The talent seems to be there - nice job of filling some holes. Now, I think the main difference-maker will be if coach can run the team, or if the players who want to "showcase" themselves get control. If these guys can play together like, say a Dave Gunther coached team, the sky is the limit. In my opinion, Coach Jones has some work to do in this regard.

This is pure speculation - I have no facts to back this up, but it seemed to me that Dell came into last season out of shape - he certainly put on weight. His performance the first half was certainly not what I expected from an All-American. It seemed like he had to play his way into shape. He had an outstanding year two years ago, mainly due to his positioning and the fact we had studs in front of him. I expected him to improve last year, and it seemed like most of the year he regressed.

As far as I am concerned, the future is now. The question is do we have enough coming in to get it done this year. Losing our studs last year and this year hurts compared to other teams (gophs, Michigan) who didn't. I'm not sure this class is among our best. We need to reload fast and hard and get number 8.

Agreed that we have had some good goalies going into the frozen 4. When have we had a goalie really cowboy up in the tourney and steal one (we've had it done to us) In my opinion, many of our recent season ending losses have been in part due to lackluster goaltending. We need someone to be a stud when the chips are on the line. Time to find some magic

Exactly - Parents these days are so protective of their kids and never want them to have any consequences - any time there is an upset, parents come charging in and complain - never say anything to the student. I'm not sure if Leeds HS is wrong or not - we'll never know because of privacy laws the school can't respond. That's why this parent coming on this board to rip a school who can't by law reply is so obnoxious. The parents need to take it to the school, not a public forum they have never participated in until they decided to "shame" the school. The parents know this forum will be one sided, because the school can't by law respond. Grow up and deal with it at the local level. Stop using Siouxsports for a one-sided form for your personal grievances. In your words "stop being asses".

Ok - let's understand this - a hardworking Sioux coach who is successful and bleeds Sioux Green is let go because he didn't quite get things done and we need to go in another direction. Does this sound familiar to anyone with a 6 year contract? Hak can have any staff he wants, but a precedent is being set here. Get it done!

Another BC championship? What? - amazing - especially since I have it on good authority from many of the posters here that under today's format it is virtually impossible to win one, let alone 4. I hear that because of the 16 team format that the stars must align like never before. The odds of a team winning 4 in the last 10 years are about a bajillion to one. Time for the Sioux to get back on track!!!

According to some on this board, winning a championship is almost impossible under today's format. BC must be the luckiest team alive. We used to be the team that won more than anyone.

Why all of the criticism for the thread starter and none for Huff and company? I have been following Sioux BB since the 70's and can't remember anyone else behaving like he does. Coach needs to be control and not afraid of his players. Coach Daddy's reflexive defense of Jones non withstanding, this has been a serious issue for the Sioux. Jones needs to be in charge. He has a non-productive senior class on scholarship and a group of talented sophomores that he can't control. Things need to change. No one should be bigger than the program.

We can't continue to play 10 -12 yards off the receivers and hope to be a good defensive team. There was no shut down mentality at all - things were a little better last year, but we play so loose we get the death of 1000 cuts - giving up chunks of 5-10 yards almost at will at times

I haven't followed that closely so maybe someone can help me out here - how can a program with argue-ably the best two players in the country and the WCHA rookie of the year get pounded like this. Don't we have anyone else - haven't we recruited anyone else? Just wondering? I hate to see our season end like this.

Sorry - In counting BC's 3 championships since we last won one I neglected to see that none were back to back.

There is no question in my mind that part of the job expectation of the Fighting Sioux Hockey Coach is to win some national championships. Hak has done a great job in some areas - recruiting, developing NHL talent, giving us a unified team that plays Fighting Sioux Hockey, and this year squeezing a ton out of a depleted line-up. However, we need a championship soon. I'm not buying the argument that it is almost impossible with the format and also because of the quirks of fate that have been against us. Of course it's hard. That's why it is special. When can we be the team that steals one with a hot goalie or that comes up with a game plan that disrupts a superior team? If it takes so many breaks to win one then the Gophers, Denver, and BC must have been off the charts lucky to go back to back. I hate to see our view of National Championships change from something we expect to happen to something that will only come if the stars align. During Gino and Blais's tenures we won at a rate of about 1 every 5 years. I am not saying Hak should be fired. He's getting great talent and giving us good teams. Just time to make one more step. We have the best program, fans and facilities in the country. Time to get it done.

Time for coach to get control of his team. This is a make or break moment for him. He needs to set the tone or we will have years of undisciplined me first play (much like a major part of this season) No one is bigger than the team - time to step up and take control

Come on Jones - time to "coach em up". Any team who is this crappy on the road (and has been for a long, long time) has some serious issues that need a coaches attention.
