  1. NDSU and UND are very similar academically.
  2. I would like to see Idaho and NMSU get involved, even if it doesn't mean football comes with... UND NDSU USD SDSU UNO Denver Weber St Montana Montana St No. Colorado NMSU Idaho Now that would be a great conference....could even add UCD and CP for football only to make it even stronger.
  3. They are not well supported both in terms of fans going to game and actual $$$. I remember a few years ago it was reported that IPFW's athletic department received $100,000 in donations from alumni.
  4. They visited 4 schools....who knows how many they interviewed. All I know is that they had a list of 16 schools at one point and then it was reported they were visiting four.
  5. The OVC has an ESPN TV deal, is very stable and has a very tight footprint. The MVC couldn't get Belmont...I doubt anyone goes to the Horizon.
  6. Dom said about 20 times that he thought the MVC would take ORU, which is probably going to be incorrect but he never really made it seem like it was a slam dunk that NDSU and SDSU were going to join....Two MVC AD's told Dom the MVC had some interest in NDSU so it wasn't like he was speculating wildly.
  7. They didn't start the MVC rumors....those came from KC. I doubt an OVC school would leave for the Horizon...sounds like there is going to be a lot of movement within that conference.
  8. Ground will break on the SHAC in 2013 but building the SHAC won't move NDSU 400 miles south unfortunately...which appears to be NDSU's main issue with MVC.
  9. Nope the Big Sky can have SUU. NDSU and UND academically are a wash...sorry to break it to you. Both schools have their strengths.
  10. They couldn't compete in anything so they went to the WAC. Denver leaving the WAC and joining the Summit must at least say something about the quality of the league vs the one that UMKC is joining.
  11. Academically NDSU would be one of the top public schools in the MVC. Geography is always an issue. At least the MVC would be taking the Summit's trash in UMKC and not a good school like Denver.
  12. I think the CAA would try to add Stony Brook for all-sports and perhaps Albany as well. Both just joined the CAA for football.
  13. Doesn't sound like it....doubt that will stop lakes and his message board crusade though. I think the MVC will add one private school and stick with 10.
  14. The NIT always favors high majors, I get that. NDSU has the second best RPI left out per rpiforecast so that is why I think he has a point to talk about it. Plus the team was 19-4 with Taylor Braun. If he plays those 10 games he missed NDSU probably has the autobid locked up and is likely hosting game. It sucks but that is life I guess.
  15. I don't really care about what Saul complains about. I listened to him on 740 the fan and he spent about a minute talking about the NIT. Yeah he really is complaining about it constantly. I'm glad he thinks his team should be in the NIT, it isn't like he doesn't have a point.
  16. KVLY's video is misleading.... http://www.inforum.c...icle/id/393765/ Of course you also bashed Saul because he got emotional about not getting his one senior to the NCAA tournament in his four years at NDSU. Not sure what your deal is with Saul. It is really kind of pathetic.
  17. Yeah I could see us getting a home game in the CBI, we would probably be a top seed in the CIT but we have some kind of contract for non-conference games with the group that runs the CBI so it is likely we'll go with them. Not sure where UND will end up, would be cool if you played Oral Roberts if you got into the CIT.
  18. NDSU will likely be in the CBI.
  19. Actually it appears they had a conversation, I'm guessing the MVC was feeling them out but no offer was made. @joeboo22 @jackrabbitden @MileHighMids Not officially, it doesn't sound like. Might have been a feeling-out discussion. — Stu Whitney (@stuwhitney) March 9, 2013
  20. Summit League commissioner Tom Douple says Denver informed Missouri Valley they will stick with Summit and not replace Creighton in Valley. — Stu Whitney (@stuwhitney) March 9, 2013
  21. I have some doubts about Denver being added but I could certainly see Belmont.
  22. You can add Xavier and SLU to that, which would give them 10. But oddly I doubt the A10 will be at 10 for long.
  23. This is fiscal insanity. If our legislators can't handle all the revenue we are making then it is time to elect new legislators. We are in a position to set our state up for decades, we shouldn't squander this opportunity because we won't get a second chance. There is only so much oil in the ground. Right now production is at record levels so obviously both the state and oil companies are doing well, the companies wouldn't be here if that wasn't the case. If we have so much revenue why not set up a higher education endowment, we could setup our universities for a long time.
  24. Al's oil company handout bill passes through the senate.... http://bismarcktribune.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/senate-oks-bill-restructuring-oil-tax/article_fdee51d4-8065-11e2-992a-001a4bcf887a.html
  25. Looks like the Washington Post C7 article was way off.... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/191910991.html
