  1. Would someone who has been through the FB recruiting process at UND provide some insight into what takes place during a typical weekend? Do the recurits normally arrive on Friday (hopefully, the answer is yes so they were at last night's game)? If they arrive on Friday, I assume they depart on Sunday morning? Often parents accompany their kids, do parents go to the hockey or BB games and sit with their kids or is it just the recruits hanging out with each other? Is a current player assigned as a host to each recruit? If so, is that normally determined by where the recruit lives (a recruit from WI is hosted by a WI player). Is position a factor - I would guess that maybe specific position is not but a recruit who plays defense is likely hosted by a defensive player? Rather than players, the host certainly could be one of the coaches - I am sure they are very involved in the weekend's activities. Obviously, a recruit gets a tour of campus, the Alerus, the Ralph & the Betty, FB offices and weightroom (unfortunately), meets with academic advisors - especially if they know what field they want to go in to. Are the tours individual or are the players together for all of this (other than the academic discussions)? Where are the recruits normally taken for meals? I am sure it isn't fast food but how upscale do they go? Regarding last night.... How much snow is on the ground up there? I know you are having your first real dose of winter right now (wonderful timing) but it looks like it will be fairly nice today and tomorrow - hopefully, weather will not be a detriment in a kid making up his mind about UND. Anything else of note? Your insight would be welcomed - thanks!
  2. If they didn't use that location for the IPF, it would be handed (appropriately so) to EERC for their expansion. From what I understand, it would cost a ton to get the old REA back into shape for hockey/concessions, etc.
  3. As soon as I typed that, I realized he was scheduled here next weekend. There is confusion whether he will be at UND or SU next weekend, however.
  4. I notice Jahn is not on the list - I suppose that means he is at SU this weekend despite earlier reports he would be here.
  5. Welcome to the board. I look forward to hearing from you and other students regarding UND athletics and how students can be inspired to attend events other than (along with) hockey.
  6. Good question! My money will be on Scheels as they don't have to knock down a building and put up a new one!!! Regarding Scheels - does anyone know why it will be a couple of years before they open? It seems odd they would make that announcement so far in advance!
  7. The 3D visualization is pretty cool. Hopefully, this will be announced soon. It will give us all something very positive to look forward to.
  8. Just saw this - will do so!
  9. MSU's Ash won along with Les Miles, Pittsburg's Tim Beck and Glenn Caruso from St. Thomas.
  10. For the most part, I agree with your comments. I'm curious what specifically you would like to take place, short-term and long-term?
  11. I would guess that our concern about not having scholarships available for next year will be a moot point quite soon!
  12. I hope you are right but it would be very coincidental for a QB to "fall into our laps" within such a short window of time!
  13. I appreciate your note and wish your son the best of luck!
  14. I fully expect that, with three new QBs coming in, the one or two of the current QBs will not be suiting up for spring ball.
  15. I am also curious - sounds like there may be a good reason other schools passed on him!
  16. It is interesting to note that Indiana State and UND each made offers to QB recruits Ryan Bartels and Robert Tonyan. Tonyan verballed to them and we got Bartels!
  17. I don't disagree with you at all.
  18. I have confidence in our coaching staff that they are not going to "waste" any scholarship $ if it isn't warranted!
  19. Some young players, whose lives have revolved around BB for the last few years, can not handle the fact that they are not playing (even though they are practicing). They get themselves in trouble - inside or o/s the university. Other players use the redshirt year not only to continue to develop their game, their strength, etc. but they also use the year to adapt use to college life, going to classes (making the necessary grades in some cases), freedom from parents, being away from their GF, etc. When a coach has a concern about the first possibility, they are much more apt to agree with an athlete's request not to redshirt. There have been numerous examples of this over the last 20 years on the men's side. In some cases, it was absolutely the right decision. In other cases, it was not. I will also comment that I think the majority athletes know before they arrive on campus whether they will redshirt or not. That discussion is part of the recruiting process. Some kids are very agreeable to redshirting, others will rule you out if they think they will be redshirted their first year. My comment above was not intended to relate to Gentry and Antwi. I have no insight into their situations.
  20. Logan Cunningham, WR from IN who we had offered, has verbaled to UNI.
  21. You are correct that SU has offered Farnlof. UNI had offered Pierce at one point but it must have been withdrawn. I agree that it would be a major "get" if we landed either Michaelson or Pierce - not likely to happen!
  22. See above - as you probably know, the recruits have offers from schools that are underlined. It is my understanding that each of these kids is high on our priority list. I guess that would be confirmed by the number of offers they have.
  23. Jake Rademacher, LB who we had offered, will walk on at Wisconsin.
