Thanks for the history lesson. I was talking about Football and Womens Basketball, the only two sports that anyone really gave a sh*t about and were both on top at one time. You were happy with what those two programs accomplished in the past 10 years? Good luck in D-1AA if you are happy with that. Is that what the mighty Bison football team has fallen too? "Being very competitive in a tough conference, being Top 2-3 in the NCC (now they are bragging about how tough the NCC was), and citing scholarship reductions as to why they couldn't win a NC anymore". I believe the rest of the teams that were winning--UNC & NWMS, etc. had 36 too. Your fans were getting used to not winning it all and not making the playoffs and finishing 2-3rd in the conference. That is why there was a need to change.

Really? Is that why they went D1-AA or is that your conclusion you have come up with? If that is why, it would've been more appropriate in 1990, not now. There program has steadily gotten more and more mediocre since the start of the 1990's. That excuse is not viable anymore, considering how your Womens BBall and Football teams both became pedestrian compared to what they once were. Basically, you left because those teams needed a shot in the arm because at D2 they had completely lost their dominance (especially to a team 75 miles to the north).

Why would NDSU get into the Big Sky alone? You guys are buying into Taylors B.S. hook, line, and sinker. Does anyone ever ask a question down there? Bunch of sockpuppets. I bet those schools like Northern Arizona are just licking there chops to fly into Fargo every year! Do you realize how unfeasible that is and that is exactly why you didn't get in this year.

How does this Toews kid matchup with Crosby as far as a prospect, talent, etc? Being drafted overall number 1 in their draft is a pretty big deal I assume. Just interested in comparisons since they are both from Canada and relatively close in age.

Now that this news has come out, it looks like the search continues for NDSU and we stay DII for a few more years. With that being said: --Let's be mature about this now and discuss what is coming up for both schools without bashing or making fun of NDSU cause they didn't get in. Some of the fans on their board have taught us a lesson on how NOT to act when stuff happens to the other school. I am a firm believer in that "Everything Happens for a Reason". Who knows, in two years we may be going with NDSU to some conference and everything will work out fine. Maybe not. Lets just be Classy about this and see what happens!

Iowa, You are turning this D1 thing into the Amazing Race or something. You act like how far along you are is gonna be so huge when a conference decides who to pick. Who cares about one or two years when you look at the entire University in question as a whole. Which is more important: SDSU's 3 years left on probation and crap facilities or UND's Alerus Center, REA, and Betty being available in 5 years and being around for 25-50 years? You make it sound like everything is such a race, NDSU and SDSU are now beating you by 2 years instead of 1. WHOOOOAAAAHHH. Obviously, we don't give a sh*t. Our facilities and strong teams and support are gonna be here for a long time and the BSC knows that. I hope they don't choose schools by who becomes eligible first.

In all this, we are overlooking the leaping penalty and the effect it had on Lennon's game plan/UND's momentum in the game. If it isn't called, UND has the ball somewhere around the 20-25 yard line and has the momentum from stopping them, which is huge when you are talking about Pitt State. If the offense goes down and does something, either field goal or TD, or perhaps Punts them deep, UND has got the game going the way they want and Lennon has the tight, field position game he was looking for. Instead, they go down 24-13, two possession game, and with this offense Lennon's game plan is not taking place. Add to the fact that Pitt State has the offense to run 5-7 minutes off the clock if they get hot, and things went south in a hurry. I think we all can agree that the game was never the gonna be ours after that Leaping Penalty.

It may have something to do with the fact it is based in Sioux Falls and he coached there back in the day. Plus, I believe his wife is from there.

Their Mens and Womens basketball teams were always really good. I think they have a nice future in basketball for sure. Their Mens teams were fun to watch!

So SDSU and UND are at the same level? Both good. That is insulting. It is exactly why I asked, you NDSU fans think you guys are already a great D1-AA team. You think you are better than UND don't you? C'mon just come out and say it. We all caught on to your subtle jab there with the "good" thing. So what kind of team is NDSU? Great? Unbelievable?

Not playing 1-AA teams was really stupid wasn't it? I believe it was all you Bison fans that told us that playing them would not hurt us getting into the playoffs and we are just afraid to play them. The only reason we got in was cause of the points we got for playing D2 teams that had records that got us the points we needed. Back to my age old argument---this year NDSU and SDSU were D1-AA caliber teams? No, you weren't. You were just D2 last year and now all the sudden 9 months later you are a legit D1-AA team that is better than a lowly D2 team. And it means more to play a "D1-AA" team than to play a D2 team? We beat you last year and we would've been just as good as you this year. Only difference is our Athletic Director didn't tell us we are now D1-AA.

That is a great point. Real witty. All we can do is go back to 2003 and see how UND did against those teams. Southern sucks. Don't ever bring them up in a conversation again. SDSU is average at football, please quit comparing them to UND in football, also. You should compare them to NDSU--how do they stack up against you guys? Did you guys play this year?

Can someone refresh my rapidly aging memory about the game situation at the time we decided to punt---quarter, score, etc. I cannot remember it, honestly.

WTF are you talking about? How did what our guy did affect them at all? We got F*cked, not them. That completely turned the game around. If we get the ball back, we are down 8 with momentum. Instead, they get it back, run time off the clock, and luckily we stop them again, only to allow them to MAKE the field goal this time and make it a 2 possession game. That was a bush league call that should not have been made in a National Semi-final game. Hermes went straight up and landed off the back of the pads of one of his own players, roughly 1-2 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Bullsh*t. It was over after that, UND did nothing.
