  1. I just sent a note to Michaels congratulating him on his new job and especially on his being named to handle the play-by-play of UND FB games this fall. In case others want to do the same thing, his e-mail address is: jackmichaels@radiofargomoorhead.com
  2. We have offered one or two kids so far for the 2012 season. Matt Van Scyoc, 6'7" SF from Green Lake, WS, was offered last August. He has since received offers from Miami (OH) and Army. He averaged about 20 points this year and appears to be on a lot of teams' radar. His priorities in making the college decision: 1) academics, 2) playing time and 3) coaches that are able to help him develop both on and off the court. I would think Nos. 1 & 2 would bode well for us (hopefully, No. 3 as well). He apparently really liked his visit to Miami. James Harrington, 6', 170 PG from Cedar Rapids, IA We have offered this kid in FB but may have also done so for BB. It appears that he is talented enough to play either sport and/or track in college. He also has an offer from IN St for FB. He plays WR in football with 4.4 speed and is to have great hands. Apparently Notre Dame, Iowa and IA St. are interested in him for FB. Sounds like it would be great it get him in any sport! Marcus Tyus, 6'1", 175, PG from Anoka. Has no offers yet but is getting a lot of attention from us, NDSU, SDSU, USD, Dayton and Ohio. Scores a lot for a PG - about 22/game including 46 against Elk River.
  3. Washpun update: Iowa just offered so he now has offers from UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU and MO St and Iowa. With MO St's coach going to Tennessee, he may get an offer from the Vols as well. He is also hearing from BC, Clemson and Miami (FL). [*]The kid has great jumping skills and must be great going to the basket. He shot 56% from the field this year but only 25% on 3 pointers. Amazingly, he shot only 52% on FTs. Bottom line - it appears the odds of us getting him are remote! I will start a new thread with some info regarding 2012 BB recruiting.
  4. I believe you are correct except for one comment. You can have a maximum of 13 players on scholarship; however, they do not need to be full rides. For one reason or another, a coach may elect to provide a player with less than one full ride. An example of when this may happen: One of your 13 scholarship players unexpectedly is does not show up for school in the fall. A coach may use some of this $ to assist a walk-on with books or more.
  5. I incorrectly posted on the 2011 Recruiting thread..... Some recruiting news: We have made an offer to Schany, the NE LB. He also has offers from Colorado and Ohio Two new names on the "Of interest" list - a LB from OR and QB out of AZ. Wiki has been updated.
  6. I just read that the Gophers are considering him to fill the scholarship left open when Iverson left. This kid looks good: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmkKoccQAgg
  7. It appears the primary big kid we are after is Andre Ingram, a 6'7", 235, sophomore at Butler CC in Kansas. He is originally from Mpls. (Transitional). He averages 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds in conference games. I get the impression that he is more of a "banger" but he was 13 for 13 FG shooting in one game and was 9 for 9 on FTs in another game. Also has offers from Boise St., USD and W IL.
  8. DDan - while your response is "right on", the best way to address posts like this from SU fans is to simply ignore them. They probably get a rise out of all of us getting worked up about their silly comments!
  9. I don't disagree with your recommendation. I would suggest that you do some homework and provide the e-mail addresses of all the pertinent people at the NCAA who may have a say in this. That , of course, would include President Emmert and other NCAA employees. 10. It all gets down to $! No one knows the answer to your question!
  11. Thanks for your service! Go Sioux!!
  12. While I also would prefer to see FCS teams visit GF rather than DII teams, I fully agree with the above comments.
  13. So both programs are disbanded, effective immediately?
  14. Check out the great headline in the More Headlines area on the right side of the FightingSioux.com home page.
  15. I do not know but I would bet they are recruiting as if they have two scholarships available. They may or may not know someone is not returning. Despite how good Washpun might be, if we only have one scholarship available, it really needs to be a "big"!
  16. Supposedly, he also has offers from USD, SDSU and NDSU! While I am not sure need another rather small guard but it appears that this kid is good!
  17. Very interesting! I have not heard of the Plainsdaily before. Who are they and where are they located?
  18. I just hope all the freshmen are keeping their grades up - difficult to do without the redshift year to adjust to college, etc. All the travel and being away from the classroom scares me. It would really be bad to lose one of these kids!
  19. I know that they are looking at at least one big kid from the JC ranks. It will be interesting which, if any, of the underclassmen do not return next year. That would open up some needed scholarship $ for new recruits.
  20. We lost 69-62. We shot 47%, 46% from 3 point range, 90% FT from the line and outrebounded UTPA 35-27. The difference was our 33 turnovers. I watched the whole game and I bet 20 of the turnovers came with no pressure on us - just careless passing along with a bunch of traveling. Hopefully, the Williams girl from Hopkins can come in and be the point guard who can control the tempo of the game. She apparently has that ability.
  21. UND beat Ohio State 7-4 this morning in Tulsa. I have no idea how good OSU is or is not but this is probably the SB team's top win since moving to D1! **** I just checked - OSU is 5-13 after just beating Iowa St. 8-0 right after the loss to the Sioux.
  22. Baseball will continue at UND for the foreseeable future.
