Kolpack's take on this will be priceless..........

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. I and many others have said on this board a hundred times that the game will not happen as long as Gene Taylor is at the helm. This is just another example of Taylor's shady business practices. I have to chuckle a little bit when I think about GT whining on the radio and TV when Montana St. backed out of their contract. Sure this is a bit different since there was no signed contract but it is now public record that Taylor verbally agreed to the series then, sat on the contract for a year, then after two years demanded to change terms of the verbal agreement. Ah well, not the first time Taylor has been caught in a lie, and surely won't be the last. I actually prefer they don't play in football, mainly because I feel it makes the rivalry games in the other sports all that more intense. But the funniest thing to me about the article was when GT emailed Faison and said: Not long after that, he proceeded to agree to home-and-home agreements with Montana and Weber St. You can't make this stuff up. So to all the Bison fans that say that FU "holds all the cards", or "calls the shots", or "doesn't need the game", you can all just check that at the door. It is pretty obvious that the only reason the game isn't happening is because Taylor holds a grudge toward North Dakota. That is fine, I am not complaining about it, that is their prerogative.

2016 will be year #3 of Bubba Ball, and will be a favorable schedule as Montana and EWU are both absent from the schedule. I'm already calling it: North Dakota 2016 Big Sky Champions.

What Should Be On UND's Wish List for the New ND?

Close to 6,000 if I recall correctly. -
The offense is pretty weak........

I assumed it would be ideal to stick with the same instructor throughout, but also wondered if it would be possible to complete the training from two separate instructors from two separate airports, or do you have to stick with the same place throughout? The reason I ask is because I wondered about taking the bulk of the lessons from a closer airport to me like Jamestown, Valley City, or Devils Lake which are all only a little over 50 miles from me, but also logging a portion of the hours from a place like GFK or Fargo. The reason I ask, is because I understand weather can obviously be a limiting factor in getting hours in. Fargo and GFK would surely offer more available planes and more available instructors, but they are twice as far away from me. On the other hand, Jamestown/Valley City apparently only has one plane and one instructor, so booking flight time on short notice could be problematic at times I assume. Perhaps I am really over-complicating this.
-
I haven't contacted anybody yet, but GFK's website says $99 dry for rental and $49 for instruction. On-Site Aviation out of Hillsboro, their website says $120 wet and $60 for instruction.

I figured there would be some members here that would have some ideas on this subject. I'm really thinking about taking flight lessons to get a private pilot certificate. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts/ideas on the best route to go. I live about equally between Devils Lake and Jamestown, and also from Grand Forks and Fargo. Since I spend a lot of time in GF already, I have been investigating GFK Flight Support, but really am open to taking a look anywhere. Also looking at On-Site Aviation in Hillsboro, but think I may learn more based out of a busier airport like GFK or Hector. Wondering if anybody has any experience with GFK Flight Support or any other options, either obvious or not, and what advice you could give. Thanks in advance.

That's what he meant.

Don't know if she was recruited by North Dakota, but I read that she has family ties to NDSU. I think both her father and brother were former NDSU athletes........

Agree 100%

North Dakota Hockey.....................

USD is committed to basketball. They are traditionally strong, and will likely be strong again. They are also building a new arena that will be attached to the Dakota Dome.

Brewster named new Women's BB Coach

Let's continue the discussion without the sidebar of anyone's sexual orientation. That subject has no bearing on the topic at hand. This is, after all, a sports website. -

NDSU's new women's basketball coach, Maren Walseth, signs 5 year deal worth $150,000 per year. -
And the Metro Atlantic has a higher Men's Basketball RPI than the Summit. Do you think your favorite school should make a move?
-
And in 2008 the highest attended games were Texas A&M-Kingsville and Western Washington, so perhaps UND should look at either the Lonestar or GPAC for membership. Hardly an apples to apples comparison. I'd say when using college hockey as an example in this comparison, you'd have to reverse the situations. Big Ten Hockey Conference = Big Sky Conference. NCHC = Summit/MVFC. Also, we still play all the "Dakota 3" that some people are so infatuated with just about every year in just about every sport. A move to the Summit would have the net effect of trading future contests with Montana, Montana St., and Weber St. for games against the likes IPFW, IUPUI, and Western Illinois.

If you wanna see the Sioux play often, your best bet for a day trip is Grand Forks. I'm far more concerned about how to get fans to home games first, than I am about how to get them to travel to road games no matter how far or close they are. As someone who has attended football games at NCC, Great West, and Big Sky venues, it seems the number of Sioux fans is usually about the same where ever I go regardless of the distance, near or far. So, honestly, I think the "ease of travel" argument is a hollow one. Sioux fans travel in force for hockey, not so much for other sports. Which is a reason I am against a pre-determined site for the Big Sky Basketball Tournament. Probably had a couple hundred Sioux fans at Weber this year for the tourney. Sure, you'd maybe get a couple hundred more at a neutral site. But you'll get 3,000 strong when it is held at the Sioux Center.
-
Are you implying that North Dakota would be better off in the Summit because it would be easier to win titles than it is in the Big Sky? Would you also prefer that that the hockey team join the new WCHA?
-
How often do you get up to Grand Forks for a game? A Big Sky school leaving for the Summit would be like a Big Ten school leaving for the MAC.
-
In every sport. In academics. In profile. In desireability. Big Sky trumps in every aspect. Not even close.
-
A move like that would be a major step backwards for North Dakota, no doubt about it.
-
To be fair, Jones got close to "the dance" two seasons ago, then got even closer this past season. Sorry, but I think the likes of Weber St. is a bigger problem, seeing as how they actually affect our program in a tangible way.

I don't believe I ever said that. I've just never understood how or why some fans think FU is doomed to fail whenever they lose a coach. They invest in their athletic programs and they have a history of success in several areas, so I think it is unlikely they will fall off the face of the Earth whenever a coach leaves. History doesn't suggest that. I guess I just don't relate with the theory that for North Dakota to succeed, then FU must fail. Maybe I have higher standards than some, but I don't subscribe to the idea that UND can only do well in the years that NDSU struggles. Perhaps I am in the minority, but others are free to feel otherwise.
