I would love to see him play for the Sioux but I fear he will commit elsewhere before there is an sure opening for him.

I guess they aren't discussing any hockey over on GPL yet. Thanks for just extracting a couple of sentences out of my post and presenting them out of context. First off I clearly stated that the intial USCHO poll is typically meaningless so it wouldn't matter whether the pollsters care about anyone outside of their own division anyway. Secondly, my comment that the Sioux are generally overlooked an across the board statement, and if you want an example outside of the voted polls just think Hobey Baker. Your damp little hole awaits you.

How would anyone outside of the Gopher lockerroom ever know if it has happened?
-
Unless he got traded to Washington that would be impossible. Edmonton is not playing so the other player named Green perhaps?

Smaby with an impressive shot block to end the 1st period in Montreal, a 1-1 tie.
-
Exactly, he probably would have been a Blarney's regular at a different school.

The Analysts at TSN seem to think so. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=10460&hubname=

Why is that year after year the same fans get worked up over the intial USCHO poll. Recall that year after year the explanation remains the same. Your grandmothers in North Dakota and Minnesota have more hockey sense and knowledge than some of the so called expertise from out East. North Dakota will never get their attention or accolades because many of them couldn't even tell you where the school is located nor do they care. On the other hand they know that Wisconsin and Minnesota are in cities and have the bigger schools so that must make them better. As always the landscape will change dramatically over the next three weeks and many of their personal little eastern favorites will soon disppear from view. This is one fall ritual that everyone should just laugh off. Personally, I would like nothing better than a Sioux repeat win of the Beanpot

Just days to go and no sign of a dataflix option/offer. That would be just like the the REA staff to cut the faithful viewers of the past two years adrift.

This didn't make the news up here in Canada. I had no idea they took the loss to Holy Cross so badly and I am surprised they didn't burn Blarneys to the ground while they were at it.

Goon, all I have to say is 24>5.

Great pics so keep them coming. Looks like someone is trying to stick close to Koivu in order to learn some more moves.

PCM, it is only thanks to you that everyone in the midwest knows all about the Mighty Oshie.

Unlike the age bias that haunts discussions on this site from time to time, it is not a factor in considering top Pro prospects. Do you honestly believe that age was a liability for Crosby, Toews or even Boston's Phil the Krill. Besides the obvious skill and performance related assessments, character is more likely to impact one's placement hence the latters recent plunge. Oshie is amongst an elite group and if one is to question his placement, then perhaps a lack of media exposure and hype outside of the midwest is to blame.

Right you are, so I stand corrected, he already is a real Gopher.
-
I believe that Zajac will be this seasons pleasant surprise.
-
Do you have any proof that he has already been to Blarney's or is this just word of mouth.
-
The team has the required depth at all positions and IMO the total number of goals scored this season should hinge on the progression of two key D-men, Lee and Radke. If both can realize their offensive potential this season, this lineup has the potential to set an all-time Sioux goal scoring record.

He is joking which is why he inserted the wink.

I can't wait
-
At least the Sioux goalies will decide who is the #1 on the ice instead of in a beer drinking contest at Blarney's
-
I was not a Scott Stevens fan but I never considered any of his checks to be illegal or cheap. Others like Phaneuf have taken over where he left off so if you cut across ice at the blueline with your head down you had better be ready for impact. For those who do like it there is always croquet

Although they won't miss his D blunders, Harrington was a big factor in UMTC scoring last season. If and when he did get possesion of the puck he was very good at the quick and accurate passes. I still believe that when it comes to scoring this years UMTC team will be quite challenged hence my comments within the rankings thread. I would imagine that Ogopogo will be given enough ice time that he should outscore Watkins but I would give the nod to the Sioux players for all of the other pairings.

For those who pick the Gophers to be in the top three at the start of the season I would like to hear where you think they will get their leadership and scoring from. Ogopogo is probably the only can't miss freshman but he can't carry the team's scoring by himself. Despite their talent the Sioux had a slow start last season with that many freshmen in their lineup too. UMTC will be fortunate to stick in the top 10 until after Christmas.
