  1. Michigan add men's lax for 2012, women's for 2013
  2. $30 + million would yield a very nice indoor practice /training / study facility, which is exactly what we need now. If done right, it could form the east grandstand for an eventually refurbished Memorial Stadium.
  3. Likely early next week. Bismarck Tribune link
  4. While I have definitely have concerns about the potential of a continued NCAA sanctions, the story isn't over and the Fat Lady hasn't sung. In spite of the Forum mocking and ridiculing him today in their editorial, Earl Strinden is still more plugged in than anyone on this board or some Fargo Forum "journalist" writing B.S. editorials. If he is confident there will be an NCAA meeting after the legislature has adjourned, all the chicken little sky is falling stuff on this board is just not worth an ounce of anxiety. Link
  5. They'll always be "publicly" concerned, but privately Fullerton may actually pulling for us. Bottom line for the Big Sky is financial: the Sioux name has no impact whatsoever on the Big Sky conference's finances.
  6. The Forum's Zaleski and who ever else helps write those editorials may be the most juvenile writers around.. Almost reminiscent of the Forum's editorial lambasting the Alerus Center as a "tin shed" compared to the Fargodome, because the Forum had Ralph envy. Is the Forum using the middle school fans on Bisonville as ghost writers?
  7. This guy may just be a diamond in the rough, that really didn't a chance to display scoring ability in high school, as three of his teammates were scoring machines: Marquis Teague, a big time PG committed to Kentucky R. J. Hunter, a Junior and son of IUPUI's former coach, who has offers from Vandy, Wake Forest, Va Tech, Zavier Hunter, a Sophomore, and all-city, Thought Gentry's strength was in the transition, but appears he can hit outside shots: Indy Star link
  8. Wonder that too. Like could a player or two transfer to Benedictine to join Ryan Moody? Since Benedictine is an NAIA school, transfers and scholarships shouldn't be an issue.
  9. EWURanger: Presumably, you've become acquainted with the rube bison fans. Please don't prejudge us based on their behavior.
  10. April 19th and still no home baseball games have been played. We really need some kind of dome or bubble for college baseball at UND. We would need that for lacrosse, too. Oh wait, we already have that.
  11. Congrats on the historic occasion! Are most of the lax players also hockey players? Do they think it helps their hockey skills?
  12. New Yorker: Kuwait on the Prairie
  13. If you still believed in America and it's promise, the spring of 2009 was perhaps the most opportune ever to invest. You could have been retired now! The left battled correctly for civil rights, but those same people have no clue and could care less about property rights, which is just as important ingredient to make economic progress.
  14. UND volleyball at Minnesota Looks like UND was invited to Minnesota's spring invitational, which also included Iowa, Wisconsin, and NDSU. Since official matches didn't occur, guess that made it O.K. by Minnesota's standards.
  15. What is clear is that you are so giddy about the potential for trial and travail to befall UND, the shear anticipation will keep you from sleeping. The NCAA has far bigger issues - like the latest Auburn cash-payment charges - that if it dared disrupt UND's transition when far more corrupting influences are present, the media and Congress would be on its case.
  16. Un-American Reservations - Lack of Property Rights unfairly burdens Indian economic freedoms So in a sense, the United State government unwittingly imposed the idea of a socialist collective upon Indian tribes, which has proven to be a massive economic failure, much like HUD housing in inner cities. Both allow very limited property rights. What's especially ironic is that the primary beneficiaries of the current system are the Indian leaders, who on each reservation bestow benefits upon their favorites, much like the Kremlin does. With each change in leadership, what was once "owned", may no longer be, creating an impossible situation for commerce and borrowing. It should be no surprise that these same Indian leaders would claim that nicknames are a form of discrimination, almost as a method of justifying their behaviors and lack of progress. That our supposedly intellectuals among us - college professors - should claim that discrimination from nicknames are a cause of poverty just goes to show how detached their ideals are from real economic understanding. Many college professors have socialist leanings, so they thought that Indian reservations have socialist economic policies that are failing miserably is not something they want highlighted.
  17. If Mayo is buying Altru, that could really shake up the medical side of things in the Valley. Sanford looked to be on its way to a monopoly. If Mayo is in the picture, Sanford may have reasons for concern, as outlying hospitals and clinics may align with Mayo. Also, if Mayo establishes a presence in Grand Forks, wouldn't they want in to Fargo also? Mayo has a corporate culture that doesn't tolerate 2nd rate. That should be good for Grand Forks. Wasn't there talk that Sanford would provide funding for an indoor practice center? If Mayo is coming in, doubt Sanford would follow through.
  18. It's probably pretty safe to say they give a 1-2 ft cushion now. In 1997, they were off by 5 ft. If a 56 ft crest had been originally been predicted instead of 49 ft, whole households with furniture would have been evacuated weeks before the flood in neighborhoods that would have had to be sacrificed to save the rest of the city.
  19. Not football related, but on topic: Disbanded UNO wrestling program may "transfer" to Maryville
  20. My initial comments were correct. NCAA backs out of Bismarck meeting An open meeting allows a media circus, which the NCAA wants no part of (the NCAA has plenty of media circuses that are non-manufactured - they don't want to walk into one). That said, nothing is preventing the State of ND and the NCAA from having extended phone individual phone conversations.
  21. Thought UBC would have moved up two years ago, as there has been a lot of political pressure from the CIS and other Canadian schools to prevent UBC from moving to the NCAA. The pressure on them to stay has only increased. Guff that I get from places like bisonville, an echo chamber for myopic knuckleheads, is a badge of honor.
  22. Interest by UND: Lenny Austin, 6'1" SG, Quebec, #14 of top 100 Canadian recruits Marquis Clayton, 5'10" PG, Ontario Richard Audu, 6'3", SG, Ontario Bikram Gill, 6'7" PF, Ontario Chris Joseph, 6'1" PG, Quebec List of 2011's top Canadian recruits
  23. Neither Alex Richter (6'5", Lakeville, MN) nor Michael Emge (6'4", Faribault, MN) have signed yet, although Rivals is still showing UND interest
