Nice win - this is developing into a great program Congrats to coach and players

Think Mussman has done a great job so far - make your case.

Agreed that our QB is the equivalent of a red-shirt freshman. However, who's been in charge of recruiting for the past 4 years - Mussman? The fact that we don't have an experienced QB is a reflection on him. If we have to rely on being careful and methodical at this point in our home opener against a team that doesn't give scholarships, that says a lot to me - none of it real positive. The fact that you think this "redshirt freshman" gives us something at QB that we haven't had for a couple of years says a lot too about our transition. Bottom line is that we need something to be fired up about and Mussman is giving us vanilla all the way.

Ok, I might have been a little harsh on the Swimming and Diving team. The men's BB team has progressed - they are no longer getting beat by the DAC teams like Mayville State. The move to D1 was mainly pushed by the "football only" crowd. We heard two completely opposite whines from them. Before the move it was "we can't compete in recruiting with NDSU because they are Division I". After the move it was "we can't get any top recruits because we aren't playoff eligible". OK football program, it's time to put up or shut up. Two years ago we got smacked by an NAIA school. Last year 3-8. So far this year we look uninspired with the addition of trashy high school quality video for our games. We don't appear to try to take it to anyone. A full year of this scheme and there will be about 5000 people and no students at home games. Time to show us that we're ready to compete.

At the risk of being labeled a hockey only fan (I'm not, but have been very critical of Mussman and the product he puts out), I have to agree with Bob that the crap they put up on the screens is downright embarrassing. Fire the crowd up with sharp, aggressive play. Please dump the video crap that makes us all look like idiots. I know they are trying to fire up the crowd, but do it with play on the field. During the Lennon years we didn't need this high school side-show.

I think this is a question many more football fans need to ask. At least I haven't heard the "we're doing the move to D1 right" drivel lately. We aren't with the exception of the volleyball team.

It's not all the lack of a conference although the lackluster schedule is a big part. It's also lackluster play from Mussman's teams for the past couple of years. Absolutely nothing to get excited about.
-
It's been mentioned before, but what's with the faded pea green color - the uniforms are horrible - that's not Sioux green

Tom Miller was correct in his article in the Herald about attendance. In my opinion this program is extremely lucky to get a "do over" this year in terms of having a fired up crowd, especially the students after driving all but the most die hard fans and most of the students away with their play last year. Although a win is a win, I saw little yesterday to make me believe that we can hold the enthusiasm this year. When we play a team on our level who does give scholarships we need to step it up. In addition, our schemes on both sides of the ball leave little to get excited about. We had some nice hits and individual plays, but Mussman's teams are really in search of an identity. I hope they find one soon.
-
That's not the feel I get - this is the same lackluster package on both sides of the ball we have seen for several years. Not much imagination - seldom blitz, very few deep passes. We had some good play, but overall I was not impressed with the O line - against Drake we should have gotten a much better push. A win is a win, but I didn't see much to get excited about. Putting up 16 against a non-scholarship team is nothing to get excited about and we need some excitement in this program.
-
We need that kind of buzz again - In addition to the wins, the team had a "take no prisoners" style that caught the fan's attention especially on defense - I wish we would return to that aggressive style Did we even have a blitz package last year?
-
I'm hoping for over 10,000 - however with our home schedule this year, an uninspired performance and things could go south in a hurry - You saw that at the end of last year with about 30 students in attendance and gone by half-time. We need to do something to get the buzz back about football. The Sioux Falls loss cost us big time in terms of attendance, enthusiasm, and pride. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. Time to get back to the Sioux Football Program that we expect.
-
After watching both returning quarterbacks play last year, if Bradley hasn't decisively beaten them out already, I'm officially worried.
-
With a name like Smoggy, it makes sense
-
You must like it when teams go into a "prevent" defense too I hear your point, but giving up 10 yards a play anytime our opponents want isn't my kind of defe se I wish we'd get up In someone's grill once in a while Last Year it felt like the whole game was on prevent mode
-
It,s hard to have any kind of pass coverage when your corners are at least 10 yards off of the receivers
-
But enough about the Bison We've had some pretty slow years under Mussman including last year's 3-8 and the most humiliating defeat I can remember since I have been a Sioux fan (60's) - Sioux Falls State Time to Cowboy Up and beat some people or step aside and let someone who can run this program Time to get some buzz about the Sioux We need to get better in a hurry
-
Agreed - some of the games are pathetic If we don't put up 50 on Sioux Falls State Mussman should do the right thing and resign - We need to wash the taste out of our mouths of the worst Sioux loss ever
-
This is pathetic and is an indication of the way things are going at UND. Someone needs to tell Kelley that we don't do things this way in North Dakota Having a hatchet woman come in and do this kind of dismissal to someone who has dedicated their life to UND and being conveniently out of town is disgraceful. Maybe this is the Wyoming way, but here we treat loyal people with dignity and respect I'm disgusted

We suck at dice rolling

Stupidest sign ever done by a bunch of pointy heads - it makes it hard for normal people to give their support
-
Good thread - I agree with almost all of your assessment One of the strengths of our program and one of the reasons people are still high on Hak is the culture he has created. A real strength of our program I also liked the pace of this season - no underachieving for the first half and a furious rally the second. I think this gets us into the playoffs in much better shape Although I am not a huge fan of dump and chase and the continuous cycle, I saw signs of some great offensive creativity this year. When we buzz we torment people.

Agree with your frustration 0 for 5 isn't what Sioux Hockey is all about

Not the banner we want

Is it asking too much for the best team in the country to actually get set up on a power play - let's not waste our opportunities
