  1. I would love to know what your love affair with 'outsiders' is? We tried that already and it was a horrible disaster. For that matter, off the top of my head we have hired the following 'outsiders' to prominent positions: Brian Jones Charles Kupchella Robert Kelley Tom Buning Jones has done nothing but we have to give him a chance to get his players. Kupchella was at best decent from everything I have seen, not a big athletics guy. Buning was a complete failure. Somebody please explain to me why hiring a 'insider' is a bad thing?
  2. I never looked at it in those terms, good point.
  3. 1. The AD before Roger had us in the black also, so its pretty easy to figure out that Roger just wasn't very good at saying no. 2. Anyone who has any familiarity with the workings of the Athletic Department knows that Buning did a less than adequate job at organizing the department and had minimal respect from the majority of the coaches. Just because you and your buddies thought he did a great job doesn't mean he did. I am in favor of hiring RB but we will see what happens, I don't have a vote and never will!
  4. Kupchella and Harmeson hand picked their 'outsider' golden boy last time around and we saw how that turned out. Arguably the worst hire in UND history. They went strictly off of resume and an interview. Luckily those two don't have much say in it this time around. If they would have just hired Bollinger like the majority wanted, we wouldn't be in this situation. But, unlike a lot of things in life, UND gets a chance to right a wrong so we will see if they do it.
  5. Cause we don't count. Simple.
  6. I believe SiouxMeNow's reply was a tongue in cheek jab at our predecessors from the south. We are not going to act like we are better than D2 teams the next year after we leave, like some teams have done in the past....or team has done in the past.
  7. They did have nine games until teams started backing out. I highly doubt any teams will back out after this year because we are a counter then. Next year is looking good, that big money game will probably fall through because we don
  8. Valpo has zero name recognition. Homer and Bryce Drew are not a part of this team. The only thing Valpo is known for is a off-balance 40 foot three pointer that may be one of the best plays in the history of March Madness. Their football team is extremely pathetic. What would happen is we would schedule them as a "FCS Opponent", they would show up and lose by 60 and people would start to wonder what this transition is all about. Better off not playing them. I know for a fact that we could have scheduled one of those Pioneer Conference teams if we wanted to. Who knows, we may have one on the schedule or on the line but we haven't heard anything.
  9. I don't think people realize how hard 'Year One' is to put together a schedule. It is 100% impossible to put together a solid FCS schedule in the first year of the transition. Just the way it is setup. 1. UND is a non-counter. Meaning, by playing them that game does not count towards the other teams playoff criteria. That is a huge red flag for all teams that will even go .500 and have a glimmer of hope to make the playoffs. 2. Most of the .500 or better teams that did have openings told us No because they didn
  10. Its going fine, D1 starts next fall. What about it isn't going good enough for you?
  11. I have a feeling the home schedule is going to be void of any big names. All of the FCS teams that have openings and any chance of going .500 or better are saying No to us. Just the reality of the process. Obviously we hope there are no NAIA teams on the schedule but the reality is there may need to be one. We have seen it played out by NDSU and SDSU already. There is nothing we can do but support the team and know that the schedules in the 4 years after this one are going to be remarkably better. That is a guarantee.
  12. He said that "every player they had highly ranked they got, and........just kidding. The parts I remember are: 1. Told of how there was some bad-mouthing of UND on the recruiting trail cause of the situation they are now in. 2. THey would have like to get some of the kids they offered, etc. and would have like to keep the ones that decomitted and individually name the schools those kids went to. There was alot of coach speak in there also. He didn't brag or say it was the best they have ever had but was happy with it and is expecting to sign a couple more coming up shortly.
  13. Don't even start with comparison talk, its only going to ruin this thread. As we have all learned over the past 10-15 years, they got every player they wanted and had a superb class. Just leave it at that. I really like UND's class on paper, obviously it would have been nice to keep the guys that de-committed but there is nothing you can do about it. I think Coach Mussman did a great job holding it together and adding a couple extras also.
  14. I don't question his loyalty to UND or to Hockey, just to the rest of the Athletic Department. There are more sports than hockey and now that they are all D1, they better start to figure out how to get the big ones going in the right direction.
  15. I may have taken it wrong, if so I apologize. Just doesn't seem very sincere to me but who knows.
  16. Once again, what was the point of that post? Grow up. I don
  17. When you arrive in Carbondale and find the recruiting class in shambles, you throw integrity out the window. However, If the kid wanted to play for Dale then it is how it is I guess. I think it was a bit of both, which is very disappointing, on both ends.
  18. http://www.gobison.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SP...mp;ATCLID=73982 or http://www.gobison.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SP...mp;ATCLID=75644 These would be comparisons. TAMUK is the worst team on the schedule as of now.
  19. You really came in spewing venom about every topic possible today - Its Friday, lighten up Francis. We all know: NDSU is better than UND and is now eligible for the playoffs so they will win the National Championship this year an a few more after that. We got it. Just make sure you let Appy St. know so they are prepared.
  20. Why did you post this? I don't recall anybody on here stating they were a really good football team. They used to be but obviously fell on hard times. I know you don't want us to bring up two teams that NDSU played their first year (TAMKU is better than both).
  21. That is really interesting he would do that. If any Bison posters have any info on how it went down or why, I would love to know.
  22. Not any time soon. They needed to get it all figured out in a Master Plan so they didn't make a mistake at the beginning. The indoor practice facility is a go for sure and that will be a major recruiting tool when finished, sometime in the next two years.
  23. There are probably 15 threads on here that were devoted to arguing about whether we should play or not, or who

    BISON

Before Bison fans come in and turn this into a 10 page bash thread, this thread should be removed immediately. Everyone knows we are not going to play for a few years at the very least and both sides are just fine with it. End of story. Quit trolling.
