  1. Just watched the media day video on Fightingsioux.com. Faison said the men's team is giving up a game next season in order to take part in the Minot flood-benefit game this year. Again, hats off to UND for being so supportive of the Minot area ................................
  2. No........not for free anyways. I've only used the platform a handful of times...............
  3. Northern Colorado does have a message board , but not real busy. Sounds like their secondary struggles to defend the pass, and they can't or don't really run the ball that much. They're pretty high on one of their linebackers, who leads the confernce in tackles and is like 5th in the country. Not really a great match up for North Dakota, but I think we should have a good chance to win if we can limit big plays on defense, and establish the running game. That's pretty much the key for UND no matter who the opponent is.
  4. Big Sky Game Notes Don't forget you can watch the game for FREE on Big Sky TV . But remember you have to register first, and you have only a 5 minute window before game time to log on, otherwise you can't watch.
  5. Hats off to UND for all that they have done in support of the Minot area.......................
  6. Sort of off topic, but just to defend UNC in general, (there is no defending there football program for the past 7 years) but I think they can evolve to be one of the top Big Sky members overall in due time. They have a great volleyball program, the men's basketball team won the Big Sky last year, I beleive their womens basketball team is picked to go 1st or 2nd this year, they just won the Big Sky soccer title...................... I think because their football program has been so completely inept since moving to DI, that their athletic department as whole kind of flys under the radar. If they can get their football program back to at least being a top half Big Sky team, the opinion of their value to the conference will change greatly IMO.
  7. I seriously doubt that the MVC would take any of those schools................................
  8. Yes...............yes it was. And now the Big Sky has the two premier programs fromt that storied conference.............................
  9. I think they would say thanks but no thanks, unless there was exodus of certain members of the Big Sky, as in the Montana schools. No way that UND would downgrade to the Summit/MVFC from their current situation....................
  10. Like I said, the MVC doesn't give a rip about the MVFC. The MVC is generally a top 10 basketball conference, these days even considered a high-major as far as that sport is concerned rather than a mid major. Protecting their status in basketball comes before anything else. Even the very remote threat of the demise of the MVFC wouldn't force that conference to consider lowering their standing in the college basketball world one bit. My guess is not even football playing members like UNI or SIU would go to bat for getting the Dakota Big 3 into the MVC, even if their football league was at stake. Someday down the road, the Dakota Big 3 may get into the MVC, but when/if they do, it won't look anything like the current MVC. The Summit will continue to exist for years to come. There will be plenty of independents, DII move-ups, and Great West teams that would jump at the chance to join if the Summit needs members in the future to ensure their viability. I think they'll be just fine staying at 9 until the right school comes along. A little nervousness will be justified when or if the Horizon starts losing members................
  11. I think history shows that no Summit member has ever been committed to that conference. Maybe Western Illinois, but that is it. Every other member wishes they were in a different league.
  12. The MVC would have no interest in ANY current Summit school. Would hurt their RPI too much. The MVC doesn't give a rip about the MVFC............
  13. The Big Sky has plenty of "directional" schools too............ But it least it doesn't have 20 former members...................
  14. Will be fun to see how Douple approaches this round of expansion...............
  15. I like the idea of no tournament. Make the regular season truly meaningful, rewards the conference champion, saves money, lets the champion rest up, and ensures the best team from the conference goes to the dance.
  16. Just a quick glance at the schedule leads me to believe that North Dakota can win 18-20 games this season, and could be one of the top 2 teams in the GWC. Assuming all of this year's sophomores progress as they should, it should set up nicely to place a very competetive team in the Big Sky next year.................................
  17. I've often thought the same thing. He had good numbers in high school, has a year under his belt in the system, and has a good "frame" for a QB.................. However, I always thought the same thing about Seth Nichols last season when we were rotating between Goska and Hendrickson to end the season, and now he appears to be our best tight end.....................I'm sure the coaches know things we don't.............................. As far as Bradley vs. Comes, maybe a big difference is that Bradley threw a billion passes last season and Comes held a clipboard all year. By all accounts, Comes was in the mix this spring and fall, so I assume he will be the No. 2 as a sophomore heading into the 2012 season..........................
  18. Whoa.............down boy. Just offering my opinion......................could have sworn that's what this forum was for. Didn't know because you and I disagree that makes me "so full of myself". What does that make you?
  19. Point taken, but my argument is that the coaching staff took the game out of the hands of the proven playmakers. My opinion is that yesterday's game plan would have been a better one against an FBS team or an NAIA team, not in a vital conference home game.
  20. I agree that the players need to execute, and they did not yesterday. But I still didn't like the game plan or play calling in the first half. Coming into this game UND, on average runs the ball 62% of the time, and have done so with great success to this point. Yesterday, they threw the ball 17 times in the 32 plays that Bradley was in for. On average so far, he throws the ball 22 times in an entire game. The run game was effective during that time as well gaining 4.5 yards per carry. Yes, players need to execute, I just think it was a questionable decision to go away from the players that HAVE executed throughout the season (O-line and running backs) and rely mostly on receivers that have at times had trouble hanging onto the ball and a QB that thus far has been asked to nothing but hand off and not turn the ball over.......................... I think given the current personnel on the roster, this team is far better suited to use the run to set up the pass rather than vice versa.................
  21. Although disappointing, it was an entertaining game, and AGAIN the Sioux defense put the team in a position to win the game at the end. I believe it was Sicatoka that said this team is a quarterback away from being a very very good team...............that was never more apparent than yesterday. It was a very inopportune time for Bradley to have a bad game. Having said that, and despite the spark that Goska provided, my opinion is that Bradley remains the starter going forward. Despite the subpar play from the qb position yesterday, I feel the game was lost by the play-calling in the 1st half. They should have stayed with their bread and butter from the start, as in the run game. Let Cal Poly take the run game away, don't do it voluntarily.......................... I had no problem at all with kicking the field goal on 4th goal from the 1, because this is real football, not playstation.......................I seem to recall them going for the TD in a similar situation last season at Northern Illinois and it failed so instead of being down by 3 on the final drive in that game and needing a field goal to tie, we ended up losing by 6 if I recall with the team chucking it long trying to get to the endzone rather than to the 30 yard line..............
  22. If true, leads me to believe that it would have been a good thing for Notre Dame to have been in the NCHC..........................
  23. I think North Dakota has a great chance to win this game as long as they perform the way they have in every game thus far.............. If they establish the running game and don't turn the ball over they will win. If Poly comes out and stuffs the run, we are screwed. Two very similar teams that match up well. I like UND because they are at home. If it was in SLO I'd pick Poly........................
  24. The argument for moving the student section is a valid one IMO.......................... Sections 213, 214, and 215 are currently reserved for for students, and the band gets 212. I think they should get 211, 212, and 213. Surrounding the band with students would add to the atmosphere. Sections 214 and 215 should be opened up to prospective season ticket buyers and single game/walk-up ticket buyers. No sense in letting the prime real estate go unused. The west side of the stadium needs to be close to full every week both to intimidate the opposition bench and so it looks better on TV. Might as well move the students now, because they will have to move anyways once we start hosting playoff games every year per NCAA rules..................... Also, if students knew that there was only one section near mid-field rather than 3, that may motivate some of them to make more of an effort to get the better seats..............supply and demand ya know.................
  25. Root Sports would make sense, but I'd be shocked if Versus tied themselves to a weekly game with an FCS conference....................
