  1. From the NCAA Constitution. Check out 6.4.2 (b). I believe that Teammakers is a booster organization, all members are considered Representatives of Athletic Interests. Posters on fan forums could be considered Representatives of Athletic Interests under 6.4.2 (e). Schools are technically responsible for the actions of Representatives of Athletic Interests, it is considered part of Institutional Control. That's how NDSU becomes responsible for the actions of Lakes under Institutional Control. Those same Representatives of Athletic Interests can get a school in trouble for recruiting violations and for contacting student athletes, recruits or potential recruits. So, your position is that college students from Florida and Texas aren't bright enough to take a court sentence seriously? Glad that you've got that on the record. This thread would have far fewer pages if NDSU fans hadn't spent so much time defending the football players, saying that their crime wasn't so serious. Those posts encouraged UND fans to counter the NDSU posts. So you can blame yourself and your NDSU pals for the length of this thread.
  2. There has been a lot of discussion on these topics in some other threads, especially the Conference Realignment thread. A lot of things could change in the next few years.
  3. I'm pretty sure that Boyd was under Bohl's authority. He played in 4 games last season.
  4. Rumor is that they are planning to strip anything of value out of the Old REA starting as early as next week (copper wire, bathroom fixtures, etc.). Building should start coming down before the end of June. I believe that the goal is to have the salvage pay for the demolition. Groundbreaking for new facility some time around August 1st (or maybe closer to when school starts?). Money is in place for 1st phase of building project. They hope to have the remainder of funds in place in time to keep the project going through completion, but they still have a little money to raise to make that happen. Total approved project is $19+ million for both phases. My guess is that they will be able to start using it some time during the 2014-2015 school year, but I didn't hear any building completion timelines. Watch for activity starting shortly after Memorial Day, and real demolition within about a month.
  5. You come on a UND fan site and consistently talk trash about UND, yet you seem to be surprised that people aren't going to agree with you. Even you can't be that dense. And I didn't agree with either of you. Paul made a mistake. Jones could have handled things better, but it doesn't change the fact that Paul made a mistake. If he worked for a different company things would have been handled differently, although he still would have made a poor choice of words. But the fact is that he works for the University. What he said was not acceptable for an employee on live radio.
  6. From almost 2 weeks ago.
  7. He isn't trolling another school's fan site, so probably doesn't need the attention or validation that you appear to need.
  8. It is so nice that you are always concerned about UND. Has the Summit found another school to fill the gaping hole yet so it doesn't lose autobids in baseball and basketball?
  9. You seem to be reflecting on it enough for everyone. Glad you are so interested in UND athletics.
  10. I believe that they need at least 6 members in 2 men's team sports besides basketball.
  11. Congratulations to all of the new graduates, and welcome to the UND Alumni family.
  12. I sometimes feel a twinge or 2, nothing major. I broke a finger playing hockey (beer league), and broke the other wrist walking across an icy parking lot. The finger is the one that bothers me most when the weather changes. It can throb quite a bit. As a matter of fact, I can feel it some right now. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I went to the Italian Moon Clinic to fix the finger. I straightened and set it myself at the rink. After hockey we went to the Moon for beer and pizza. I ordered an extra cup of ice to soak my finger. Then I went home and put a splint on it. It works fine, just doesn't bend quite as far as the other fingers.
  13. Not a great story. First day of football practice in high school. We were doing a drill that went badly. I tried to break my fall so I wouldn't fall on my head, and I broke both bones in my arm just above the wrist. Bad enough break that the doctor didn't clear me for sports for almost 18 months. But I avoided surgery.
  14. From the Altru Health System history page: The buildings may have still been in use, but they were part of United Hospital by then. I remember going to the emergency room at the new hospital in August of 1976 for treatment of a broken arm. It had been open for a couple of years by then.
  15. I believe that they are trying to build a fund so that they can use mainly the interest to fund projects. They aren't there yet, but that was part of the original plan. Windows would be nice, but I don't know if they are possible. They would also have to control the light coming in so that they could do blackouts for events as needed. The lack of floor and ceiling tiles may be related to the austerity theme and look of the building, or it might just be cost savings. I've never asked about them.
  16. Let's go over several parts of the conversation that led me to think that you didn't know that Chechnya wasn't part of the Middle East. First: Which leads people to believe that you have a problem with all Muslims. You obviously don't see it, but using that generality can be construed as being racist. Now you have connected the bombers, all Muslims, and the Middle East. Here is post 139, which you referred to. You responded with this statement. Where did I lie? Where did I make something up? I added 1+2+3+4. You didn't say outright that Chechnya was part of the Middle East. But you went on a direct line from Chechen brothers committing a bombing to being suspicious of all Muslims and everyone from the Middle East. Then you thanked me for the history lesson. That would lead someone to believe that you didn't know where Chechnya was. If you don't know something, you are ignorant on that subject. I didn't make up any of those quotes. You aren't used to be challenged, are you. Don't people stand up to you in real life? Here's a tip. If you wanted to end the conversation, all you had to do was stop posting. Then I wouldn't have had anything to respond to. Conversation would have ended last night without your name calling. Nice PM's by the way.
  17. Part of the sales tax set up to pay off the building is set aside to pay for improvements. That is what they have used for new turf, the convention entrance and other improvements. I think they hope to limit the major remoodel by doing regular updates.
  18. About 40, but it wasn't very useful for well over a decade. St Mike's was between 20 and 30 years old when it was replaced. I don't remember when Deaconess was built. Some buildings are built with change in mind, some weren't and some types of facilities need more change than others. But most buildings need some major updates after 30 or 40 years unless changes are made along the way.
  19. Christians have also done a lot of killing in the name of God. A great example is the Crusades. They were started by the Pope. A lot of wars have been fought over the years because of religion. Religion and greed are probably 2 of the main causes of war, with jealousy probably coming in a close 3rd.
  20. In 1961 it would have been either Deaconess Hospital or St. Michaels Hospital. Deaconess was about a block south of the Grand Forks County Courthouse. The building now houses some business and non-profit organization offices. St. Mikes was in the current UND Medical School building. United Hospital was born when Deaconess and St. Mikes joined together. They built the new United Hospital (now called Altru) in about 1973.
  21. I don't know you and I have no idea whether you are a racist or not. Your comments, including all Muslims in a group and suspecting them because of the actions of 2 individuals, represents a racist attitude. That's what sparked this whole conversation. Doesn't mean you are racist, it could just mean that you are ignorant on the topic. Kind of like when you didn't realize that Chechnya wasn't part of the Middle East. Here is a simpler example. People make stupid comments all of the time. Everyone makes a stupid comment at some point in their life. That doesn't mean that they are all stupid. If someone makes a lot of stupid comments they would give the appearance of being stupid. But it doesn't mean that they actually are stupid. On the other hand, a lot of them actually are. And if you aren't actually racist, or ignorant, or don't hate, then I'm not sure why a few comments from an anonymous person on an Internet forum would matter to you at all. But you really do seem to be getting upset about it. By the way, you never answered my question about setting up prison camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II. Do you thing that was a proper thing to do? As a follow-up, is that what you would support for all Muslims in the United States?
  22. There are some wars that involve Muslims on both sides, most of which don't involve al-Qaeda. Some are religion related and some aren't. And there are divisions within these sects. Some of the different sects don't get along with others. The Sunni's and the Shi'ites don't normally get along well. They have fought within Iraq forever. But there are also large groups of Muslims that aren't fighting with anyone. But to answer your question, there are a lot of wars that don't involve Muslims. And there always have been.

  24. Intent also plays into the equation. And since you are obviously trying to pick a fight, shown by the extreme example used, I wouldn't call us good. You are an anonymous poster who knows absolutely nothing about me, so I really don't put any stock in whether you called me names or not. But it was a nice attempt to be childish during a serious discussion.
  25. I don't see any back peddling, or any need to back peddle. If you can't see the difference between actually calling someone a racist, and saying that their statements sound like racism, then that says a lot about you.
