Quality of membership alone would make the jump from the Summit into the Horizon a sound one.

Solitary confinement in Leed ND school system.
bincitysioux replied to rockbear99's topic in Community
I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's not like they are locking kids in there for hours on end. If my kid ended up in there and came home whining about it, I'd ask him "what did you do to end up in there?". -
USD will have no reservations about the Summit for so long as SDSU is a member of it. It is obvious who wears the pants in that family...................

How does that "put the ball in the NCAA's court"? I have to hear this..........................

Something that scares me is the fact that many of the same people that voted Al Carlson into office will also be voting on this measure.....................

So far, 81% of SiouxSports.com members intend to support the University and its athletic programs. That is great news. Sadly, I fear that most people that are members of the this site are much more informed on this crucial subject than are the vast majority of the potential voters that will turn out for the election..............................

I agree that the pre-game intro last season was totally lame. Along with the clips of players on the big screen screaming for the fans to make some noise. In the past though I thought the stuff on the Alerus video screens were pretty good. I really liked the 2010 intro with Corey Colehour and Rob Bollinger speaking about the traditions at North Dakota. Agree, though that they should contract or something to the people at the Ralph to produce this stuff for the Alerus. They do a first class job. But the in-game promotions are really no different than at REA. At hockey games you've always got students answering trivia questions and singing lyrics to Pat Benatar songs too........................

Is Kurt Zellers UND's worst alumni?!?!
bincitysioux replied to siouxfan512's topic in Non-collegiate sports
I think they should build the stadium. They'd be stupid not to. The Wilfs are offering up 1/3 of the money. That is not common in NFL stadium negotiations. But since I am not a Vikings fan, I'd also enjoy the chaos that would ensue if they relocated...................... Either way, I'm not affected all that much................ Disclaimer: I live in North Dakota. I have no dog in the fight since I'm not Minnesotan nor a Vikings fan. -

Actually, I'm just not a Vikings proponent.................... If the legislature is stupid enough to let them leave, especially after going through the exact same scenario with the Northstars, the Wild, and the Excel, then they deserve to have the Vikings bolt on their watch.............................. -

That makes him one of my favorites............................... -
I would hate to see NDSU join the Big Sky. As far as Idaho, I never considered the angle where they could be added and UND tossed as a result. I think the chances of that are remote, but that's a new concept to me that I don't care for obviously. Since we joined the Big Sky, I've really wanted to have Idaho drop down and rejoin. I figure it would have huge stabilizing effect on the league. It would give 14 members for football, and 12 for everything else. All of the schools that matter in the Big sky would be ecstatic to have them, mainly the Montana schools.

A fan? Ummm, no. DaveK hates North Dakota Football and Hockey, there is no way around it. It is as clear as the sky is blue. He obviously cannot stand UND and wishes to see every facet of the institution fail on a grand scale. Where his disdain for the University comes from is known only to him, as he refuses to enlighten the rest of us as to why he so clearly wants to see North Dakota football and hockey crumble into the ashes............................
-
Keep telling yourself that you are on the "moral high-road"........................ It is obvious that you have no regard for the University as a whole, or its athletic programs including hockey and football. You have made it very clear that you are no friend of any facet of UND...........athletically or academically. I just can't figure out why you hate North Dakota hockey and football as much as you obviously do...........................
-
A better description of yourself would be that you are anti-University of North Dakota.............................

AWESOME!!!!!!! So you'll be leaving here, right?.................

I suppose one could debate the definition of a "cartoon". Let me be clear: I am in no way equating North Dakota's current logo to "Sammy Sioux" or "Chief Wahoo". I think Bennet Brien's logo is a beautiful and tasteful work of art. I love it, and both my home and place of business is adorned with numerous examples of it. My characterization of it as a "cartoon" is meant to compare it to an ever-changing abstract idea................ It is a painting.................... A drawing.................... An interpretation........................ It is no different than the cartoonish drawings on the helmets of the New England Patriots football team........... It is no different than the drawings on the jerseys of the Chicago Bulls basketball teams.............. In the end, to me, it is just a piece of marketing.................
-
Wow. You know, even if UND officially retires the nickname, you could still to choose to continue to worship the abstract cartoon/moniker that you are so infatuated with. In fact, I'd guess you have so many North Dakota games recorded on DVD and VHS from the last 25 years that you could actually pop in hockey or football game each weekend during the winter and you can probably recreate entire seasons for the next decade or so................. you wouldn't even notice any change. So, do that, light some candles and create an alter to the abstract cartoon/moniker, re-live the past, and let the University's athletes that actually contribute and shed their blood, sweat, and tears to this storied program continue to thrive.............

Why am I not surprised that you are begging other people to spend their money for your enjoyment?

The New Sioux! Big Sky edition.
bincitysioux replied to UNDsportsFANATIC's topic in Men's Basketball
They talked a little UND basketball on WDAY radio tonight. Dom Izzo was very high on North Dakota, saying that he expects UND to be one of the top teams in the Big Sky next year, challenging for an NCAA bid. He was interviewing Tom Miller at the time. Miller basically said that if UND played all of their games at home they'd have a great chance.......................... -
Tom Miller from the GF Herald weighed in on the subject tonight on WDAY radio. He said that the SDSU deal was old news in the Grand Forks area. While touching on the Big Sky's potential issues with the name, he mentioned that Northern Arizona has raised questions about the controversy. That's the first time that I've heard that a specific Big Sky school has raised the issue. I also really couldn't give a hoot if we never played SDSU in anything, but if a school like SDSU that is right next door, of similar size and scope both athletically and academically to UND, and whom we have a 100+ year relationship with is not willing to compete against us going forward, then it will be pretty hard for me to be convinced that any Big Sky school 1000+ miles away will not do the same................................
-
O'Keefe is an outsider; a liberal PC administrator trying to cover his butt that doesn't understand the great history, honor, and, traditions surrounding the Fighting Sioux name. Oh, wait, nevermind....................................................
-
You two are hilarious. Tell me, why is it that the both of you continue to opine here, on a Pro-UND site when you both so obviously wish for UND Hockey, the rest of the athletic department, and the University as a whole to fail? I believe one, or perhaps even both of you said that you would accept the retirement of the abstract cartoon figure/moniker once the Spirit Lake lawsuit ran its course..........................
-
Idaho dropping to FCS and returning to the Big Sky would be great. It would balance things out for all sports, and stabilize the conference for the long term.

I think a 4th or 5th place finish is a realistic prediction for North Dakota this season, and I think they could finish as high as 3rd provided we get better QB and secondary play. Emphasis on secondary play moreso than QB play. Bradley was 4-3 as the starter last season. Two of those losses were to FBS teams (we were in a position to win one of those), and the other loss was to the GWC Co-champion.................... Regardless of who wins the job, whether it be Hanson or Bradley, I think that position is much improved from a year ago. If it is Hanson, great. He has great credentials. I have not seen him, but those who have here speak highly of him. As far as Bradley goes, he proved to be accurate and make good decisions. Now he has another year under his belt. Look how much better Goska was in the last half of 2011 compared to the last half of 2010 when he took over for Landry. We won in a decent league last year with pedestrian QB play and atrocious secondary play. Improve the pass defense, and this team could be poised to have a very nice season..........................
