  1. Malone would be a nice pick up but Siouxnami said Western Canada and Malone is from the far East. There isn't alot of talent left in Western Canada for 07 that isn't already claimed other than Bloodoff but I believe he may be going to the WHL. Or is Siouxnami talking about 08 and David Toews?
  2. So was Toews, and he still is What I find interesting is that, up until yesterday, a certain group of WCHA fans gushed that Kristo could very well be the blue chip recruit of his year group. One day later these same fans are exclaiming that he will never be as good as Parise or that he will never skate a day in the NCAA. Their team has already tapped into Austria and Wisconsin, so any guesses on where their next great contender/pretender will come from?
  3. At the U18 tournament in the Czech Republic, USA and Canada will play for Gold on Saturday as both teams swept their respective pools 3-0. Unfortunately Belfour has been his team's backup. Updated. This post has been simplified for a Skippy, the State of Hockey. By the way Skippy, besides the obvious seperation by a comma afeter the Czech Republic, the word both implies two. Example: Phil the Krill now realizes that this coming season he will be playing in BOTH the AHL and the NHL.
  4. Who is that standing over you PCM?
  5. Based on current trends in recruiting and turning Pro and if Kristo continues to develop at his current pace he will be the Sioux lineup before 09.
  6. The teams feature most of their best players who have only played junior hockey. Like the Russians with Malkin at the most recent WJC, some of the elite players are already playing in Pro leagues throughout Europe and will join their respective national team for the tournament.
  7. Toews was only 16 when he committed to UND.
  8. You forgot that he still has that one move but I can't call him that anymore. Due to his handling of both the draft and subsequent contract negotations he has managed to annoy numerous Bruins Bloggers and they have now dubbed him "Phil the Krill".
  9. obviously david Toews is, via winnepeg like his bro. tessier i dont know, but this... thanks to western college hockey blog suggested to me that he was from quebec?? --Kelsey Tessier-Colorado Outlaws AAA-Best friend of David Toews. Ranked as 10th best player for QMJHL draft by ISS. Excellent vision and a great skater.--
  10. Fitting that a UND sticker would be looking down at all the Gopher $^%# that normally fills "The John".
  11. At least your your team has the number one lock on choking. By the way how can you be Goldies Girl as he was neutered many years ago.
  12. Everyone on campus needs to show Jonathan a ton of appreciation this season. After all, could any of us have walked away from close to $1M dollars at barely 18 years of age.
  13. My coworkers don't get to see my Sioux attire and collectibles on a regular basis so I proudly display a University of North Dakota puck on my desk, front and center.
  14. Keep the water bottles away from the other team.
  15. I think Ottawa believed they were going to sign Thompson when they agreed to Elliot returning to Wisconsin. However, with only four Pro quality goalies they could find themselves in trouble with an injury to any one of them. You don't leave your NHL or AHL team short so they will have to sign one more capable Goalie. This late in the game I just can't imagine where they are going to find an affordable replacement other than their ninth round pick
  16. Interesting because the Senators had listed every other transaction including the two signings yesterday on their website roster and depth chart. That leaves them one goaltender short to fill the four minor league slots in the AHL and ECHL. I don't see anyone else in their prospect list who is ready other than Elliot and they don't have the money to go free agent shopping within the existing goaltender pool. I don't see them trading to get that fifth goalie so that kind of narrows their options doesn't it. http://www2.ottawasenators.com/eng/Team/depth.cfm
  17. I wouldn't worry about this year as Ottawa is set on D. The only outstanding issue for the Senators is whether or not they will sign Bucky's Goalie. Word here in Ottawa is that another NHL team (Islanders?) is looking at signing away the number three on their goalie depth chart, Billie Thompson. If that happens they will have a hole to fill.
  18. Why don't you get it PCM. If you were an Admiral in Millwaukee you must be dead.
  19. Speaking of Grieco, I guess no one bothered to tell the St Michaels Major Junior team that their goalie prospect has decided to go to college instead. He is in their current Meet the Prospects feature on their website. http://www.stmichaelsmajors.com/features/p...cts.php?id=1106
  20. You can add another to the growing list of early exits as Salcido just signed with the Ducks. With a loss like that, it is doubtful that CC will make the WCHA top five this season. http://www.anaheimducks.com/press/release/...604&id=1394
  21. He was Rookie of the Year in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League last season which doesn't alwasy translate into success at the next level but he definitely has the potential.
  22. There is no rule change that will make goaltending equipment smaller, only more frequent checks of current rules by officials. Start a rumour like that and you are likely to give Briggs heartfailure as he's already a big enough sieve. http://www.uscho.com/news/id,12647/ReportO...teeMeeting.html
  23. Great Post, I hope he has room to paint a little HC reminder on his mask.
  24. This thread is about Toews, a Sioux player; however, if you want to talk apples and oranges so be it let's do the comparison. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away and in terms of actually playing college hockey, Hirsch put up some impressive numbers riding the coat-tails of a North Dakota Boy named Potulny. It is very likely that some Sioux players will put up impressive numbers playing alongside Toews. Toews plays both sides of the puck equally well and is a born leader, Hirsch does not and we all know who has the skeletons in their closet. Besides, if I were you, I would be more worried that the second coming of Hirsch might take your team in a whole new direction.
  25. It was the Canadian Sportscenter. He is getting alot of coverage at the tournament and I will be very surprised if he doesn't have a C or A on his chest for the Worlds.
