He won't care.................

The NCAA is a VOLUNTARY orgranization. North Dakota is a VOLUNTARY member of said organization. If North Dakota chooses they don't agree with the NCAA's VOLUNTARY rules and regulations, they can choose to particapate in another athletic organization. Like NAIA and ACHA.................
-
You, sir, amaze all of us with your assinine presumptions........................
-
As far as UND fans go, you are the "fakest" of them all.......................
-
You are the spineless one. Your allegiance is to a cartoon character...........................
-
And that's fine. I doubt they'd miss you. I think though that the University and their student-athletes would probably prefer to go to NCAA events.
-
It doesn't matter how Sioux County votes. Sioux County makes up about 1/5 of the Standing Rock vote. The deadline for Standing Rock's vote is nearly 2 years gone by.......................
-
And a small part of me can't wait until I can be arguing with you over who has a better chance at winning the ACHA National Championship.......................North Dakota or Liberty?.......................

Dead Man Walking. Sad day for the University of North Dakota......................... I feel especially bad for the current student-athletes that participate in Men's Hockey, Football, Women's Hockey, Men's Basketball, and Women's Basketball. Virtually all of them are high profile athletes that were promised an opportunity that none of them will apparently have the chance to acheive.............. Shame on the Supreme Court for not having the balls to tackle this issue. And shame on Sean Johnson, Reed Soderstrom, Eunice Davidson, and John Chaske among others for being so willing to kill the proud tradition of one of the country's great athletic programs..............

FOX to start up a sports channel to rival ESPN
bincitysioux replied to IrishSiouxFan's topic in Other Sports
I wish that were true. But my guess is that this new Fox network will focus mostly on baseball and Nascar. I think that national coverage of college hockey has probably reached its ceiling with NBC-SN and CBS-SN. -
The management of this program has produced two conference titles and two post-season berths at the DI level. What more can you ask of fledgling DI team in transition? Having said that, I'll admit that I feel that this year's team did not meet my expectations. But I also feel that one needs to consider the fact that for all intensive puposes, this year's team basically played two separate months of the season entirely on the road. That would not be easy even for a professional team much less a collegiate team who's core is made up of players that only have one year of experience at the level at which they play. I admit that I've been a Brian Jones apoligist since he was hired (even though I was calling for his head after the loss to Mayville). But despite the inconsistent nature of his teams over his 6 year tenure, it should not be forgotten that his teams have participated in 3 conference championship games, winning two of them. My thought is, knowing that he is able to win titles and recruit dynamic players like Emmanual Little, Earvin Youmens, Troy Huff, and Aaron Anderson says alot about his approach...................

If you do a search on this site, you'll find that Coach Lennon was the one that originally implemented the Co-defensive coordiantor position, after Tibesar left, putting Mannasau in charge of the front 7 and Kelling in charge of the secondary. By all accounts, Kelling was actually the guy that sat in the booth and called the defensive plays up until the 2010 season. Prior to the 2010 season, Coach Mussman stripped play-calling duties from Kelling and gave them to Mannassau. That could explain why he wanted different gig. Look at the stats. Throughout the transition to DI starting in 2008, North Dakota has had an improving run and pass rush offense, while the secondary has continually regressed and become a major liability. IMO, Mannassau needs to be given full authority over the entire defense.

Montana has alot of talent. There will probably be some defections from the most recent signing class, but they would likely have had minimal impact this season anyways. Alot of it depends on who is named interim Head Coach. Are there gonna be wholesale changes, or will one of Pflugard's assistants be annointed? North Dakota's playoff chances for the upcoming season were already very realistic. 4 Big Sky teams will make the playoffs next season. Montana St., Montana, and some combination of Cal Poly, EWU, and/or North Dakota.
-
I think he had a cup of coffee in the CFL.
-
I think Mussman's resume as OC proves that he prefers to chuck it around. The cupboard has just been a little bare talent-wise at some key skill positions since Freund and Trenbeath graduated. Bamba was exciting, but by all accounts was a basket-case. Other than Hardin in 2010, there hasn't been real impressive play at the QB or WR position since 2008.

Way back in the day when Wayne Nelson used to post on his blog, he stated at the time of the announcement of the Sioux-Griz games that Montana's buyout was $100,000. I'd say that under the right circumstances, UM could afford to pay that if they chose to, since any home game for them generates around $600,000 gross. Depends on who they could get in to Missoula.
-
That would be a huge loss. He has done wonders for getting so many UND sports on various media outlets, including Fox College Sports.

This would not be a huge loss IMO..............

Gee, is it OK with you if we speculate at all what the future may hold? The point is that if Utah St. and San Jose St. go to the MWC, it leaves Idaho as the only even remotely attractive opponent for the Montana schools if they made a WAC bid. Utah St. is fairly regional to them, and San Jose would still provide access to California's fertile recruiting grounds. With no USU and SJSU, the WAC becomes even less desirable to any Big Sky team. Theoretically, USU and SJSU's departure from the WAC could force Idaho to realistically look at returning to the Big Sky, which would stabilize the conference far more than the addition of any MVFC team.................

Yes. I don't care how successful or unsuccessful any conference that North Dakota is not a member of is. Except for maybe the BTHC. I hope they fail. I don't have a problem with any Summit member. I don't care of any of them excel or struggle. Well, actually, a small part of me hopes that USD flounders for the near term. They are the ones that really screwed up the football divisions and basketball travel partners for the Big Sky. I bet you thought I'd say I hope that NDSU struggles. Honestly, they rarely come to mind for me.......................... Douple has proven to be very arrogant and dishonest. I would love nothing more than to see the two highest profile programs bolt from his league.

Here is how it will work with the unbalanced schedule: 13 Team, One Division Format Eight-game schedule. Two-rival format. Tiebreaker to determine automatic bid to playoffs. 1. Head-to-head 2. Record against COMMON SCHEDULED CONFERENCE OPPONENTS in descending order. 3. Record against COMMON CONFERENCE NON-CONFERENCE opponents in descending order 4. Record against COMMON NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENTS 5. Ratings System (TBA) 6. Coin Flip Examples of No. 3: If conference teams A & B both scheduled conference team C in a non-conference game (Not scheduled by the league), the results of that game can be used in a tiebreaker. If conference team A played conference team C in a scheduled conference game, but conference team B played conference team C in a non-conference game, that WOULD NOT BE used in a tiebreaker. Examples of No. 4: If conference teams A&B both scheduled the same non-conference opponent (FBS, FCS or Division II), the results of that game could be used in a tiebreaker. Sounds like the ratings system used in #5 would either be Sagarin or GPI, but has not been determined yet.

The topic of this thread is "Conference Realignments". Let's get it back on track. The topic of the loyalty of North Dakota's fanbase vs. NDSU's fanbase can be a valid one. For anyone who wants to continue that discussion, feel free to start a new thread. This is not the place for it.
-
That should take a bit of pressure off of Montana and/or Montana St. moving to FBS in the near term. Idaho would be left on an island.........................

The Summit is losing their marquee member in Oral Roberts. Shortly thereafter, they could potentially lose their marquee-member-by-default in Oakland. This is great news, I hope it happens. DISCLAIMER: I'm not giddy about this scenario because I wish any ill-will toward NDSU. I do however wish for the maximum amount of ill-will professionally for Tom Douple.
