  1. I remember watching that game and was surprised they didn't call it sooner. The fog was horrid on the ice!!
  2. Tonights game was postponed. First time, wow! But, has a game ever been cancelled? Probably not, Virg would have mentioned it, I think.
  3. Seriously doubt that any rooms will be available in December at the Holiday Inn Express. Those rooms book in the Spring. Stayed there once and it was too chaotic for me. The bar was so packed that people were shoulder to shoulder and you couldn't move a foot in any direction. We had no hot water in the morning and their parking is very limited. Goopher drunk tried to pick a fight with my son who was twice his size, sober and generally very easy going. The drunk managed to piss my kid off big time in short order and all I can say is I'm glad the elevator came when it did and I was able to shove my son into it or there would have been one Goof fan in the hospital and one Sioux fan in jail. We usually stay at the Hilton Gardens in St. Paul. Short walk to the X, close to everywhere we want to go and adequate parking. Book my room in the summer generally around July. The Final Five is a great time for hockey fans; great hockey, great fans, great atmospher, and lots of fun!
  4. When was the last time a Fighting Sioux hockey game was cancelled due to weather? *Hope someone knows the answer because I don't.*
  5. MM, sorry I missed this for this year!! My check will be in the mail as soon as I get your address. I'm sure that the folks who donated to the team who haven't this year probably didn't notice it either. Hope you got/get the needed donations to keep the Sioux name at the forefront in Goopher land!!
  6. Old men and their memories, gotta let them talk, smile, nod and agree 'those were the days'.
  7. Phats and I had breakfast at a Village Inn, Sunday after the Omaha series. Of course we both were wearing Sioux gear. As we were leaving an old timer stopped us. Said he graduated from UND in 1959 and watched hockey from the rafters of the ol' barn. He told us a story that I cannot confirm and suspect has been distorted beyond recognition through time. He said that the '58 freshman played the seniors and blew them out of the water. "They were a bunch of Canadians but so were most of the rest of the team." He also said that freshman team was recruited enmasse by the owner of the North Stars. Hmmmm.....
  8. Good to see the 'Dawgs close the DECC with a win!!
  9. Thanks for the quick link!!! I love those big, clean hits!!
  10. Thanks for the update!! Six goals!!! I love it!!!!
  11. There's rumors a certain MN team may be up for sale soon.....
  12. The way my real estate taxes have been going up, it can't be a budget issue!
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to all my SS.com fellow members!!! And, what gfhockey said. Be careful out there!
  14. I don't know if Marlin is going to log on again but if someone here knows him please forward this message to him. I'm going to send it via PM but I don't know that he'll get it. Marlin, Please research Dr. Eugene D. Kwon who is a cancer researcher with Mayo Clinic. His research notes that cells produce B7H which wipes out the immune system which results in cancers spreading. Dr. Kwon has found a 'CTLA' blocker that take the brakes off T-cell immunities and helps the body fight tumors. He has an excellent response rate and has even had complete response in patients with stage 4 melanoma. It has been shown to put MANY types of cancer into remission. Some tumors were completely wiped out even in patients with bone lesions such as you have. The positive results of Dr. Kwon's clinical trials have resulted in the FDA fast-tracking it's approval which is still pending. The patients with stage four melanoma who were part of a clinical trial were still alive 5 years later! The duration of the positive response isn't yet known but it looks very promising. An interesting side note is the patients who had the most severe side effects were often the most responsive. When you mentioned a 7% 5 year survival rate, I remembered a colleague telling me about a conference she went to where she heard Dr. Kwon speak. The information I cited above is from her notes. Please check it out! It can't hurt and based on what she told me, it could extend your chances of survival tremendously. God bless! 15. The student section is very close to the side of the goal where the Sioux shoot twice. It's not like they're that far away AND they surround the penalty box. I don't see any reason to move them. *My seats aren't behind that goal so my observation isn't based on losing my seats to students.*
  16. What's truly bizarre is the headline reads 'Bison' yet the storyline correctly calls us the Fighting SIoux.
  17. Aww, man... Lot's of prayers going your way, Marlin, lots.
