  1. I agree. I believe that the Vandals were picked near the bottom of the preseason WAC polls, but it is great none-the-less to beat them in such convincing fashion........... Not saying that that Wall-Evers are nearly as good a combination of Kimbrough-Langen, but it should bode well for UND to have two quality 6-4 post players in the rotation..............
  2. Fun to see North Dakota tonight. I like big men, and thought that Brekke would be more of a factor tonight. But if it is common knowledge that mid-major basketball revolves around the guard postion, I like where UND is at. Webb and Anderson looked real good, Huff had his moments, and Schuler knocked down his shots when they presented. There are alot of good athletes on this team. Don't really know what kind of team ISU is, but it gives me a good feeling to know that we played so well against a Big Sky team in the 2nd game of the year. A few thoughts: -Free throw shooting could still improve.........it was a problem last year -Wilmer did not play due to injury -Didn't hear Spencer Goodman's name called at all. Don't know if he's injured or what........... -Both Brekke and Mathison got into foul trouble fairly early -Lenny Antwi played, but didn't hear Genry or Benton's name called at all. Antwi looks like a very similar player to Aaron Anderson -I thought Jordan Allard played well
  3. Don't get creeped out............Jim McMahon is the greatest football player off all time!
  4. 63 UND 47 ISU FINAL
  5. 56 UND 43 ISU 4:18 2ND HALF
  6. 50 UND 36 ISU 7:33 2ND HALF
  7. 46 UND 31 ISU 11:52 2ND HALF
  8. 43 UND 31 ISU 15:31 2ND HALF
  9. 36 UND 23 ISU HALF
  10. I'd say that potentially reversing the W-L record in a year's time constitutes a good performance from the coaching staff..........................
  11. Yes, the North Alabama game was awesome..................good times, good times. It is looking like this will be the first home game I miss in a few years. My daughter's high school volleyball team qualified for the state tournament this year. Maybe if they make it to the title game, I'll have time to cruise up to GF for the football game before flying back to Fargo for the final.
  12. Big Sky usually has at least 3 good teams. Last year it was EWU, MSU, and UM (but UM missed out of playoffs). This year PSU is looking pretty good although they'll probably miss the playoffs because of the 7 DI win rule. Their 3 losses are to an FBS and to two top 10 FCS teams. The MVFC looks pretty top-heavy to me too. Once you get past NDSU and UNI, who is obviously better than the 3rd place Big Sky team this year? Or last year?
  13. Not very when you are rooting for the Cardinal..............
  14. Great win!
  15. I would think that your new stadium would be a huge asset to UC Davis' growth as an FCS program. I was there in '09 and thought the stadium and the campus was beautiful.
  16. I will say that NDSU has a very good football coach and they also make funding the sport there their top priority. Northern Colorado baffles me. They were very good for the longest time in the NCC, but have been pitiful since moving up. SDSU has actually been surprisingly decent in football since moving up, something they never were in DII. All in all, I'm not shocked that NDSU has a good football program at the DI level. Because they always had a good football program at the DII level.
  17. The ladies fell tonight to Creighton at home, 72-54....................
  18. Whatever your team does this weekend, just don't forget about Sac St...............................
  19. I can't find anything either. I know that I paid to watch the webcast in 2008. Perhaps they don't offer that service anymore?
  20. Reading the Idaho Vandal board there seems to be alot who think that they will end up in the Big Sky. Not necessarily that they want to, but that the think that is where they are headed under the circumstances. Personally, I hope that Bosie St. is successful in getting San Diego St. into the Big East. That would almost certainly mean a MWC bid for Utah St. They would strengthen the MWC in basketball, and fill the market void left by Utah and BYU. I have to think the Utah St. is the only thing keeping Idaho in the WAC. Losing Utah St. would really hurt the WAC as a basketball league. In the Big Sky, Idaho would probably be a top 3 basketball team and a top 3 football team. And without Utah St., Boise St, and Idaho, the WAC loses alot of its luster as a basketball league. If Utah St. gets a MWC bid and Idaho does not, then Idaho to the Big Sky could become a real possibility. If it happens, having Idaho to the west and North Dakota to the east could entrench Montana and Montana St. in the Big Sky for the long term.
  21. I would like to see a legislator ask what would be the actual monetary cost of retaining the nickname.............. Retaining the nickname under current circumstances would mean we accept the NCAA sanctions. By all accounts, accepting the sanctions means UND will not join the Big Sky Conference. So, what are the monetary costs of being independent in all but two NCAA sports? Off the top of my head............ -$600,000 per year to buy home football games -$25,000 per year to have alternate uniforms for the Men's & Women's hockey teams so they can participate in post season events -$135,000 per year in lost revenue sharing from the Big Sky Conference -$20,000 per year in potential lost revenue from not being able to host NCAA playoff women's hockey games -$100,000 per year in potential lost revenue from not being able to host NCAA playoff football games -$200,000 per year in potential lost revenue from guarantee football games (because schools like Iowa and Wisconsin pay way more and are closer than Ball St. and Wyoming) -$,??? per year in lost contributions to Fighting Sioux Club because all but two sports will become non-competetive
  22. Hopefully there's a good contingent of Sioux fans this weekend. I won't be making it this time, but I did in 2009 and it was a blast. Aggie Stadium is a beautiful venue, and of the handful of roadtrips I've made over the years, the UC Davis fans were the friendliest bunch I've come across......... But I do hope that the Aggie team that beat Cal Poly doesn't show up...................
  23. Geez, no kidding amazing how long Hardin played.....................a broken leg? That sucks for him and the team. Luckily, it seemed like Ivery kind of had a coming out party on Saturday.......................
  24. I assume Mark Chipman is worth well over $100 Million. Couldn't find any numbers, but did come across a blog post on NHL.com that he sold the shares of his company for $130 M shortly before he and the wealthiest man in Canada purchased the Thrashers/Jets....................

    UC Davis

UC Davis is 3-6 on the year and 1-2 in the GWC. Their wins are against Cal Poly, TX-San Antonion, and non-scholarship San Diego. Their losses are to Arizona St., Montana St., Hawaii, South Dakota, Southern Utah, and DII Humboldt St. Davis isn't a good match-up for North Dakota. Looks like they are alot like SUU. They pass alot and run very little. A few key stats: -UC Davis is last in the GWC on scoring while UND is 1st in scoring defense -Davis is 4th in total offense while UND is 1st in total defense -The Aggies are last in the league in rushing, but they also have the fewest attempts. They only average 2.9 yards per run -Davis gives up 160 yards rushing while UND averages 166 per game -Davis throws for 238 yds per game, 2nd in the GWC. UND gives up 259 pass yards per game, 4th in the league. -UND is 2nd in the conference in sacks while Davis is 4th in sacks against. -Davis is last in the league in sacks, while UND 1st in sacks against. -Davis is the most penalized team in the GWC -Davis is -1 on turnovers for the year, while UND is +4 A few things look in their favor, a few things look in our favor. I think for North Dakota to be successful, they have to not turn the ball over, establish the run (as usual), and get to the QB. If Davis' QB has time to sit in the pocket, he'll burn Coach Kelling's secondary all day long. Their pass defense isn't stellar either, so hopefully Goska can get a few early down field completions to keep them from selling out to stop the run.
