The Redhawks would be #2...That said everything lags miles and miles behind NDSU football.
-
The only place where hockey is bigger than football in ND is Grand Forks/Grafton.
-
Football is king in ND and it isn't close. That said football is king pretty much everywhere in this country.
-
Well at least they don't have to go to SUU anymore. Worst road trip in all of DI. The league does need to add another eastern school, somebody to pair with WIU or IPFW.
-
All I can say is that the Summit has done a nice job in getting away from that model and building a solid footprint. That conference is a mess, talk about a travel nightmare.
-
Ohio State spends more on football then UND spends on its entire athletics department. When it comes to football only a select few have the ability to compete. The rest are just playing for meaningless bowls or chose to be the in the FCS. Don't compare it to hockey, it just doesn't work.

Valpo would be the be last team to get a 12, so not in the decade. What I said was based on this yahoo article..... http://sports.yahoo....-235101188.html
-
I am not pounding my chest at all. I will only do that in regards to NCAA tournament success, which has been absent for either conference for a while now. What I am doing is stating what has happened. A summit team was in discussion to get a possible at-large, somebody made it seem like that is never the case. Somebody else also said the Summit will never get a 12 seed which is just ridiculous, especially since it has happened before.
-
Hey I'm not the one that said the committee seeded the Summit champion and then never talked about the conference again. If a Summit team was mentioned on national TV by the committee chairman, clearly they talked about a Summit team beyond the auto-bid winner.
-
Except in 2012 right? You know when the committee chairman went on CBS and told the entire nation that a Summit League team was the last team out of the field.
-
If there was no beer and they couldn't give away tickets they would struggle to draw over 1500.
-
Would be a nice add for the WAC, especially if UMKC is wanting back into the Summit.
-
The people that know what they are talking about said partial. NDSU doesn't have a lot of money left and I'm guessing a full scholarship was already given to one DT commit.

Philip Nelson leaving Minnesota football program
FargoBison replied to UND-FB-FAN's topic in Football
Gopher fans are arrogant and really they haven't earned the right to be arrogant about anything on the gridiron. Their coach though is about as far from arrogant as you can get. He was in Fargo this summer to see what NDSU football is all about. He is a humble and down to Earth guy. I have a ton of respect for Kill and with him at helm it is easy to want the Gophers to win. As for Nelson I think he would be best suited to go to a MAC/CUSA/AAC/MWC school, not sure he is good enough for Texas Tech or UCLA. -

The quarterfinal game was on ESPN....I guess that is now on par with your bowl game. -

You Gopher fans say this all the time. Blah...Blah..Blah. Your offense isn't good enough to beat NDSU with ease. -

Doubt it. NDSU vs the Gophs would have been a good game this year. -

You don't have examples yet you make the same idiotic clam throughout the thread. Not sure what to say really, I mean Brock had 44 TDs this year and just 7 ints. That to me is a bit beyond average and doesn't really sound like a guy that is making all of these mistake that the team must constantly overcome. He made some bad mistakes as a junior but this year he was pretty sharp. Again the Gophers beat a Northwestern team without their starting QB and RB. It was a win vs a terribly banged up team....that ended up 5-7. Yeah that really sounds like something better than beating an 8-5 Big 12 team on the road. Really I have no idea if the only football some of you watch is UND and Minnesota. If so it might explain some of the things that I am reading. It is truly beyond bizarre. -

I never said NDSU would beat Bama or FSU or even be competitive against teams of that caliber. All I've talked about is K-State...you know the team that NDSU actually did beat. Northwestern....please. That team was beat up when the Gophers beat them and was in middle of a tailspin that they didn't recover from. K-State would demolish that team. There is a reason why that team finished 5-7 and nowhere near even receiving votes. Seriously you bash my football knowledge and bring up Northwestern. I could have bought Penn State but Northwestern...wow. Nebraska though was at least respectable. Not better than K-State but respectable. I still remember SDSU running for a billion yards vs Nebraska and then the next week getting negative yards against NDSU. -

It's not my fault the Big 10 was garbage this year. Who did the Gophers beat that was better than K-State...if I'm delusional it should be an easy answer.... -

Average or not. They were better than any team the Gophers beat. Home or away. -

Have some examples of the team having to overcome Brock's mistakes this year? I am pretty sure I watched him lead the team on a game winning drive at a Big 12 stadium against a decent K-State team. Can't remember Nelson leading the Gophers on a game winning drive against any decent team on the road. -

Anyone is fair game until signing day. -
I don't know what is in Coach K's contract but the assistant pool salary will remain the same from last year.
-
There is no doubt that he wanted to avoid a circus at all costs. It would have been bad for recruiting and distracting for the team that is still competing in the playoffs. But he did wait a week before naming a coach, not sure he really panicked. I actually thought he handled the whole thing very well.
