  1. Thank you for the insight. The intro video is great, there is no problem with that. I still will question the decision not to have the lights off during the intro though. It seems they have done it for three years prior and has worked fine. In fact, I really thought the way they powered them back up during the National Anthem was great and actually added to that part of the event as well. It also seems to give plenty of time for them come back on. It may seem like a small thing, but UND/Alerus has really struggled over the past several years with the pregame intro for football. I thought they finally solved it two years ago when they picked Welcome to the Jungle as their run-out song with a dark building and a solid intro video. There is a huge regression in that area this year. I'm a middle aged guy that has been a season ticket holder for hockey for about 10 years now. I still get goosebumps every night when the REA goes dark and the pregame build up starts. I would imagine the average 20-something year old college student gets even more amped up during that. There is no reason this can't go on for football. There are few FCS venues that are as well equipped as the Alerus is to put on a high quality pregame display, yet for some reason, it is something that continues to be overlooked. I know I am being redundant, but UND would do well to pick an entrance song and stick with it for the long term. I was hoping they had done that with Welcome to the Jungle. I can't hear the song Thunderstruck come on the radio and not think of NDSU's pregame dog and pony show. I can't hear Enter Sandman come on the radio and not think of Virgina Tech's run-out. Many of us often point out that there are 3 problems with gameday atmosphere for UND football: the product on the field, tailgating, and the in-game production. Bubba seems to be doing his part to improve the area that he controls. It is now up to the Alerus and UND to do their part. And there is plenty they could easily do..............
  2. Dale Lennon's Salukis took down #10 Liberty tonight.
  3. I'm not implying that Studsrud doesn't have plenty of room to improve. Just pointing out that the team has been fairly successful with him under center. Statistics are fun but the most important statistic to me is that UND is 5-3 overall since he was thrown into the fire, and 3-1 so far on the season. No need to fix what isn't broken IMO. Injuries are unfortunate, but they are part of the game. QB controversies are also unfortunate, but with a 3-1 record so far, I don't think we have one. One of the MANY problems this program has had is that is has been "unsettled" at the QB position since Danny Freund graduated. IMO this program still has many areas of concern, but the quarterback play is far from the top of the list.
  4. I would think it would be pretty tough to pull a starting QB that has won 5 of his last 6 starts.........
  5. After the dismal 2nd half against Drake and the debacle in Fargo, this is one of those games where the fan base could really get turned off if the team comes out and lays and egg. This is the type of game we should win in our arena. Davis isn't horrible, but they aren't great either. And they are not a bad matchup for our team. Statement game for sure.
  6. I agree that the Big Sky's decision to change the format of the Basketball tournament was an unfortunate one. However, I also think the location of the Summit tournament is a weak argument as well. Based on the number of fans that show up for games at the Sioux Center, I find it unlikely that North Dakota would have a large contingent of fans at a conference basketball tournament regardless of where it was held, except of course in Grand Forks. I've attended games all over the country and have come to the conclusion that UND fans really don't travel well unless the game is being played on ice.

  8. See, and I think it did break the right way. Conference games against the likes of Weber, Montana, Montana St., Northern Colorado. Then non-conference games against some combination of the Dakota schools, UNI, maybe UNO. ESPN ranks Weber as one of the Top 50 NCAA basketball programs of all time for cryin' out loud. Nobody really wants to come out and say it, but the biggest reason that alot of people get behind the idea of being in the SumValley is because they are enfatuated with playing against NDSU as often as possible. It's the same reason everyone hates Big Ten Hockey, but if the Big Ten considered affiliates, that'd be OK. That's my opinion anyways.
  9. So, you would be more inclined to drive to the Betty to watch USD but not to watch Weber St?
  10. I lean toward Roughriders. It is one of the "State Nicknames". It's unique, at least as NCAA nicknames go. I think most people would get behind it eventually. I can see the argument for NoDaks too.....
  11. I moved all of the conference comparison posts here. Carry on..........
  12. Think small, be small I guess. If NDSU were in the Big Sky, how many Summit/MVFC backers would still prefer the Summit/MVFC? I think I know the answer........
  13. I disagree. Fans won't even go to games in Grand Forks, so I call BS on the idea that they are going travel in droves to Cedar Falls, Carbondale, Macomb, or even Vermilion or Bookings. I think it is unfortunate that more North Dakota fans don't embrace the unique opportunity that being in the Big Sky offers.
  14. Rankings are cute, but unless Idaho, Weber, Idaho St., Cal Poly, Montana, UC Davis, Montana and Eastern Washington are all moving to the Summit, I personally have no interest..........
  15. So here's my take on the state of the offense (or at least what I am hoping) as we go forward through Big Sky play............... So there are only 3 teams in the conference that really make a point to emphasize the run game: Cal Poly, Northern Arizona, and North Dakota. As such, most Big Sky defenses aren't built to defend a "run-first" team. This is why UND is going have more success rushing the ball as we go forward. You have to build your team to win your conference. Mussman thought the best way to do it was through the air. Bubba seems to think the best way to do it is on the ground.
  16. Wow. Per Tom Miller, Dustin Iverson has been released from the team. That's impactful.......
  17. I suppose I expect better of the members of this site, especially UND fans because I am biased that way. Virtually the entire moderating team has been monitoring this forum today. Some things have been let go, in other instances action has been taken accordingly. This is not an anti-NDSU site, it is a pro-UND one.
  18. AGAIN WITH THE LANGUAGE AND "CLEVER" REARRANGING OF LETTERS. THIS IS BECOMING A VERY CIRCULAR CONVERSATION AND IT IS NOT ONLY BISON FANS CONTRIBUTING.
  19. Studsrud's only loss in his last 5 starts is on the road to the 4 time national champion,.............
  20. ENOUGH WITH THE NAME CALLING, PROFANITY, AND PERSONAL ATTACKS.
  21. AGAIN WITH THE PERSONAL ATTACKS AND NAME CALLING. WE CAN DO WITHOUT IT. THAT GOES FOR BOTH FAN BASES.
  22. I agree on Sanitago, he's probably better suited to play WR, especially now that Smith's redshirt is off. And with Georges out, we don't really have any other speed guys to go with. The O-Line looks like the main problem to me. I'm not smart enough to be able to know if it is talent or technique, but to my untrained eye, I really don't think they performed any worse against NDSU than they did against Drake, at least as far as run blocking goes. I didn't understand the play calling at times against NDSU. This offense isn't built to go empty backfield on 2nd and 7 which it seems like they did several times. Most of the time it seemed like that resulted in a sack and then 3rd and 13+.
