I'd be surprised if Brett Larson doesn't get a call. Funny how Wisconsin thought they hit an absolute home run (grand slam!) with the last coaching change getting all 3 guys they wanted and look where it got them!

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I heard from very reliable sources this weekend that there are locker room issues and other circumstances leading to this decision which is all together ironic in the fact that he was brought in due to the decision to let Morrow walk because he (and his father) could be a distraction and not UND culture. -

100% agree. I've been saying for quite sometime that he lacks vision which obviously leads to him being a poor passer. Many times when he does decide to pass, he is way late on his decision which often times leads to a turnover. It also can hinder the PP as once the puck gets to him there is very little chance the puck is moving anyway other than towards the net (obviously a shot) or back to Jandric at the point. And yes I know our PP% is close to clicking at a record rate but if anyone is going to tell me our PP is better than St Cloud's just based on the eye test, hockey is not your thing. -

Totally agree. I think UNO is average at best. The whole league is down other than Denver. Easily the least amount of talent I have seen in this league since it's creation! -

I think you must be as Gersich was playing on the 4th line with Olson and Simonson and the third line was Janatuinen-Chyzyk-Sanderson if memory serves correct. Championship game was a little different as Johnson was hurt and St. Clair slotted in. -

I think the reason why they were the "closest to a scoring third line" is because they were our second line after the CBS line. -
Unfortunately yes it would be. Two years in a row we missed 17-18 and 18-19 seasons when we should have been crushing recruiting coming off a natty.
-
This is where I believe Berry made a very hypocritical decision by telling Morrow (yes I know there were other issues as well but what started it all was wanting him to play a year in the USHL) yet brining in a player who clearly needed another year if not two in the USHL. There's no question we lost the better of the two players. Sorry beating a dead horse with this one!

Not sure how he has developed the past few years (and he's been injured a ton) but at EGF he was basically the exact opposite of his brother. Trey is much more of the offensive style d man vs, Gage who is/was your typical stay at home d man.
-
I guess just based on history and the fact he has been our only goalie commit for a while and we keep hitting the portal. Maybe I'm wrong and they bring him in but I also think we hit the portal again as well. I can't imagine we roll with Hellsten, Hedquist and Johnson next year.
-
I believe that looks accurate but of those I think I would be surprised to see Singleton and Ausmus make it to campus and probably Hedquist as well.
-
Yes I have heard the reasoning behind it but how about you take a chance on a talented kid that you recruited from a young age that once you get him into this "culture" that he can become a team guy! Isn't that coaching?
-
His name hasn't been brought up much if at all but I feel 27 may be one of the biggest disappointments this year. Yes I know he is more of a 200 foot pk type center but there was a good 6 week stretch last year where he may have been our best forward on both sides of the puck and hasn't shown any of that offensive upside this year.
-
Yes we can say Halliday and Morrow but not to beat a dead horse but again Rizzo de-commit caught the coaches by surprise. They thought he would be here last year.
-
I think this is the biggest whiff in recruiting so far. Bringing in a player who clearly wasn't ready (and still physically isn't in year 2) for college hockey instead of Morrow who was told he needed a year in the USHL. Yes I know there were other rumors/circumstances that lead to his de-commit but it all started with Berry telling him he needed to play USHL when clearly the player brought in needed another.
-
He reminds me of another extremely overly hyped player that plays the exact same way with the first name Quinn. I think they are related!

That's an interesting question because the answer is everyone's next savior for the program Karl. It is quite interesting that the forward combos have been juggled constantly yet our D play has been horrendous and not much change at all there or at least with the top pair. -
Like everyone I agree what he did was reprehensible but is the kid not allowed to earn a living for the rest of his life? Like SCPA said, from all indications he hasn't had any character issues since so should the kid not be allowed to do anything the rest of his life! His is still only 20 years old with the better part of his life yet to live. Give the kid a chance and again like others have said with a very short leash! I get professional hockey in the NHL is different than a normal 9 to 5 job but would there be any issue if the kid was hired by XYZ Company?
-
Switch James and Senden and I would like it.
-
Did he de-commit from UMASS? I see quite a few sites that have him as a UMASS commit?
-
Also, it seems to appear Tyler Dunbar is no longer a commit?
-
I know we keep bringing this up but it wasn't the coaches delaying him. He made the decision to move on and it caught the coaches by surprise. Put it this way, I was at the UND hockey sale this summer and there was a pair of skates for sale with Rizzo on them. He was fully expected to be here last year and Schlossman has even stated this.

And not to mention a hell of a bounce back game for him last night! He was absolutely atrocious on friday and came back and played a confident game last night. He was one of our best players and one of few who seemed confident with the puck and actually had some legs. -
UND @ The John vs. Goofs - THE RIVALRY Friday Gameday

It looked quite obvious to me that the refs decided after UND's PP early in the third that UND was getting the next penalty unless a Gopher committed murder! McLaughlin with a head of steam and open ice in the neutral zone gets absolutely chopped down and no call. Brutal! All that being said, we didn't lose because of the refs. I don't have a good feeling about tonight. We looked completely gassed in the third.
