Does the murderer get to play the next football game?
-
You're bothered by the way he uses it? That is hilarious coming from someone that participates on Bisonville where UND is referred to by numerous made up names that are meant as insults. You're bothered by his use of the proper name of the school? Try growing up a little bit.
-
I am willing to bet that most, if not all, fans of the agricultural college did not know the full name of the school. That is why they have been annoyed by Hayduke. They thought he made up a nickname, like Cow College or Moo U. And not 1 of them thought to check it out.
-
And yet his use of the proper name for the school seems to bother a lot of people.
-
From the current North Dakota Century Code, also known as the law of North Dakota,: Hayduke is correct and being technically accurate. It is like calling someone Robert if that is their proper name, even if they prefer to be called Bob. Get over it. And if you doubt me, check http://www.legis.nd.gov/cencode/t15c12.pdf?20130829115507.

It's all about the total sum of the athletic department, isn't it? You claimed that someone was smacking about "fan support". That fan support includes all fans that are supporting the athletic department and the University. You can't pick and choose a single sport, just because your school happens to be doing well right now. The athletic department is supposed to be more than a single sport, unlike at NDSU where a single sport means everything to you and most NDSU fans. Fan support of the athletic department and the University includes everyone that is paying for tickets and showing up for athletic events, even at games for sports that NDSU doesn't have. If you want to brag about having more fans at football games, just try doing that and prove what a 1 trick pony you are. And you didn't address the numbers 3 and 8.
-
You do know that nobody on this board believes anything you say. Just because you say it's BS doesn't mean that it actually is BS. Try going back to BSville and looking back, you will see that a lot of people believed that it was going to be a close game.

Is there anything other than football in your mind? Do you want to compare attendance at all women's sports, since that is what was being discussed? I think someone already did that and you lost. Do you want to compare total attendance at all men's sports? I think that it's already been done and you lose that. It looks like you put all of your eggs in 1 basket. Hope that bubble doesn't burst on you.
-
And what was the NDSU football record in their 2nd year after transition? Why do the numbers 3 and 8 come to mind? Thanks for your continued interest in UND Athletics. Have you joined the Champions Club yet?
-
Dan, you just try too hard. But thanks for your interest in UND Athletics.

Why is there a thread with 140 pages about NDSU players on this forum? You must be truly clueless if you can't figure it out. First you have a bunch of NDSU athletes breaking North Dakota laws. NDSU does very little to publicly reprimand these athletes. Then you have a group of NDSU fans that are so eager to protect the name of their beloved school that they will constantly attack anyone that even posts facts about the legal issues. Those fans only goal is to glorify the school and the athletes that they deify. Probably 85 out of the 140 pages are NDSU fans such as yourself. Thanks for your interest in UND Athletics.

I predict that the lines will change often, probably at least weekly. Some will change between games on the weekend and some will change during games. I will also predict that not a single line will stay the same throughout the entire season. Defensive pairings will also change during the season, but probably not as often as the forward lines.

I got my hats on Friday and I don't know what all the fuss is about. J/K, nice job Mafia. They look great. I can see me getting a lot of use out of the hats during the hockey season.
-
The point that you make about kids with UND connections probably wanting to go to UND destroys your 9 out of 10 choosing NDSU scenario. A lot of people in eastern North Dakota have UND ties. I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of football recruits in the area would prefer NDSU right now, but it isn't close to 9 out of 10.
-
How's that working out for him this season?
-
tSic is correct, this is UND following the settlement with the NCAA. A lot of outlets still have the regular Fighting Sioux merchandise because they loaded up before the deadline, so I doubt that sales are down significantly. They may be down a little bit from the past couple of years just because of the huge rush of sales as the nickname was discontinued. But this is actually going to be a nice little bump in merchandise sales for UND periodically.

The Park District has been raising money for this for more than a year. The Blue Line Club is a major supporter. I believe they have the majority of the money raised, but they don''t quite have all of it raised. It is going to be 2 sheets of ice. Eight locker rooms, I believe, will be between the rinks with seating over the top of the locker rooms. Part of the reason for the additional ice is because indoor ice time is at a premium in Grand Forks-East Grand Forks all winter. Youth hockey could use more time, figure skating wants a lot more time, and adult hockey has a lot of demand that can't be filled. The other reason for building these rinks is to bring a lot more hockey tournaments to town. Our local youth hockey teams play tournaments on the road all the time, and rarely play in town because they don't have available rink space. The current rinks are being used for league play on the weekends, especially Saturdays. Other youth hockey programs in the region would be interested in playing a tournament in Grand Forks versus having to travel longer distances. There are a lot of Canadian youth hockey teams looking for places to play tournaments. Plus the local figure skating group would like to add a couple of competitions. They project that they can book events in the building almost every weekend all winter. That equals a lot of hotel rooms filled on weekends, food and alcohol being served in restaurants, and shopping being done in local stores. The plan is to pay for construction with donations and to pay for regular operations with money made on the tournaments and other events on the weekends. More information can be found on the GF Parks Foundation web site at https://gfparksfoundation.org/programs/ice-arena-campaign/.

Muss was on the radio with Tim and Swyg again this morning (sounds like he will be on every Monday morning). He said that they expect to have their depth chart complete by the end of this week, including at QB. But they may not make all decisions public so that they keep the competition going.

I don't think that the smaller FBS conferences will have enough control to make the decision about whether they stay the same or if they end up combined with part of FCS. All changes have to be approved by the NCAA membership, not just by the smaller group of conferences. My guess is that the entire membership would rather try to balance numbers to some degree rather than have a small mid-level group of 50 or so schools with larger levels above and below it.

UND would have to allow it. That might be one of the ways that UND can use the logo once in a while to keep it active, so they may give permission.
-
The consulting firm(s) that designed those logos failed miserably. The mountaineer idea had some promise, but the fringe on the jacket alone makes it look ridiculous. The other 2 are way too cartoonish, even too campy for Disney. 70% of the people that voted were willing to get a new mascot, they just didn't have any choices worthy of a college athletic program.
-
Mussman was on the radio with Tim and Swyg earlier this week. He said that it was way too close to call. He said that it sometimes came down to the last play. If one of them made a great throw or a great decision, then they took over the lead. Or if they made a bad play they gave up the lead. It will probably come down to how they play in the opener, I'm pretty sure that both will get playing time.

Depends on the number of scholarships. I've read that most schools have to increase spending anywhere from $2-4,000,000 when they move up to FBS. It isn't just adding scholarships for football. They have to add an equivalent number of scholarships for women. That might include adding 1 or 2 more women's sports. Which would include hiring coaches and other staff. And may require new facilities. If you are talking a number in the middle like could happen if the big schools pull away, it depends on what number they decide on. Both UND and NDSU are probably capable of adding scholarships, and could even get to the FBS level with a little time and planning. My guess is that it would be a struggle to jump to that level immediately for either school.
-
Those are all possibilities. And some schools might loath the whole idea, but they probably aren't going to have a lot of choice. I wouldn't throw out the possibility that the lower 5 BCS might be willing to decrease scholarships from 85. It has been reported by several people that many of those schools are losing money on athletics. If they lose access to some NCAA revenue because the big schools break away they might make a business decision to cut some costs. Some hardcore fans wouldn't like the idea, but people doing the books would love it. Especially if it doesn't affect the ability to compete for a title.

For 2012-2013 there were approximately 120 FBS schools, 122 FCS schools and 98 non-football schools. If the Big 5 pull out 70 plus teams for the Super division, that would leave 160-170 teams between the lower level BCS and FCS. Balance it out and you have a little over 80 teams in each of the 2. You only have to find some middle ground to set the boundaries. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to see how that works.
