffs in the country doesn't hurt. Only competing against 60 other programs wiyh the other two mentioned above in your back pocket definitely helps. -
Really lacked with the past coaching staff. The new coaching staff really developed guys with only a spring and fall last year. They say they had a good spring and had great participation this summer including getting nearly all freshmen on campus early. Time will tell but I've liked the change in player development so far.

Nobody knows for certain on recruiting. I couldn't tell you for sure about other offers, honestly I don't care. Maybe if UND had two fans who were constantly tweeting potential recruits like another school we would have some answers. I also don't mind your questioning of high school athletes college potential but after a quick scan of your own teams board did not notice any of the same towards your own fanbase. Weird.

In multiple posts you have mentioned rebranding North Dakota. Give me some ideas and explain how that can't be done with a new nickname in place. We will use the Notth Dakota moniker with or without a nickname behind it. I personally don't see a lot of it selling with or without a nickname. How would you rebrand the name you share with a state? -
Vote on your final 5 nickname choices (just ND is out)

Not forming multiple committees only to possibly disregard the final committees output. Get an opinion from the NCAA on what will be acceptable and make it public knowledge. Release the statement made today about a year ago when the process started. If you truely are the final decision maker, your desired outcome and reasons why should be layed out from the beginning. -

It maybe moves the protest from Grand Forks to Indianapolis. -

What was the point of the time and effort of the committee if he wasn't going to follow through with their recommendations. Someone got his ear and he went against the process that was set up by another committee he was part of appointing. Ultimately, he went against the process he was responsible for setting up. Maybe he should have just got all his big donors in a room and they could have put their list together. Personally, the statement President Kelly made today, should have been made when the process began. The only thing I would have added is the NCAA's stance on if North Dakota is acceptable. One can assume it is or isn't but no one has addressed that on record. There can be no grey area on this and finding out one way or the other after the fact is too late. -
Depth a concern?
-
I'd say he is putting his big boy pants on and sharing his experiences. He is also putting this out there for everyone to see and read and putting his name to it.

The no nickname option did go to the vote of the committee and lost.
