  1. Since my dad lives not too far from Maine I have had the good fortune of attending a few of Maine's home games. I think they get along well with Sioux fans because out of all the programs out east they most closely mirror the UND hockey program and its fans. I could draw many other parallels ie) BC-UMTC (right down to the stomach turning colors), BU-Wisconsin. Tough choice on the other WCHA fans. For pure passion about the game it is tough to vote against Bucky fans but if I had to pick who I'd watch a WCHA game with it would have to be Duluth.
  2. Colby Genoway was one of the cuts from the Canucks training camp so some of you may get to see him play up in Winnipeg with the Moose. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=218467&hubname=
  3. Frattin will be toiling (working hard per the link) in the WCHA this season, and the coaches expect nothing less from their players. http://www2.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/mwdictsn?va=toiling And when the puck is on Frattin's stick opposing goalies like Frazzled will be soiling (the Skippies can look that one up for themselves ).
  4. I can't wait to watch him destroy a few Goofs and hear the Skippies complain about the Sioux and their overage Canadians. With a full dozen in the lineup this coming season, it should also quiet the Skippies who think that UND has lost it's Canadian pipeline.
  5. Article regarding Lee and Sens Rookie Camp from todays Ottawa Citizen. Just like many Sioux fans, it would appear that the local media expects a certain level of performance from a number nine draft pick as well. I still hope it all works out for the kid. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...23-b427c680a1b1
  6. So Dave K likes the dirty players/agitators who would be just as happy to take out an opponents star player as contribute to their teams scoring. He doesn't like the players who give these same dirty players/agitators the attitude adjustment (knuckle sandwiches) they deserve. My conclusion is that Dave must be a closet Gopher fan.
  7. I wasn't going to jump into this repeat argument with Dave the Tree Hugger until he called the giant meatball Ulf a great physical player. Sorry but anyone who goes out of his way on numerous occaisions to execute a knee on knee deserves to eat his steak through a straw. Whether you like it or not the game of hockey is one of regulated violence. If you can't accept that fact along with the unwritten rules of fair play and settling scores I think you should take up watching curling instead. Oh wait, forget that idea, the rocks hit each other.
  8. It is on the Edmonton Oilers site forum as well so I am sure it will either be confirmed or denied by the players. http://forums.edmontonoilers.com/index.php?showtopic=34620
  9. Proof that UMTC must have one riveting and exciting football team to watch.
  10. What broadcast are you listening to?
  11. Actually he has three older brothers so I will assume you forgot about Andy. Josh played for RPI and Jeff for St-Olaf.
  12. This morning it is official, Belfour to play in Sweden. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=216983&hubname=
  13. Brian Lee will see his first action in a Senators uniform at an NHL Team Rookie tournament in Kitchener, Ontario 7-10 Sep 07. http://senators.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=336240
  14. Exactly, the skippies only show up when they think their team has actually accomplished something, like matching perms. Where were you in nineteen tickety-two? Grand Forks!
  15. On Badger teams of the past I would have agreed with you but not under the Eaves system. Turris will be extremely frustrated, one and done.
  16. That move wouldn't surprise me. You know that Duncan and Oshie will get plenty of attention so why not put a pure sniper with them. If it works out, anyone want to bet on WCHA ROY.
  17. This thread is starting to remind me of a certain Simpsons episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPYo7TNMPCs&NR=1
  18. Now 5-2 for Team USA and Canada is up 3-1 on the Czechs. The Finns beat the Russians earlier today to win their pool and will play the Swedes in the Gold Medal Game.
  19. Another Mickey Mouse tournament in Eastern Europe as only the top team from each pool goes straight to the Gold Medal game. Did they ever stop to think that the top two teams might just be in the same pool The best UND recruits can do now would be a Bronze by Toews, but given that Canada only plays for Gold they will likely come home empty-handed.
  20. 1. UND - If Lammy is both healthy and consistent start to finish. After that positions 2 through 7 should be really interesting but here is my best WAG at it: 2. UMTC - We at UND have recently witnessed that a young D can dash all expectations 3. MTU - Or was Lars Helminen really the heart and soul of last years team 4. CC- They have the lineup and experience to get it done, goaltending could be the one issue. 5. SCSU - No Bobby, but a decent lineup. 6. UW - Elliot is gone so let's see if their top recruits can have an immediate impact 7. DU - Still have some great talent but to many unexpected hits in the off season. 8. MSU- As long as the Gophers don't take out their goaltenders. 9. UMD - I wish I could pick a different outcome for this team but they do not have anything close to a replacement for the two players they lost early to the Pros. I still look forward to them killing the Gophers at the end of the season. 10. AA- Nothing further needs to be said. A bunch of overage players will make them dangerous competitors on any given night. Note to Gophers, the overage players seem to have their best games against an inexperienced D.
  21. Wayne Scanlan, the Ottawa Citizen writer who broke the O'Brien story told me this afternoon that everyone fully expects the kid to be assigned to his Major Junior team following the Senators training camp. This is a simple matter of a kid who wants maximum playing time to accelerate his progression to the Pros and he wasn't convinced that Lucia was going to give him enough playing time.
  22. And another poster stated that Ottawa is in a desperate situation with respect to restocking their farm team and are willing to sign anyone who is closest to being ready. Want further proof of their desperation check out this signing: http://senators.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=335852
  23. What does it says about a program or how the players feel about their coach if a kid wouldn't even tell his head coach he is considering his options. Supposedly, all of these guys commit because they can't wait to play for UMTC but the evidence suggests this all changes once they get there. Obviously, all is not well in Lala-land
  24. Personally, I don't think O'Brien is ready and I didn't think Lee was either if you look back at some of my other posts. What is a fact is that Ottawa is in a position where they have to sign prospects who are closest to being ready. As it turns out the Senators probably aren't going to sign O'Brien as they signed Richardson as a D spare yesterday. However, if nothing else, the Ottawa Citizen article probably likely caused Lucia to experiecne a slight increase in his pucker-factor. As an aside, Paukovitch signed a contract with Edmonton. http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app/?service=pa...rticleid=335779
  25. I would like to see Ben Blood in the Kelly Green, wouldn't you. In answer to your highlight, they lost Preissing and Saprykin from the NHL team and several others from Binghampton. The problem is that Binghampton didn't have very much talent to start with. Other than Hennesey and Elliot they don't have any NHL ready spares to call upon. These moves are a restocking of Binghampton and insurance for the parent club. Update, I tried to find out if this is a done deal and couldn't get a straight yes or no answer; however, it was suggested that the club is concerned about a professional rehab of his shoulder? What is it with Gophers and bum shoulders?
