  1. It is a good thing you are such a big fan of St. Cloud. We can all expect a heavy dose of them in all sports if the "Kill the University of North Dakota" supporters prevail when the votes are tallied...................... Actually, I believe SCSU was at the fore-front of the nickname dissidents from the start...........................
  2. Well, your interest North Dakota football is appreciated. But we don't play D1-A football. We play FCS football (DI-AA). SCSU is not now, nor have they ever been relevent in football. We don't play them anymore, but we do play "irrelevent" schools (by your standards) like Montana and South Dakota St. Thanks for playing.......................
  3. ...................to support the University of North Dakota.
  4. And just what, persay, will that data prove? Sioux County is 85% Standing Rock members. But those members only make up 40% of the entire Standing Rock tribe. A tribe which has continually elected leaders that oppose the nickname. I don't think that Sioux County is the silver bullet that you wish it to be.......................
  5. Hope you are right! Like I said, Grand Forks loves a winner.
  6. That sounds like an awesome trip! I'd love to do that. Depending on how the fall work schedule pans out, my family and I planning to load up and head to either the Montana St. or Northern Colorado game for a road trip. As far as attendance goes, I predict a modest jump for this season. If we have a successful season, i could see 2013 being a big attendance year. Grand Forks loves a winner. Hasn't been a ton of marketing for football tix as of yet. I've seen ads occasionally on WDAZ TV, WDAY radio, and about once a month in the Forum newspaper.
  7. On a related note, to me it just a tad bit ironic that most of Bisonville ridicules UND for being in the "far-flung" Big Sky conference because travel will be so difficult for fans. At the same time they praise the MVFC and the Summit League because their fans can so easily make the drive to Vermillion, SD; Macomb, IL; and Omaha, NE. They act as if the navigation systems in their cars would go haywire if they were forced to make that 1 hour drive North on a regular basis. Sure seemed like alot of Bison fans found their way GF for volleyball and basketball games last season....................but it would just be too much of a hassle to get there for a football game..................
  8. Let's hear it. How does the game benefit UND significantly more than NDSU? Financially? No. NDSU's larger stadium would provide a financial windfall for premium-priced tickets. Scheduling? No. Both schools have the same number of conference games predetermined for the next 4 years. So you are willing to schedule home-and-home agreements with traditionally strong and nationally ranked football programs who are located 1,000 miles away from Fargo, but not with traditionally strong and nationally ranked football programs that are located 70 miles from Fargo? Reasoning such as this is why I am not in favor of the game. Why associate ourselves with those who would come up with an ideology like this?
  9. 40 days to go until North Dakota is officially a member of the Big Sky Conference.................
  10. If Nash is eligible this upcoming season, that will give us 8 juniors on this years teams and 8 seniors on the 2013-14 team. Seems as if Coach Jones is going "all in" on the first two years of Big Sky play. Should be fun to see how it plays out....................
  11. All of Bisonville cries foul every other year when the legislature meets regarding funding for NDSU. I found this to be an interesting article. ASK YOUR GOVERNMENT: No easy answer to college funding question
  12. I've been "called out" on numerous occaisons by my willingness to characterize the logo as "cartoonish" figure. Let me be clear: I feel that that the Fighting Sioux name and logo are one of the most beautiful depictions of a symbol in all of sports, both collegiately and professionally. I love the tradition of the Fighting Sioux. I never played sports at the University, but having lived in North Dakota all my life, attended the University and graduated from the University, I consider my self a Fighting Sioux. I think the NCAA's position on this subject is completely wrong and offensive. However, at the end of the day, the current logo that adorns my numerous hats and shirts and walls in my home is nothing more than an artist's rendering of what that one artist alone believes that a Sioux Indian looks like. The current logo is the seventh variation of the Sioux logo to be used in some form by the University. There is only one University of North Dakota, and that is where my allegiance lies. I call it a cartoon to make a point. Cartoons are changed, modified, updated, and evolve over time. Although the name and physical appearance of the drawings may change; the history, traditions, and legacy remain...............
  13. So now DaveK is calling Tim O'Keefe a nazi........................
  14. I get what you are saying, and like I said, I know it is a particular pet-peeve of yours........................ I am primarily a foobabll guy, so I have been focusing on that "ND" on the football helmets for as long as I can remember. Because of that, I've identified UND with "ND" over the course of my life moreso than I have with the Sioux Head. The Sioux Head has changed from the Blackhawk to the Geometric, to the Ben Brien in my lifetime...................all of which are cool, but has been fluid. The "ND" has always been there. I'm actually a bit of Notre Dame fan as well, as far as big time football goes, so maybe that is why I don't mind the interlocking ND as much as you...........or maybe I became a bit of a Notre Dame fan because of the similar logos, who knows?.............
  15. So would that mean that Knight, Blood, Gregoire, Hextall, Frattin, Kristo, and Grimaldi are all "Eades Recruits" ?
  16. I'm not totally plugged in to hockey............. Can someone explain what defines a "Berry Recruit" vs. an "Eades Recruit"? I believe Eades was also on the staff when all of these guys came to North Dakota.
  17. Hopefully another nice addition! Tall, lean, and athletic. Judging by his free-throw percentage, he should fit right in...................... I kid, I kid. Welcome to the University Mr. Nash. Everybody wanted "bigs" for this team, now the staff has brought in 3 of them in the past month..........................
  18. Dan, I know the interlocking ND is a pet-peeve of yours, and that is fine...................... But do you really get confused when you see a New York Yankees and New York Mets hat at the same time? It is the initials of our state...................and personally, I think the re-design from a couple years ago looks pretty sharp. ND is where I am from, so I'm not embarrassed by the letters...................
  19. Old Dominion is leaving the CAA for Conference USA starting in 2013.........................
  20. I think the "kill the nickname" crowd could be better described as the "Save the University of North Dakota" crowd.............................. And this isn't World War II........................this is a cartoonish and abstract figment of somebody's imagination that we are all arguing over.
  21. If there was ever possibly a better sports nickname in the state of North Dakota that the Fighting Sioux, it was the Satans. Man that was cool.............
  22. I'm not following your correlation, but even if I could, as usual it is mostly wrong. Agriculture has been, currently is, and always will be the engine that drives North Dakota's economic bus. The development of the oil patch is like a turbo-charger that was recently added to that engine to boost performance. Someday, the bearings on that turbo will fail, and it will either be replaced with something else or simply removed, leaving the engine to all the work itself.
  23. Radio interview with Idaho A.D.: http://www.sportsradiokjr.com/pages/ianfurness_page.html?article=10117626 -His main goal is to preserve FBS football at Idaho -Questions the direction of the Big Sky -Thinks there will be 3 tiers of DI football in the future: BCS, FBS, FCS..........he wonders if the Big Sky will be in the 2nd Tier or 3rd Tier -Wants Idaho to be in a position to be in the 2nd Tier -Basically, he wants the Big Sky Conference, or at least a number of its top tier members to move to FBS
  24. You're right, but under the category of "rumored to go FCS", you could also include North Dakota, NDSU, Sac St, Portland St, UC Davis Cal Poly, Youngstown, Missouri St, Illinois St., Sam Houston, yadda yadda yadda...................
  25. Am I the only one who thinks that Anderson is by far the most valuable player on this team?
