  1. I'd say that is quite generous of UND to pay for half the cost of this project. There are probably 5-6 UND football games played there each season, and then 5-6 high school football games played each season. So they are paying 50% of the cost, using it 50% of the time, and then also generating somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-90% of the revenue for the Alerus as far as it being a football venue when you factor in Suite sales, facility rent, concessions, parking fees. etc............................ I honestly thought their contribution would be alot less than $2 million. However, they've proved to be a good partner for the city when you consider this and the money they put into Kraft Field which houses a dead-end money losing sport for the University. We know from putting this type of turf at Memorial Stadium that the cost of the turf itself is between $600,000 and $700,000. So UND is picking up a substantial cost of making the turf "portable", something that they could probably care less about................
  2. Pass. I'd stick with the Big Sky any day. If ANY Dakota school ever gets in the MVC, it'll be a conference that looks alot more like today's Summit rather than today's MVC.
  3. Alot of chips would have to fall the right way for that to happen. How many times have Montana and Montana St. met in the playoffs over the last decade? It befuddles me the way that NDSU and their fans do not understand the "dynamic" ticket pricing model. UND, along with a plethora of regional schools have taken advantage of it for years................................
  4. BEING IN THE MIDST OF A 6 GAME ROAD TRIP IS TOUGH. BUT NEXT SEASON WE BETTER START WINNING SOME OF THESE CLOSE ROAD GAMES WITH A MORE NORMAL SCHEDULE.

  22. Nothing has been announced yet regarding the tie breaker formula. My guess is it'll go something like this: Team with best conference record wins out-right If two teams tie with best record and they played each other whoever won the head-to-head wins If two teams tie with best record and have not played it'll go to record against common opponents If it is a push regarding common oppononents, whoever has the higher Gridiron Power Index will get the AQ Pure speculation, but the best I can come up with.....................
  23. You are not understanding. Prior to the filing of the petition, UND was NOT in violation of the terms of the agreement. They were not under sanctions, and were within good standing with the NCAA, the Big Sky conference and all other parties (including the Universities of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa; which most of us are intersted in associating with). They were in full compliance with the settlement. The logo was the interlocking ND, and the name was North Dakota. After the petitions were filed, the state of North Dakota is now presumably in breach of contract, since we are now required by state law to be referred to as the Fighting Sioux. The SBoHE itself is not in breach of contract. The legislature authorized the SBoHE to pursue legal action against the NCAA on behalf of the the State of North Dakota.
  24. They were following the settlement up until Carlson's Folly. Then they were in breach of the settlement. When Carlson's Folly was repealed, the State Board again was in compliance with the settlement. Now that Carlson's Folly is once again in place, the State Board is once again in breach of the settlement with the NCAA. To put it simply, the State Board has never voluntarily breached the contractual agreements put forth in the NCAA settlement. The state legislature has, however. It is misguided at best to say that the SBoHE did not have intentions of meeting the requirements of the settlement agreement.
  25. UND was not subject to sanctions over the last two months while using the interlocking ND and the vanilla North Dakota reference.................
