The NCAA over the past 4 years has made an effort to group the WCHA in one bracket, mainly to avoid the scenario of having an all WCHA frozen 4 (which happened in 2005). With that said, no team more than Nebraska-Omaha concerncs me with regards to playing the Sioux. In a one game scenario, Dean Blais has the ability to have his team moving on all cylinders. Not that any team is a given win, but I would like to see UNO moved out of the Midwest bracket.

UND sophomore forward Danny Kristo is out indefinitely after sustainin
neoflex replied to Siouxfull's topic in Men's Hockey
Regardless of how Danny got into this situation, as many have posted, is speculation. The concerns is how much frostbite and the severity of the frostbite are we looking at? If it is just his toe, and though a very serious situation, the concern is the integrity of circulation. If it is just isolated to his toe, at worst he may be looking at an amputation (again, just the last option for a physician), but if the circulation is compromised above the toe, that opens up a whole case of possible scenarios which most are not all that great. But again, we just don't know that much at this time. Often times we compare frostbite to that of a diabetic foot when it comes to circulation, so it will be treated similarly. The first part of his medical care will be with restoring/maximizing circulation and preventing infection to his foot, and then movement, and then possible weight-bearing. This whole process can take up to 2 weeks to even several months. So let's just hope and pray that the area and time of exposure was small, and that Danny will be able to walk out of the hospital in due time. -
After this weekend..the Sioux will most likely be in 3rd. (maybe tied for second) Denver will sweep Colorado College (though I really hope that the Tigers at least win 1 of the games, as this will help the Sioux tremendously) Minnesota Duluth will most likely split with Minnesota, being that the game is in Minneapolis. Wisconsin is off this weekend and really don’t see them moving up in the standing's too much over the next 4 weeks. The Sioux have the benefit of a weaker schedule compared to Denver, and if the Sioux take care of business and win the next 4 series, they should be near the top and hopefully compete for the MacNaughton cup.

Thread's a little off topic...so anyways just returned from Colorado Springs. Saw 2 different Sioux teams...and hopefully the team from Saturday night is the one we see the rest of the season. The Sioux didn't look awful Friday, just flat....and compounded with the fact the Tigers played their best game of the year (so said the tiger fan next to us) and we saw a good Sioux team lose to a Colorado team that came out ready to play. On Saturday, that second period was amazing! The Sioux were cycling the puck with consistency and it played off.....and Lapoint's freaky goal with 55 seconds to go, just goes to show what happens if you keep the puck going toward the net. 4 series to go..and with the bye weekend ahead.....the sioux have their work cut out for them.

Allot of folks will be staying at the Double Tree as it's right across the street from the World Arena.

My error....I meant Oshie, but you can add Zajac, Stafford, Duncan, Chorney, Greene...and again ets...(and you could also go on to say how many McNaughton cups has Hakstol won...one is the answer, and Blaise won 5 and Gasparinni won 4)...
-
The concern with Hakstol from a number of boosters/Alumni started when the team was embarassed in Denver in the frozen 4 , and unfortunately every year since then the Sioux have bowed out in the first round of the playoffs. It's not so much to be beaten, but to do so on national TV and look unprepared has been an apparent consisteny for Hakstol.. In addition, but of equal importance, many folks are fed up with the off the ice incicents with players use of alcohol and the police. Does Hakstol not put the living fear in these guys in regards to their behavior and representing the school and team? From a fan perespective, it's embarrasing to travel and watch your team get outplayed (did so In Denver, and Yale last year), and from a booster perspective, how much more talent does a coach need to get to the championship (Toews, Parise, etc..) The Sioux are not going to win every game, nor be at their best at all times, but does Hakstol represent the ideal coach in getting his team prepared and "bringing out the best" in his players - when it counts - is the question to ask.

I too would be interested in the tickets....but send me an IM to discuss the prices.. Thanks

On the FCS website, it says it's going to be broadcasted on FCS-Atlantic which is ch. 617 on DIrect TV, however, on the directv channel guide, it has South Carolina at Western Kentucky in basketball...so your guess is as good as mine.
-
All may be true with Blaise signing a new contract....however, I was watching today's game in Mesa AZ today (another dissapointing ending to a year) and one of the alumni said that the University of Minnesota AD and Booster president, paid a visit to Blaise's house, and met with him for about 2 hours. So not sure if the deal is done as of yet.....but would rather that ND try and get him back, than lose him to MN. BRING BLAISE BACK....PLEASE!
-
Would Blaise actually something negative about a current coach, especially at a booster club gathering? Most likely not. I was at the MN game, and the sioux just looked flat. I say this year in and year out, but Hakstol is just not a good motivator. He has had some amazing talent over the years, arguably of which he should have had a national title by now. The argument isn't whether he's a good coach, b/c he's proven to be mediocre, but even if he is fired, who would be the coach?
-
Wasnt' FCS going to carry the game! On their website they say it's going to be broadcasted.....but not on 623 or 617 on Direct-TV.
-
I thought the game was going to be on the FCS channel (617 on Direct-TV) but there's nothing on but a directv-logo. Any help?
-
Duncan, Vendavelde, and Gregoire....need to be out there...and Finley needs to sit on the pine, and Genoway...a good offensive mind, gives up the puck too often and creates opportunities for the other team. Keep the offense flowing, and stop playing too defensively, and we'll win!
-
The coach that invented Prevent defense should be shot! Let's go Sioux....we need this game!
-
Unfortunately that's typical of this season....we get a goal, and turn around right away and give up a penatly. Let's go SIOUX PK!!
-
Finley is either too big for the college game....or he is really slow.
-
Im on a 2 minute delay from the postin on the board, from My Directv feed.
-
Why is this still going on?
-
UNH socres...is it 4-2 ??
-
How much time is left in the 2nd
-
Gosh this is great....another OT in LAX....let's push this to 15...and we can miss the entire Hockey game altogether.
-
DAMN...we must have a record with short handed goals given up
