  1. Costigan received an offer from Wisconsin today, so he's probably out................. Link
  2. I don't care for the BCS compared to a playoff system either, but I think it is better than the previous arrangement. In the mid 90's I really didn't care much for having #1 play #5 in the Sugar Bowl and #2 play #6 in the Rose Bowl due to all of the various bowl tie-ins. And then in several cases end up with "Co-National Champions".
  3. Isn't Cameron solely a punter while Miller is a place kicker?
  4. To me, Cincinatti made a better case to be in the BCS Title game than Texas did today. They won by 1 point on the road after trailing by 21 in the 4th against the #14 team in the country. Texas won by 1 point in what amounted to a home game against the #22 team in the country. Never happen though.
  5. Sioux lost by 9 tonight. Actually played pretty decent/gutty, down by 20 at one point and wittled it away to within 6 with 33 seconds to go.
  6. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention...... ................. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Go Griz........bring another title to the "FCS West"
  7. Nebraska got robbed. I didn't have a dog in the fight, but I would have LOVED the chaos created by both #1 Florida and #2 Texas going down on the last day of the season. Great game the Big 12 Championship was.
  8. Fresno St. v. Illinois was great too. 53-52 Fresno St. The Bulldogs went for 2 with 2 seconds left and converted via an O-linemen catching a deflection in the end-zone.
  9. Holy hell! Griz putting up 51 and shutting out a team that smoked us 65-31!? We better get alot better between now and November.............
  10. I don't know much of anything about volleyball, but it seems to me that in addition to Minnesota, UND should start trying to recruit Iowa. All 4 of the DI schools in Iowa finished in the top 100 in the RPI, and Northern Iowa and Iowa State made the NCAA tourney.
  11. I think the point is to see how we measure up against schools who are mostly new to DI like we are, and compare how our transition goes to others in the same boat. 5 of the 7 GWC members are relatively new to DI.
  12. Another injury?........Derek Benter only logged 7 minutes against UT-Arlington. I listened to the game sporadically, and heard Ralston say he didn't come out of the locker room immediately after half, but never really heard anything after that. Mathison didn't get any minutes for the first time this season. Is he injured/sick? Would have thought with Benter limited he would have saw more action. Bledsoe played 11 minutes. No shots, 4 fouls, 4 turnovers. Coach said to expect him to play another 12 minutes or so the next game, which is now Drake.

  14. Ughhhh! Sioux lose 75-65. Led by 7 with less than 1 second in the 1st half but a foolish foul on a 3 point attempt drew Arlington to within 4 at halftime. North Dakota played really well in the first half and totally fell apart after the break. Didn't make a field goal until 7 minutes into the 2nd half. This was a game UND could have won coming into it. UT-Arlington had 3 wins against 3 bad teams coming into tonight.......looks like they now have 4 wins against 4 bad teams.
  15. I thought the last report we heard was that they were somewhat seriously considering converting the old REA into the practice facility.
  16. I agree with you except perhaps in the case of the Schuler kid. He put up some pretty gawdy numbers in what I believe was a pretty high level of high school ball in Ohio. Time will tell........
  17. I think the defensive play is more of an issue right now than the Princeton offense. The zone defense that we play hasn't worked for years, and I don't really think it is ever going to work consistently at the DI level. Giving up 69 points per game is alot at the college level. Offensively, the Princeton is supposed to result in either layups or kick-out passes to open shots on the perimeter. We're not making those perimeter shots, shooting just 32% from beyond the arc. With no offensive inside post threat, this team isn't going to win many games shooting 3 pointers like that. To me, the most frustrating part the Jones era has been the rampant rate of turnovers. The team has had over 400 turnovers every year since he took over, and is on pace for nearly 500 this season. Glas' teams over his last 4 years averaged 363 turnovers per season. Jones' squads have averaged 425 turnovers per season. UND wants to slow the game down, but any advantage in doing that has been negated by giving the opposition extra possessions.
  18. I know he missed all of last season, and the entire second half this year, but I was disappointed with Saporu's play through the first half of this season before he was injured. IMO he struggled alot with fundamental tackling and one-on-one coverage. I think the defense is better off with Watkins starting at CB opposite Hawkins with Saporu as a reserve/Nickel-back. Linebacking corps could be interesting next season. Should be more than solid at one outside position (Kasowski) and one inside position (Dublanko). After that................hope that the freshman are as talented as advertised. RD17---could you expand on your comment about the receivers on this year's team being a better fit for Manke or Freund at QB than it was for Landry?...........IMO, Freund in particular, made alot of his recievers not named Dressler look better than they probably were.
  19. Regarding QB play, and for the record I haven't given up on Landry as he has a hell of an arm and I think is great team leader, but I questioned his decision making several times this season. Example: I can't recall a season in recent years where there have been more intentional grounding calls than this season..........which, to me, shows he gets flustered in a hurry under pressure.
  20. I give the team a C. Positives: -A strong finish, winning 3 of last 4 -Improving defensive play down the stretch -4 quality DI wins coupled with good showings against Texas Tech and UC Davis -Playing themselves into a position to win a conference title in a defacto championship game. -Special Teams play all season long Negatives: -Loss to an NAIA (don't care how good they are, shouldn't have happened) -Inconsistent play all season long -Offensive regression late in the season -I know it is only a one game difference between 6-5 and 7-4, but 7-4 sounds so much better, we should have beaten Sioux Falls, so we should have been 7-4. Looking forward to: -Curtis Dublanko -Mitch Sutton -Ismael Bamba -A secondary with another year under their belts led by Sr. safeties Schwensfeier and Ankenbauer -An offensive line with another year of experience Concerned about: -QB position -WR depth -LB depth/experience -A new kicker
  21. All right, I'm heading out for the hockey game, I'll listen to the rest on the way up to the Forks. Good luck Sioux, turn it around and get the win.
  22. I had devised a complex plan where I would abruptly start screaming really loud whenever Dan Hammer would begin to mention FCS playoff scores. Go ahead and update away.
  23. According to the live stats, UCA just kicked a FG to go up 13-0. According to the radio, cyber-bullying is just plain wrong...........
  24. Another reason for the lame sounding broadcast is because they're having "technical difficulties" (imagine that ).........................No parabolic mic or sideline mic, so no sounds from the field, fans, band, etc...
  25. Dammit UNDvince!!!!! I'm recording that game to watch when I get home from hockey!!!
