Not true. I travel a great deal outside the mid-west and wear at least one item of Sioux gear most of the time when I'm not working. I get a lot of compliments for the name and logo. I am also told by these 'outsiders' how sad and/or upset that we have to retire the name and logo. I had a patient, Goofy fan, who spent more time telling me how much he admires our hockey team's style of play as opposed to the Goofs' 'prima-donnas' (his word not mine) and his disgust with the NC$$ re the name and logo then he did about his medical concerns.

Quit muddying the waters. This issue was discussed ad nauseaum in years past. AND if I recall correctly, your side lost. There are more non-Natives helping Natives than Natives helping Natives. And many of them are pro-Sioux name advocates. Go back to the posts from 2004-2006. The issues as I see them are 1) keeping or not keeping the Sioux name and logo and 2) hearing the voices of the Standing Rock people not the dictators who sit on the council.

DU's Martin feels snubbed by Sioux - article in Denver Post
Sioux-cia replied to knato's topic in Men's Hockey
I can only surmise the writer of the piece wrote this now as an attempt to distract our team this weekend. All it's done is make him, Chambers, look like an aZZ. As always, I wish the best for Jesse and his family. -
NICE!! This will help a lot of people who can't go to a 'formal' classrooom continue their education.

There were different types; some were flakey like pastry and some were from a raised (yeast) dough. Different families made them in different ways. I went to a Catholic all girls HS in the neighborhood and all the nuns except two were Polish. We made them in Home Ec class and we made them with a yeast risen dough which was sweet. I never made them out of the class-room.

I grew up in a Polish neighborhood in Chicago. There is a Polish pastry similar to kolache. I remember it sounded the same but was spelled differently (kolazki?). Very, very, tasty especially when they were still warm.

I don't know the answer to this. Aren't there rules and regulation that all college athletic programs have to follow when they belong to a conference? Don't they prevent this from happening? I agree with Mike on this one. Hockey is an elite, small sport and while it is a huge money maker for programs such as UND, I don't see many new programs being started; at least not in this economy. Students across the country are facing big tuition increases in the coming years and 'investing in the future' by starting a new athletic program of any kind is going to be quite difficult, if not impossible. Unless, of course, they have a benefactor that has to resources to give, and give, and give....

'you people'? This phrase smacks of racism!!
-
Yes, really. I took the pictures because I couldn't believe it either. I put them on an external drive which is in ND. I'll be on the road until the end of next week. I'll be happy to send them to you. As I stated, the person was a band member. The band sat apart from the fans, across the ice and to the extreme right from my seat.

One of the (white) Tech band members was in black face and wore a black 'Afro' wig when we played them in Houghton 11/2009. I took a couple of pictures of him from across the ice.

I'm pulling a 24 hour gig in Iowa on Saturday. I get off 7am Sunday. It's only a 6 hour drive from there to Green Bay. I could make it to see us play Sunday. Is it possible to just buy a ticket for Sunday or will I have to buy the package?

and then they'll get gobbled up by the WCHA carnivors..... Sioux, Pios, 'Dogs, Huskies, Seawolves (don't know what a seawolf eats, I'm adding them based on their totally devouring humiliating the Goofs this year), etc!! It will be interesting to see how many Goofy 'fans' travel to support their team when they're in the B10. IMO, it's going to be a long time before the Goofs are competitive and, as evidenced by the significant decrease in fan attendance at the Mariucci, their fans don't support them when they're losing. If they don't support them at home, they sure as heck aren't going to support them on the road.

Don't act so innocent! You know very well what a ground screw is!!

I can't commit as of yet. I need a new car and may take this opportunity to look for a deal!

UND uses their planes to transport opposers to Bismarck to testify
Sioux-cia replied to siouxfan29's topic in UND Nickname
Did your testimony mirror the administration's? -
Seat is with ten Sioux fans. We can do the exchange tomorrow or if you're in GF, today.

I know what you meant. My twisted mind just read it a little differently on first glance and that made me laugh.
