Interesting is an understatement. Obviously, I'm thinking there is going to be alot of movement forthcoming. I think the Catholic 7 is going to take multiple A10 teams and likely Creighton. IF the MVC only loses Creighton, they could look at Oral Roberts, UIC, maybe even Valparaiso and come out relatively unscathed. But then the A-10 is going to look at more Horizon teams. It could be possible that what's left of the Summit could merge with what is left of the Horizon, and if that includes the former NCC schools and schools like UWGB and UW-Milwaukee, that would actually be a huge upgrade for the Dakota Big 3, IMO. And it would leave the MVFC in tact. More importantly, it would leave the Big Sky as it is!

It'll be interesting to see what what the rest of MVC privates do when/if Creighton joins the Catholic 7. I really don't see Evansville leaving the Valley for the Horizon, but you never know. If the MVC needs to backfill, I think there about a half dozen schools they'd take before they looked at any Summit schools. Was there ever any rumors about UMKC wanting out of the Summit? This kind of shocked me when it went down. There almost has to be something going on behind the scenes at the Summit league for UMKC to feel that the WAC of all places is a better fit for them. I wonder if Oakland and/or another eastern summit school has put the league on notice that they are leaving? Maybe the Horizon is being proactive, because they know that they have about 4 schools that both the A10 and the MVC would take a hard look at if they need members.

It got kind of sloppy the last 10 minutes of the half, but I'm actually quite pleased overall with where we are at halftime.

Well, that is unfortunate.

If NDSU gets into The Valley, then the Valley is planning on losing a helluva lot more than Creighton............... There is going to be alot of change because of the Big East split. The Catholic 7 are going to pull from the A-10 and MVC. That is almost a fact. The A-10 and MVC are going to replenish themselves pretty much every donor conference east of the Rockies and will probably affect the Horizon, the MAAC, the OVC, the Summit, the NEC, the CAA, and even more.

NAU beat Sac tonight, leaving North Dakota all alone in 5th place heading into the weekend. We're a game up on both Sac and NAU.............

It was a pretty darn good league. I believe UND, USD, and SDSU all had a long history of making pretty deep runs in the DII tournament over a pretty lengthy period of time. Maybe a couple others, I'm not sure, but those 3 all have a pretty strong basketball pedigree...................

The announcement is at 5:30 tonight on ESPNU...................

The struggles of the women's team this season is a bit surprising to me. I didn't expect them to be world beaters, but I figured they'd easily be a top 5 Big Sky team. Currently they are sitting tied for 8th place, and have lost 6 of their last 8 games. They have 5 of their last 8 games at home so that helps, but four of those are also against the top 4 teams in the conference. To be fair, unlike on the men's side, the Big Sky is probably considered a legit mid-major women's basketball conference. Currently the conference is #15 in RPI. That is a huge step up from the GWC which was always 31 or 32, but still I figured our ladies would at least be a .500 team this year. Of course having a healthy Wall all season would have helped, but injuries happen to every team.
