  1. It was good to see Edwards on the list of top senior OLs - even though it appears he will play defense for us. We have offers out to at least two other WI players who are in the top 5-6 in their positions: S Holcomb from Germantown and LB Goff from Middletown. I know we have interest in some of the others but do not know if they have offers. Wisconsin Rapids' Brady Goska is listed as one of the top DBs. He must be Brent's brother. I don't know if we are recruiting him or not. He is 6'1", 185 and wants to go into business - would appear to be a good fit!
  2. It kind of sounds like he doesn't want people thinking that he is "following" Mollberg to UND. Apparently he is also talking to SU.
  3. You make a very good point, I should have acknowledged that. There is no question that UND has really been proactive in their efforts to help Minot - I would guess more so than any other North Dakota university!
  4. As many of you know, Sunday's game with Minot was scheduled to assist the city in raising flood relief funds. One of the ways to help is to purchase a "virtual ticket"" to the game. They cost $10 each and all the $ go to flood recovery. I purchased a couple of tickets yesterday. They were numbered XXXXXX09 and XXXXXX10. I don't know but I am afraid that this means only 10 tickets of this type had been sold. If so, it won't help the cause much and it could be a little embarrassing for UND that more fans didn't "step up". If you can afford to do so, I strongly recommend going to fightingsioux.com or Ticketmaster and make a purchase. I am quite sure it is tax deductible and there is no service fee. This is pasted from the fs.com website (I think this link works): Support Minot - Virtual Tickets Help support the Minot Area Community Foundation! Purchase your "virtual" ticket for the game on October 30th in Minot. All the proceeds from this ticket go to help Minot in their flood recovery. ***Please note that this is a virtual ticket and is not valid for entry to the game.*** Virtual Tickets
  5. Great news! Thanks for keeping us updated on these two talented kids? Ira - has Mollberg had any injury problems prior to this year?
  6. Very nice to see a couple more commitments. I agree that Edwards appears to have gotten a lot of attention as an OL but he will have very nice size for a NG. Glad to see that the Rich verbal was firmed up. I truly hate to see a quality HS athlete miss any games in his senior year but I would guess that Mollberg having another injury helps our cause!
  7. Jake Schany, 3 Star LB from NE, has verballed to Ohio.
  8. My prediction is very similar to those above: UND 27 CP 23
  9. While I make it a practice of not getting into a dialogue with an SU fan, I will inform Sioux fans that we have (or had) two other offers out to QBs besides Tonyan. One is a 2 Star with Scout. Regarding my first comment above, there are some Bison fans on here who are respectful and rational in their comments and I respect that. However, I do not visit any SU boards and I wish no SU fans visited ours. The ongoing pissing matches get very old!!!
  10. Robert Tonyan, a QB from McHenry, IL who we had offered, verbaled to Indiana State today. It is likely that we withdrew the offer after the Mollberg commitment.
  11. Please keep the updates coming.....
  12. This does really hurt - I understand that the staff thought we had a decent chance of landing him!! He had a good visit here and got along with the other players well.
  13. How in the heck does SDSU offer 193 scholarships (UND has 183) - they must a lot more kids on equestrian scholarships than we have in men's and women's hockey!!! They also have wrestling and men's tennis but I wouldn't think that the overall total would be higher than ours!
  14. Another offer: S Ben Holcomb, 6'4", 200, Hermantown, WI For those of us who have been followiing UND FB for years, you many remember that for many years we had at least one starting safety who was 6'4" or 6'5". They were some great players: Voelker, Woleske, etc.
  15. As noted above, UND offered Prior Lakes Carson Shanks (now 7'1") some time ago. He recently picked up an offer from Utah State to go along with earlier offers from CSU and UNI. We, along with many others, are interested in St. Cloud Cathedral's 6'11" Connor Voss. He is a project but is improving, still growing and with two more years of HS ball, he could become a "player"! Both these guys attended a Gopher FB game in early September. I would guess that UM will likely go after Shanks - who knows about Voss. It is good to see UND trying to get in on some young "bigs" like this. Also as noted above, we have an offer out to another junior, Luke Worthington, a 6'8", 230 PF from WI.
  16. We have had the debate about whether Mussman deserved our votes each of the last 2-3 years. I will again state my thoughts that the highest he finishes, the better it looks to potential recruits and the more likely we are to land a prospect. It is likely a very small factor with only a few kids but it can't hurt. Therefore, I urge everyone to vote - everyday!
  17. Hope I'm wrong..... SUU 42 UND 24
  18. UND had offers out to three other QBs besides Mollberg. I am sure they will continue talking to these guys and others. That being said, I would guess that a couple of the offers have been withdrawn.
  19. Another offer - WR from IN. Logan Cunningham, 5'11", 180 with 4.4 40 - if accurate, that is great speed. Also has offer from IL St.
  20. All the above being said, you can go to the bank with the assumption that we will have at least two scholarships available for next year.
  21. Despite my posting the scholarship criteria, I didn't think it was correct so I went back and checked a second source. It said basically the same thing. I still don't think it is right but posted it anyway - shouldn't have. I found the correct definition of a headcount sport: For a headcount sport, each athlete on scholarship counts toward the maximum headcount the school can have on scholarship, so whether a player is given a full athletic scholarship or given only one dollar, s/he is counted toward the headcount for that sport. Since a men’s basketball team can only have thirteen scholarship athletes in their headcount, a school might as well offer thirteen full scholarships so it can attract the thirteen best players possible. For headcount sports, full scholarships are more common. The list is not long. Men’s headcount sports are basketball and football, and women’s headcount sports are basketball, gymnastics, tennis, and volleyball.
