  1. I see where you are coming from..........................I've been adamantly witholding money ever since we went away from the Flickertail moniker.............. Because, afterall, the most important thing about college athletics is not the student-athletes nor what they accomplish on the field of play...........the most important thing about college athletics is what we get to refer to the players as during the climax of a Gary Glitter song.
  2. Who is this "Minnesota" that you speak of? Seriously though.............have the staunch nickname supporters sunk to the point that their new battle cry will be to blame the basketball programs for the demise of the name and logo? Funny, I don't remember alot of backlash being thrown their way back in the ealry 90's when the first Sioux Head logo went away in favor of the geometric one, at time when the Men's Basketball team was dominating and the hockey team was, for lack of a better term, sucking.
  3. What I struggle with most about this year's team is the fact that on multiple occasions, tonight included, UND has entered the half with a managable deficit, a tie, or a lead. Then the wheels seem to always come off in the second half.
  4. I wasn't at the game, but I watched on TV last last night. I didn't notice him get in there. With everyone now healthy, I wouldn't think they'd have put him in there.
  5. 1-10? Although I've tried to be the eternal optimist with this program, sadly I won't make it to the game despite the fact that I've had this circled on the schedule since it came out. I guess a 1-10 record will do that. Santa Claus coming to my town to visit the kids this Saturday sealed the deal.............
  6. Feel free to continue the discussion without the personal attacks and name-calling.

  10. I was just doing a quick glance of the RPI ratings over at realtimerpi.com, and saw that South Dakota's RPI is 118 and the Strength of Schedule rank in #18.
  11. I think you mean Sioux/Bison......... Thanks, I thought it was just two games.
  12. Damn you for interjecting some common-sense............... You make excellent points. I think the frustration comes from the fact that UND basketball has been on a steady regression since Beasley left, going on what?............7 years now, and hasn't really shown many signs of turning around, despite a new coaching staff (which as we all know is supposed turn negative things around in an instant...... ). Personally, my biggest problem is the pro-longed (multiple season) struggles against what should be inferior opponents. Every game against an NAIA opponent last season was nail-biter, and they shouldn't be at a school like North Dakota, regardless of if we are top flight DII, bottom-end NCC team, or transitional DI team. But after 48 hours of grieving the Mayville game, I have put it behind me and am confident the team will put in a good showing against IP-Fort Wayne.
  13. Here's what I've been able to find so far for a baseball schedule........... 14. Schedule This program suffers the most from no conference affiliation. With just 3 softball playing GWC schools, the schedule/travel is brutal. Just 6 home games.
  15. Trying to turn the page on this loss to Mayville now............... Some positives so far this season I think have been the play of Travis Mertens and Spencer Goodman. Mertens has just been a steady and consistent player since he's been here. Seems like you can always count on 9-10 points and 6 or 7 rebounds from him each game. Goodman has been a pleasant surprise, at least to me. Playing quite a few minutes, scoring 8 points a game, and shooting around 45% as a freshman. He looks like he could have a bright future. Patrick Mitchell was off to a great start to open the Montana tourney before spraining his ankle in the final game. Hopefully he heals up quickly, as he and Bledsoe are really the only two guys who could be legitimate scoring threats. Nice to see Bledsoe play so well against Mayville. He can make a big difference when he's at 100%.
  16. Still, a 24 point loss on the road to a Pac-10 team is a little easier for me to stomach than a 12 point loss at home to an NAIA..
  17. In Jones' first two seasons I thought he did a tremendous job with transfers bringing in players in the summer like Emmanuel Little, Earvin Youmens, O.J. Harrison, and Darius Joseph to shore up where help was needed. Youmens and Little were impact players from the start. I would have thought that a JUCO point guard would have been a priority this past off-season. I understand that the Princeton offense is probably not ideal for alot JUCO players to step into for only 2 seasons, but I've heard numerous interviews over the years by both Jones and Moody, where they've said they've never even drawn up plays for Emmanuel Little or Travis Mertens, and in my opinion those are probably the two best players that have been recruited by this staff.
  18. I see that JBB is now copying & pasting posts from SiouxSports.com to the comments section of Wayne's blog.
  19. It's on GamePlan, I'll be there in spirit...........
  20. It is possibly a little late to make a successful change in offensive strategy. He's spent 3 years recruiting to build around a Princeton-type offense. You can't just take a bunch of shooting guards and small forwards and tell them to start posting up Tyler Cain.
  21. I was planning on heading up for Northern Iowa................I think I'll just watch on TV.
