  1. I know this isn't really the place for this, but regarding my experience/complaints about UNDsports.com streaming service, I've gone throught the help desk, and been told the trouble is on my end. The solution offered was to use Chrome instead of Internet Explorer. But that didn't help. Now the reason I'm confident that my problem is not on my end, is because I have 3 different internet providers serving my home. It does not matter which one I use, UND's webstreams constantly buffer and pixelate. Then I can switch to any game on Big Sky TV and it works seamlessly. Very few times have I had trouble with Big Sky TV. But it's now gotten to the point where I haven't tried to watch UND Sports Extra for months now, because it takes me 50 minutes to get through the 25 minute show. I fear this is what I'd have to look forward to next season if I do stay home and want to watch a hockey game.
  2. This pretty much echoes my thoughts on this whole subject. Personally, the TV deal doesn't affect me all that much as I attend most of the home games. It's the loss of exposure both nationally, and apparently regionally as well that rubs me the wrong way. Ughh........ Sorry, but that truly is awful. I would like thank you though, Jayson, for taking the time to answer all these questions. I've been one of the ones that has been pretty vocal about my disgust with this whole situation, so I'd guess I'm one who's pretty high on your irritant list. But I appreciate you going out of your way clarify things for us. Even though I haven't liked much of what you've had to say!
  3. According to the Herald, Schuler will still be out for both games this weekend.
  4. I interpretted it as just one season left.
  5. Does Darrell live close to any football players?
  6. One more question for Jayson: Does CBS have the rights to air non-conference games, or only games between NCHC foes?
  7. For a NCHC doubleheader to work, game 1 will have to be at either Miami or WMU, and game 2 will have to be at either Denver or CC. If UND is playing at home on a doubleheader night, I believe it would be the first time since the new REA opened that a home game would not be televised.
  8. Looks like its on DirecTV too.
  9. Well this just keeps getting better and better..............................
  10. I should say so. If not, even more evidence of Douple's ineptitue.
  11. You know it could be that Dodson meant he applied to the Summit for baseball affiliation a short time after UND accepted the Big Sky invitation. That would make sense. In October of 2010, UND was about to accept membership in the Summit, which would have solved baseball's conference problem. UND cancelled the visit at the last minute, and joined the Big Sky, leaving baseball in limbo. Dodson could have applied for affiliate membership with the SL, the most logical option, shortly thereafter. We all know about the flame war that took place in the media between Kelley, Faison, and Douple after UND dumped the Summit. Of course the Summit probably wasn't going to respond to Dodson and UND at that point. When Douple made his collusion allegations against UND a year later, Faison said in his rebuttal that he hadn't spoken with Douple in months.
  12. The best piece of marketing that can be done for both football and basketball would be Grand Forks Herald articles about how those teams are in 1st place and near the top of the polls. I've come to the conclusion that the opponents don't matter so much. Grand Forks fans want to see a good old fashioned ass-whooping when they come to the arena. Griz fans outnumbered UND students in the Alerus last fall for crying out loud.
  13. You're preaching to the choir, bud. But the fact remains, that once the puck drops, football attendance dwindles, particularly in the student section.
  14. I don't know, but I'd assume CBSSN would bring their own HD equipment to every venue, like Fox North does. If not, apparently Midco is going to be doing HD from the Ralph next season. I don't know if that means the equipment will always be at REA for other networks to use. I would assume not though.
  15. This could also just lead to BCS schools having to pay alot more for MWC, MAC, Sun Belt, etc. schools. In turn, those non-BCS schools are going to have more money to pay FCS schools.
  16. I feel the same way. I can only assume that the advertising income from the in-house model wasn't as brisk as they thought it would be. Apparently they feel that the potential revenue from the new deals is enough to warrant denying access to tens of thousands of fans.
  17. I think alot of us wonder the same thing. Maybe just because there was a healthy and experienced senior, junior, and sophomore ahead of him on the depth chart. Nobody really knows how talented Sparks may or may not be because he only played once against non DI team. He just looks to have a totally different build and skill set than any other back on the roster right now, so fans are intrigued by his potential.
  18. The average attendance next year should get a bump simply due to the fact that there are 4 home games before the start of the hockey season. The first 3 games could all touch 10,000. Anyone know when homecoming is? The later the better as far as I am concerned. They should have it for either Sac St. or UNC. UNC is probably too late in the year though. That game will be poorly attended.
  19. It's a great concept, but would likely never get off the ground. Alot of us, myself included, proclaimed scheduling would be a piece of cake for UND during the transition because of our hockey ties, and our schedules for other sports would be be full of teams like Maine, Denver, New Hampshire, etc. Well that didn't quite pan out.
  20. I get what you are saying. We have been spoiled in recent years. But at the same time, this is not the early 90's when MSC was in play 20 years ago. The avenues for distribution are so much greater now. I remember when the only time you could see Sioux football or basketball on TV was when they were playing the Bison. The point is, I don't think it is acceptable to go backwards 5 years from where we are now just because that is still better than what it was 15 years ago.
  21. Agree. They can buy low end FBS teams for the same or less that they can buy top end FCS teams for. One could probably thank App St., NDSU, and USD for this legislation. Good for them for influencing Big 10 policy.
  22. Miller had a ho-hum season as far as I'm concerned in 2012. He's the type of back that is going to have alot of 2 yard carries, but you never know when he is going to bust one for 30 yards or more. He was averaging nearly 6 yds a carry against Eastern, but that game got out of hand in a hurry so there wasn't alot of handoffs going on after the 1st quarter. He had excellent games against Sac St. and SUU. In 2011, he completely ripped apart Fresno St. and Southern Utah, and did very well against FBS Idaho as a freshman. I just expect he'll have a better year in 2013. I would like to see Sparks get an opportunity this year though. That kid is built like brick shithouse.
  23. I was just using that as an example of the coverage and viewership that CBS can provide. I think all schools should be allowed to market their product accordingly. UND is getting money from Midco. Denver is getting money from Root. UMD and St Cloud could probably get money from Charter. WMU and Miami could probably get money from Fox. CC could probably get money from Altitude. Like i just said, it is obvious the reasons for this are financial. That's fine. Just don't agree with the new coverage options.
  24. Also, UND is getting $250K per year from Midco. In addition, UND Insider subscriptions will probably go way up. Obviously, if CBS is paying anything, it is much better financially for UND.
  25. I agree. But also have to remember that the current UND administration didn't hire Idalski, Jones, or Mussman. Idalski and Jones were Buning guys, and Mussman was hired as an in-house guy by Steve Brekke. Hardee is the only coach that Faison has hired that I think we can grade to this point. And I'd say he's done well and is paid well. Not sure I'd say Jones or Mussman have earned significant raises to this point. I really wonder Brewster's salary is. He is another guy promoted from within, and was a logical choice. But not sure he is worth Roebuck's $110,000 salary. At the same time, I think he is worth more than the $113,000 NDSU is apparently paying Dehoff. That to me is a major red flag that Dehoff was paid more than Roebuck. But again, I believe Roebuck recieved a hefty raise shortly after Faison was hired.
