  1. First, I applaud and thank you for your support. Regarding being out gunned and everybody thinking the Alerus is fine, I don't necessarily think that is the case. I would guess most of us would prefer to have a larger stadium on campus. I am afraid that it just isn't feasible anytime in the next 10-15 years. Keep the passion!
  2. I appreciate your passion! Unquestionably, you "think big" which is normally quite commendable. However, much of what you continue to talk about requires huge amounts of cash. Where do you expect UND to find that kind of money? It would be great if another Ralph & Betty came along but that is highly unlikely. UND has its hands full financially just making the transition: more scholarships to fund, higher salaries, adding more employees, escalating tuition affecting the cost of scholarships, major travel expenses in all sports just to compete at the DI level, major recruiting expense due to the expansion of our recruiting footprint (not many kids are driving to GF to see what UND has to offer), etc. I need to ask the question: as a "loyal UND supporter", have you made a financial commitment to assist the athletic department meet these expenses and plan for the future? I don't remember if you are a student or not. If so, then you probably don't have the means to do much yet. I would hope that you do (or will) write as large of a check as possible every year to help UND athletics prosper. If you are not doing so or don't intend to do so, you may want to be a little less vocal and do a little less second-guessing about UND's desire to move forward. I do realize that "writing as large of a check as possible" represents a full spectrum of dollar amounts. Some folks certainly can afford much more than others but the smaller amounts are also extremely important! I do think we will hear more about the IPF quite soon - that will be a much-needed addition to UND's athletic facilities. However, complaining that there is no long term plan for a new stadium just doesn't make sense. UND leadership has too much to do to keep their arms around all that is happening today to spend a great of time planning for a stadium that will cost milllions of $. That isn't going to materialize anytime soon unless someone comes along willing to write a check for the vast majority of its cost. On that point - I assume that you do know UND has people out making contacts with any and all UND alumni and supporters looking for every dollar they can get to assist our athletic efforts. Sorry for the lecture - again, I appreciate your passion for Sioux sports!

  9. You are correct - I should not have been quite so outspoken that we should "blast" Carlson. Only well-written, professional notes are appropriate. But I still think we should bombard him with our toned-down opinions. Part of my frustration is that he and I have traded four different e-mails (four each way) since the issue first arose in the legislature. In each of his responses, he certainly made it sound like his actions were solely for the benefit of the university. I am not surprised but he certainly is not looking out for UND's best interests if he actively works to keep the law on the books. Most of ND's politicians are not in the same class (a very low class) as the majority of politicians in the federal gov't and many other states but it is apparent that Carlson does fit that mold!!
  10. This confirms that the bozo was only interested in making headlines, not really concerned about the true issue! Let's bombard him with our thoughts about his handling of all of this. His e-mail address is: acarlson@nd.gov
  11. I am impressed - I wish I could make a similar drive. Mine would be the better part of 2,000 miles! Thanks for your interest in the program. Hopefully, it will be contagious!
  12. If healthy, Josh will make a huge impact!
  13. UND has offered another 2013 grad: PF Luke Worthington, 6'8", 230 from Mequon, WI. He reportedly has no other offers but WI-Milwaukee and various IVY League schools are showing a lot of interest. It would be great to land a PF with this type of size.
  14. Unfortunately, Jonathan Harden, the 2 star DT from Cretin-Derham Hall has verbaled to W Michigan.
  15. Does anyone know if the Rich commitment has been confirmed?
  16. I hesitate to provide this info as I would guess there have been some changes in the renderings since I received them. It appears to be an extremely impressive facility. Some details: [*]More than 140,000 sq ft [*]Full 100 yd FB field with separate 20 yd area working area for linemen [*]300 yd track with eight 42" lanes [*]60 ft high with videotaping towers [*]Two levels of offices, weight rooms, meeting rooms, sports medicine facilities, locker rooms, storage etc. (It is nice to see plenty of storage space after the Betty was built with "none'!) I suppose $ will determine whether this can all be done a once or if many of the items listed in the last bullet will be completed at a later date. I recommend that they formally launch a fund raising effort when the plans are announced. I think many of us will be willing to assist to complete the building "right" the first time rather than have it be an ongoing project for the next few years. Folks - it sure appears that this will be an outstanding facility. It will be a tremendous tool for recruiting and for practice/game preparation. Again - the above details may have been altered since I received my copy of the plans.
  17. My apologies - just didn't get to it. Will try to do so soon.
  18. I have all the drawings as of 3-4 months ago. I will try to post some of the details over the weekend.
  19. Great info - thanks!
  20. Well-written letter telling a heart-felt story - congrats on the progress you have made!
  21. Not surprising based on last year's peformance. Hopefully, we can prove the prognosticators wrong!
  22. Nice size - 6'4", 210 Interestingly, Indiana State and UND have offered two IL QBs: Bartels and Robert Tonyan from McHenry. At this point, it appears that each prospect only has these two offers.
  23. You are correct on Rich - I thought I had corrected that earlier but I guess not!
  24. Wow - that would be one of the earliest (if not the earliest) commitment I can remember other than a local recruit who had intentions of playing for the Sioux all along. If it is a kid from the Cities, it may be one of these that have been offered: RB Andrew Larson, 5'11, 195, 4.5, Eden Prairie (Eden Prairie), MN Has offer from SDSU TE Taj Rich, 6'2, 215, Robbinsdale (Cooper), MN DE Brett Pierce, 6'6, 250, Richfield (Holy Angels), MN Has offer from USD DT Jonathan Harden, 6', 300, St. Paul (Cretin-Derham-Hall), MN (Rivals 2 Star, Scout 2 Star) Has offers from E MI & W MI Ath Duke Anyanuwu, 6'4, 200, Blaine (Blaine), MN Has offer from Air Force Ath DJ Hebert, 6'2, 185, 4.6, Osseo (Osseo), MN Has offers from USD, SDSU & UNI We have some level of interest in another 15-16 prospects from the Cities. Whoever it is, it would be nice to get a commitment this early. It is good to land the kid but it may also get the attention of other recruits when someone makes a decision to attend UND this early - it sends a good message.
  25. Another offer: Bennett Goff, 6'2", 210, LB from Middleton, WI. Also has offers from Air Force, UNI & SDSU.
