  1. As many as it takes to get the message across that the "Fighting Sioux" is slowly killing the University of North Dakota..........................
  2. If North Dakota ever has a chance to be a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, it will look nothing like the MVC that we know of today. The MVC is a border-line high-major basketball league. They get 2-4 bids to the NCAA tourney already. If ANY Dakota school ever joins the MVC, it will likely look alot more like today's Summit League rather than today's MVC.............................
  3. Agree........... I believe he also spent time at South Dakota St. early in their transtion. They've done pretty well.
  4. I believe that NDSU reserves 3,800 (20% of seats) for students, while North Dakota reserves 2,600 (21% of seats) for students. Pretty much a wash if I have my figures straight........................right?
  5. Personally, when you're already a member of the Big Sky, I wouldn't view potential membership in the MVFC as an "opportunity".............................
  6. Don't see the problem with that. Much less the pattern really...................... Hakstol: Longtime assistant Mussman: Longtime assistant Brewster: Longtime assistant Parsons: One-time assistant Dodson: No ties to North Dakota Hardee: No ties to North Dakota Idalski: No ties to North Dakota Jones: No ties to North Dakota Oakley: No ties to North Dakota
  7. Bad deal. My sympathies to the families........
  8. Apparently not for Weber St. As much as everybody is looking forward to building football rivalries in the Big Sky with Montana and Montana St., I personally am hopefully looking forward to challenging Weber as a basketball power in the league. We'll never rival your attendance numbers, but I'm optimistic that eventually North Dakota will be consistently fighting with Weber and Montana for the Big Sky Basketball championship each year........................................
  9. Good lord, I hate to post in this thread. I've been pretty consistent over the years about my desire to NOT schedule NDSU in football. IMO it doesn't greatly help either program in football like it does in every other common sport. But I grow tired of hearing how it would be financial loser for NDSU to play North Dakota every other year in football. I'll use round numbers to make it simple............... If NDSU bought an NEC, Patriot League, Pioneer Leage, or OVC team for it's home non-conference game over 4 years: With attendance of 18,000 (near capacity) at $20 per seat NDSU would gross $1,440,000 over 4 years Assuming a conservative payout cost of $125,000 to buy an opponent each year, total cost would be $500,000 Over 4 years, that is a net profit of $940,000 If NDSU and UND played home-and-home every other year over 4 years: With attendance of 19,000 (capacity) at $25 per seat (a very modest dynamic pricing model) NDSU would gross $950,000 over 4 years They would have no expense except the cost of a 70 mile bus trip Over 4 years, that is a net profit of $950,000 Additionaly, this doesn't account for the extra media coverage that a series would produce. At the very least, it would GUARANTEE at least one more televised game for both schools each year that it was played. It is really too bad that NDSU doesn't have competent administrators that understand the "dynamic pricing" model for tickets. They are about the only school in our loosely defined region that hasn't adopted the model. As I recall, Minnesota Gopher fans could not purchase tickets to see their hated rival Iowa Hawkeyes play in Minneapolis without also buying tickets to see the Gophers play NDSU......................
  10. I'd say that is quite generous of UND to pay for half the cost of this project. There are probably 5-6 UND football games played there each season, and then 5-6 high school football games played each season. So they are paying 50% of the cost, using it 50% of the time, and then also generating somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-90% of the revenue for the Alerus as far as it being a football venue when you factor in Suite sales, facility rent, concessions, parking fees. etc............................ I honestly thought their contribution would be alot less than $2 million. However, they've proved to be a good partner for the city when you consider this and the money they put into Kraft Field which houses a dead-end money losing sport for the University. We know from putting this type of turf at Memorial Stadium that the cost of the turf itself is between $600,000 and $700,000. So UND is picking up a substantial cost of making the turf "portable", something that they could probably care less about................
  11. Pass. I'd stick with the Big Sky any day. If ANY Dakota school ever gets in the MVC, it'll be a conference that looks alot more like today's Summit rather than today's MVC.
  12. Alot of chips would have to fall the right way for that to happen. How many times have Montana and Montana St. met in the playoffs over the last decade? It befuddles me the way that NDSU and their fans do not understand the "dynamic" ticket pricing model. UND, along with a plethora of regional schools have taken advantage of it for years................................
  13. BEING IN THE MIDST OF A 6 GAME ROAD TRIP IS TOUGH. BUT NEXT SEASON WE BETTER START WINNING SOME OF THESE CLOSE ROAD GAMES WITH A MORE NORMAL SCHEDULE.
  14. YEP. LED BY 8 WITH LESS THAN 10 TO PLAY. THIS IS GROWING TIRESOME.............
  15. WELL, THEY SURE PISSED THAT ONE AWAY.........
  16. UND OUT OF TIMEOUTS WITH 1 MIN LEFT
  17. THOUGHT YOU DID NOT LIKE BASKETBALL........
