  1. We're out shooting them. Com'on one go in!!
  2. Aaargh!!!!! Rape is rape is rape you @*! Date rape or rape in an alley way is still rape! If hockey players are raping women its still rape. A
  3. No, no, no. Who do we love to hate>>>the Gopher's. Somebody has to play for the Gophers, it's a great rivalry. BUT, no one in good conscious should support them.
  4. GP is no longer on probation, he was released from probation January 14, 2004. A month later a judge refused to grant GP's request to void the conviction. The judge felt that 'setting aside the conviction only one year after the incident would depreciate the seriousness of Paukovich's conduct and promote disrespect for the law...' In my opinion, not being able to play a couple of games after deliberately injuring another player, 'depreciates the seriousness of Paukovich's conduct and promotes disrespect for the' other player and the game of hockey.
  5. I disagree that GP did not intend to injure Robbie. I was at the game and saw it in person from across the ice. Watch the clip. Masson had a penalty, Adams has his arm up, once Robbie touches the puck the play is dead. Robbie knows this and is lackadaisically skating to the puck and gets it. GP, in my opinion also knows this but still slams Robbie into the boards. It was sickening to watch Robbie's legs immediately go out from under him. Admit it, we all enjoy watching the boys mix it up a bit especially against arch rivals but this hit was way beyond 'hockey violence'. In my opinion this action was criminal in its intent.
  6. From todays Star Tribune 'P.M. Update', "The Gophers plan to release a statement, possibly today regarding Tyler Hirsch, who was held out of Saturday's game for personal reasons after some bizarre berhavior following Friday's loss."
  7. This board and the ones re Robbie are all talking, wondering what happened to both of these players as well as the ones re Prpich and Murray--medically. People are asking if anyone knows anything, etc. Everyone is speculating, repeating what someone told them or someone they know heard from some one they heard said to the man on the moon, etc. While at the Xcel, I also heard from several persons that Tyler was admitted to the hospital. Just as I heard all about Robbie's progress from several sources through out the weekend. Now all of a sudden it's an invasion of privacy. You can't have it both ways! And the HIPPA law only applies if it was a hospital employee that gave out the information.
  8. Robbie, we wish you the best. I know your strong heart, strong will, never ending tenacity and great courage will get you through this. I've enjoyed watching you play hockey (and football) since you were a 'little guy' and played with my 'big guy'. Your an amazing athlete and young man. We're praying for you. "Bear's" Mom and "Bear"
  9. The entire team saluted the fans right after the teams shook hands, the seniors salute came about a minute later. I was at the game. Tim must have been checking out the cheer leaders and missed the first salute.
  10. Of course "Gopher " means "dirty, rotten, cheap, @##%@#%!" . No one in our community questions that definition. In some Native American communities, "Sioux" means "Snake in the Grass". I guess that means their fact and reality is our fiction . No, I don't work for the GF Herald. I don't live in a tunnel either .
  11. Thanks, I did read the whole article what he has written is not definitive. The expert states Sioux does not mean snake; to the Native American gentleman I spoke with, Sioux means 'Snake in the Grass'. Therein lies the rub my friend. That is why this issue is so controversal. But, I believe that as long as we have the Ralph, we will remain the Fighting Sioux.
  12. Welcome! UND has three buses piggy backing from the large parking lot between University Ave and 2nd Avenue North - just east of Columbia Rd. I have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for one of those buses, coming or going.
  13. I don't know what it means. I'm only repeating what I was told by a Native American Elder. He didn't have an opinion about the Fighting Sioux logo. He said it didn't affect his life in any way at all.
  14. As a former Fighing Illini, and a Fighting Sioux alum , I agree, keep the name. I believe it represents honor, strength, loyalty, etc. and UND has provided more opportunities for Native American's than any other school. But I have to add, a Sioux elder told me that the French gave the name Sioux to the Indians during their warring, he said it means 'Snake in the Grass'.
