DING DING....looks like we found todays winner of the "stupid post of the day" award. Playing Montana Tech is pretty embarrassing. But, we aren't bragging about playing Wisky-Lac either so don't come in here and think your going to start an argument about it. NDSU and UND both had/have a bottom feeder on their first year schedule. End of story.

By far the winner of the "stupid post of the day" award. Wow.
-
Once again: For the 100th time, this isn't a race. Why do NDSU fans continue to harp on the fact they started first, therefore UND will never catch up? I don't see a finish line anywhere in site.

Who cares how it works out. There is a 99.9999% chance that we lose, we know that. They are going to be very good this year and will be next year too. The administration decided to start playing guarantee games in the 2nd year and it can only help the program when that 350-large comes rolling in. NDSU didn't start playing D1-A's until their 3rd year so getting that extra payday should really help UND along in their funding of the move. As long as their are 10 other games on the schedule that are winnable or within reach then I have no problem playing Texas Tech next year. The players will not let it demoralize them because they know they will be huge underdogs and there will be 10 games left after its over. Its going to be blast and they will remember it for the rest of their lives, no matter what the score.

I have heard in the 300k-350k range. I don't know if they also included plane tickets or not. Still a pretty darn good payday so soon! I do believe there is 1 exemption a year or something like that for teams to play a non-qualifier...Hammersmith? This is a great job of scheduling by Faison and the crew over at Hyslop. Who cares if they blow teams out, we need to play the big boys and get paid. Oh, and play if front of possible recruits, that never hurts! We will be seeing more of this in the future.

Correct, he decided against leaving Alaska. He would have been a good player but his heart wasn't in it. No coach wants a kid who is not engaged so they move on.m

That includes punters and kickers.

Why do you insist of arguing about this topic? Go away for awhile, give us a break from your green and gold point of view. We got it, we know what you think of our new conference. We as UND fans had to sit and listen to your hype machine spin out of control for 4 years. So why don

So a person from NDSU is making fun of UND for hyping up their move to Division 1. Wow.
-
So UND is done hunting, right? There is no way we will ever find a 5x5, we're stuck with this 4x4 forever. That is what I don't understand about NDSU fans. NDSU found a conference within 5 years but there is no way in hell that UND is going to find one, they're screwed. Like its a race to NDSU or something. I am fairly confident these two schools are going to be around for a long long time to come.
-
Congratulations. 5-10 years from now who will know the difference between who started first? We will all be the same level.
-
I cannot wait! This is a historic time in the programs history and I can't wait to see it through. Hopefully the new AD has all the Marketing in line for a big summer push!

Good to see the Rocky Hager mentality of recruiting is still living on at NDSU: "If we didn't get him, we didn't want him"
-
1. Get new Associate AD
-
Or how the #1 player in the draft at his position didn't even get signed as a UDFA and only got a 'tryout'? Steve Hallstrom is on suicide watch right now. All we heard is how he was lock to get drafted, maybe even in the 4-5 round. Hmmm. Especially weird when a player from UND at the same position got the same 'tryout'.

Here is a very telling quote from Jerry York: "I was talking with Paul Kelly right after the game. He's connected with the NHL Players Association and he said the game is changing so dramatically the last couple of years. The college game I think is more conducive now to creative players, to quick players, and we ought to be aware of the that. But you still need to balance your team with Nick Petrecki, Mike Brennan type guys. I think the smaller, quicker player, it's a better game for him to play now."
-
That statement is more of what I was getting at. I got a little sidetracked talking about conferences, etc. The speed players are the biggest difference that I have seen.
-
I give up. The Big Ten IS as good as the SEC in football, just like the WCHA teams are as good as HE and CCHA in hockey. There is no difference between the two whatsoever. BC just got really really lucky last night. LSU and Florida got really really lucky when they annihalated OSU in back to back years.
-
That game against Florida was a complete mirage. It was Lloyd Carr
-
UND doesn't need new coaches, they need to change their recruiting. Its as simple as that.
-
That is exactly my point. For the past few years, BC has been smoking UND with speed. Its not even close. But just like the Big Ten, the WCHA hangs its hat on past championships. Well those days are just that, in the past. They need to get some speed guys or this is going to keep happening. Ohio State built there team to compete in the Big Ten just like UND does for the WCHA but when you get to the National Tournament you are three steps slow.
-
First off, I am not going to rip the hockey team or the coaching staff. This is strictly a "non-hockey" guy take on what is going on with the UND Hockey and the WCHA. I know nothing about hockey. Hockey: The WCHA teams beat each other up all year and kept telling everyone how good they were. They should get 7 teams in the tournament, etc. Then when they get to the Frozen Four and have to play teams from the CCHA and Hockey East, they get blown off the ice. Honestly, everyone has to admit they looked extremely slow out there compared to BC. It was Men vs. Slow Men. Football: The Big Ten beats each other up all season and Ohio State eventually comes out on top and they start claiming how good they are and the Big Ten is a tough conference week in and week out. So what happens when they get to the NC game the last two years vs. SEC teams: They get completely blown off the field by Florida and LSU. Too slow, too big at certain positions and basically get embarrassed by the faster, quicker teams from the SEC. While I was watching the game tonight, this comparison just kept popping into my head. I may be completely wrong but I don't think so. So what are those Big Ten teams doing to change their fates? They are recruiting speed, speed and more speed. They realized they are not going to be able to keep up. THis is exactly what the WCHA needs to realize, they need those faster players again. Where are the Hoogsteens, Panzers, Blakes? This team had nobody even close to the speed those players had.

Bollinger "missed his chance"? By that logic, Buning should have "missed his chance" by a huge margin the first time this circus came through. As I recall, Buning was a late addition, correct? The whole point is that Phil and Chuck are going to somehow screw this thing up again but UND will be the ones holding the bag as they drift off into retirement. I really hope Kelley has the final say on who it's going to be, he's got to work with him. Side note: Seeing Phil on TV at the Obama/Hillary fest really showed me that Politics is where he fits in. He is an 'expert' on Politics according to KVLY but he can't figure out how to form a decent committee to pick an AD.....not once, but TWICE. 17 people on a committee?

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, nobody from North Dakota or with any ties to UND is capable of leading UND into the D1 transition and beyond. That's some fundamentally sound thinking.
