  1. He wasn't joking? I thought he was joking when he posted that .
  2. The argument for the use of reservation schools using NA monikers is that they are Indians and, therefore, have the 'right' to use such names and imagery. My question to that would be are non-natives attending reservation schools not allowed to participate in activities that identify the participants as 'Chiefs', 'Braves', etc. There were plenty of non-natives living on the Navajo Reservation and attending school there when I worked there four+ years ago.
  3. You're wrong there, ya ol' biddy! I know UMD fans who don't harbor the jealously and hatred toward out team that the majority of UMD posters on this FIGHTINGS SIOUX sports forum have. There must not be a UMD sports forum, you certainly spend enough time here. Or, more realistcally (what loser sports team doesn't have a fan forum?), you just like hanging out with winners.
  4. Thank you Canada!!! Without your native sons, we wouldn't be the best college team in the country!!!
  5. Regarding seniors, they also have a veteran group. The difference is our vets are brothers while theirs are just teammates. We definitely have the advantage.
  6. 5-2 Sioux ....and the Michigan fans turn GREEN. They cheer for the Sioux the rest of the tournament!!
  7. HELP!! I'm on SiouxSports.com and I can't sign off!!!

  8. That was a good read! Brought back good memories and one sad one. While going through my collection of jerseys a couple weeks ago, I brought out a black one that I had forgotten I had. I brought it out to the living room to show my son and his girl friend. He asked, "Who autographed it?" I replied, "It's not autographed." He held up the sleeve and pointed to the signature. Only then did I remember, Eddie signed it for me in Columbus.
  9. No plans for the band to definitely be there Friday. BUT, we're going to win Thursday, so they will be there Friday. What does this all mean? We won't know who wins the Hobey until it's announced on Friday.
  10. Were the other candidate's school bands' there? Do we know if our band has been asked to be there this year?
  11. Thanks! Posts like your's give me hope to one day cheer on the 'dawgs when they're not playing us. One day......
  12. I must be that idiot because I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Excuse me, my handler is calling.
  13. Is it too late to get a petition going to get at least Spirit Lake representation to this meeting?
  14. This is a COLLEGE SPORTS forum for fans!! The moderator's are not PAID employees. The line you mention is drawn when the volunteer moderators have had enough. They have good days and bad days (seems to me today is one of your bad days?) and their tolerance levels vary. SO WHAT?!? No one's GPA, job, job prospects, relationship, credit scores, etc are at risk here. If it bothers you, find a sports forum that meets your standards. That shouldn't be so hard to do.
  15. Milwaukee was my daughter in law's first F4. She had only been dating my son for a few months and at that time was fairly reticent and 'proper'. She was born and raised in Connecticut. I was born and raised in a blue-collar neightborhood in Chicago so we took a trip to the 'old neighborhood' and had dinner at a store-front resturant where no one spoke English but the food was to die for. I think she was a little scared and stuck pretty close to my son. We went to a 'Hawks game. Bochenski was suppose to play his first game with them but didn't. We took a long interesting cab ride during that trip; my two sons, my future daughter in law, my younger son's best friend from HS and me (single mom for the majority of my sons' lives). Our cab driver mistook us for... well I'm not really sure what. He started talking about gay men and single mothers. He said all men who were raised by single womern were demasculinized. That's why all men raised by single women were homosexuals, without exception. He went on to say a few more, derogatory, things about single mothers. My younger son was sitting in the front seat with the driver and I could see he was physically restraining himself. I was worried that he would hit the driver and made a few comical comments to try to diffuse the situation. Had Phats hit the guy, we would have been without a driver because he would have been thrown through the door! Yes, he is that strong!!! My older son taught JuJitsu and many of his students were in law inforcement. I wasn't too worried about him. He was very calm and made comments the driver mistook for agreement when in fact Rob was ridiculing the guy. The guy kept talking and made a horrible comment about rape. Out of no where, a fist went flying from the back seat and hit the guy on the side of his neck!!! It was my future daughter in law!!! My son had to hold her back, she was so angry!! She wanted to keep wailing on him! Gone was Miss Manners!! We didn't win a national championship that weekend but we gained a new member to our family. Rob and she eloped a few week later. She fits in perfectly!!
  16. Very true but if DHG is sincere in his regret for his comments,IMO, he should go back on the air and apologise without bringing up a comment made 8 years ago. Doesn't matter is anyone is listening or not, apologise in the same venue he made his original comment.
  17. Did I miss something in the original post? So what if our hockey players were at Bonzers? Have you been there? Great atmosphere and sandwiches! Are there no 21 and over hockey players on the Fighting Sioux hockey team?
  18. His dad sounds like the 'real deal'!! No 'poor baby, they're so mean to you, there, there'; just good old fashioned 'accept the consequences for your actions', 'what are you going to do to make it right' and a strong work ethic. Fits right in with the Fighting Sioux frame of mind!!
  19. That happened the summer of 2003. Honestly. Tasteless comment made by a college-aged student. Did he imply Junior was drunk? Did he imply Junior was a liar? Did he imply that Junior lost a limb or other body part and joke about it? Even you have to admit that Dirty's omment is fairly benign when compared to what you, a presumed adult, said about Danny. Inflammatory comments you said on a radio show with more listeners than a fan blog has readers. You're sorry. Good. The apology would carry more weight if you went back on that show and apologised to Danny Kristo. If you have, good for you!
  20. This will be my 7th F4 in a row! My first was Columbus. Where's MafiaMan? I met him in person that weekend. He can tell the story of the 'Silver Fox' (or was it the 'Spotted Cheetah? The 'Mangy Lion'? I don't remember. ). It was a strip joint across the street from our seedy motel. It's his story.
  21. I have a set, maybe two. I think I got them from AZSIOUX. Send him a PM.
  22. I have always meant to get tested and register as a bone marrow donor but put it off due to time constraints. I'm going to find the time and hope that many of you do as well especially if you're a minority.
