  1. [ Anyways, seriously, during the FF, I couldn't tell who was hitting harder, Greene or Smaby! It seemed like every time they were on the ice, the opponents were keeping their heads on a swivel. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  2. I was just joking on the last post. I was waiting for a response.
  3. I think a lot of schools are waiting to see both Ammerman and Hardwick play juniors before they go after them hard. I would be more interested in Olimb over Hardwick. I love hometown kids, but the next Defensemen that commit to UND will be a BIG physical guy. In 2 years they will have Lee, Chorney, Radke, Marto, Bine (hopefully) (smaby will probably be gone) and Jones. I hope they get Dowzak or that Finley.
  4. Congrats to Marto. Glad to have him aboard. I would have hated to see him wear either maroon colors. Glad the Central kids know where to go.
  5. You guys need a special board for hunting.
  6. Having Greene back is critical for next year. He brings more to the Sioux then any of their leading scorers did last year or next year. He is THE leader, like Mark Messier was in Edmonton. He is intimidateing. He takes lots of penalities and some are dives, some are called because he is Matt Greene and some are because he is to strong and some are undiscliplined (the cross checks in the back). Defense is the hardest position to play and they will always get the most penalties. He is the Ray Lewis of college hockey. He is so much like Commie and now he is developing puck skills and confidence in carrying the puck. Out of all the underclassmen, if Greene left, he would be the hardest shoes to fill. He has to come back because he hasn't left his legacy at UND yet. (meaning, he must work someone over before he leaves here)
  7. If they dont know on a message board, who would know? We know that about Sioux Falls, thats why we live in North dakota.
  8. I think Mannino is a big time goalie and will be one of the best in the country. Fisher on the other hand is like Briggs. He is an average goalie that benefits from being on a good team. or in Denvers case a great team with GREAT defensemen. Also, The Sioux goalie situation isn't looking to bad for next year. The competition will make both of them better because they are such great competitors.
  9. This should stop all rumors before they start. Hartzell to be Named New Head Coach at Sioux Falls Look for Kevin Hartzell to be named this week as the new head coach of the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL). Hartzell, a former Gopher forward from White Bear Lake, played in the USHL with the now defunct St. Paul Vulcans before starting his college career in 1978. In 1983, a year after being graduated from the U, he was named head coach of the Vulcans. Hartzell coached the Vulcans to five winning seasons in his six years there. This from USHR
  10. This is dumb. I am happy to have watch Zack for 2 years. I am happy to have Zajak on our team. My favorite Sioux memories were watching Greg Jognson, Dixon Ward and Russ Rominuk (sp?). they didn't win anything, but they were awesome to watch. It was probably way more wide open and freestyle then today. like the Edmonton oilers in the 80's. I guess for me watching winning teams is a bonus. I just love hockey and watching all these great players play for the Sioux.
  11. Lets remember that Zach was the first one to lead team USA to the Under 18 gold medal and the the under 20 medal.
  12. I seen the Article. Good article with some great pictures. I miss Zack. He was so fun to watch. I keep thinking to myself how lucky we were to get to watch Greg Jognson for 4 years. His team never won anything, but it didn't matter. Watching guys like him and Zack are what it is alll about for me. We have had a LOT of great players, but those 2 are real special players as well as people.
  13. Opposing coaches always tell their players that you dont want to be on their highlight tape. I hope next year, Spirko's goal is in the opening highlite tape when they announce the players. Partially because its a great goal and secondly he lit up a gopher. Remind me of Bo vs. Ballard.
  14. Speaking of Gretzky, he never played college. Does he have any eligability left? Someone said he liked the Ralph so much he may make a comeback. He regrets not playing college and he wants to be a SIOUX.
  15. Brady had a nice one in Duluth, Stafford fed him ona 2 on 1 he cut in walked around the goalie and made it look so easy. I love Drew Stafford onetimers. He had one in Duluth on a 4 on 3 pp. He had one durring the World Juniors. But there was one at the Ralph, I cant remember who they were playing I think Denver. It was awesome. I also remember Zajac having a great one timer goal late in the year at the Ralph.
  16. Thanks for the update on GVSU. It our best rival now, too bad we didn't play during the regular season.
  17. Hey bigmrg74, I like your posts and was wondering how will your squad be next fall? And are you a closet Sioux Hockey Fan?
  18. The rumor for about the last 3 years on Marto is that he was going to try play Baseball and that was his best sport. If you haven't heard anything on him you should pick up the local paper called the grand forks Herald. His picture is in there on a weekly basis during football, baseball and HOCKEY season. I hope he comes to UND and becomes a Sioux. I dont know where you lhang out in GF, but I have been hearing about this kid for 3 years. Looks like he is having a great Showcase tourney also.
  19. If your from Fergus falls, have you heard any inside info on Tyson Dowzak. Is UND recruiting him, where will he go. Any insight. I think he fits the UND pro style Defensemen mold perfectly. Reminds me of Smaby.
  20. I dont remember who said it, but one of the Boston players said "we knew we would need lots of ice packs if we beat North Dakota"
  21. They will need a 3rd goalie for sure. Some one that will walk on, with no scholarship money. How about the Bismark goalie Walski. Being we have a soph and freshmen, this goalie would be a third string goalie for practice. As far as Defensemen, my guess is they dont want to bring in a kid, unless they can get him cheap. Remember these scholarships are like a salary cap and they probably dont have much money left. It is so late where do you find a "D" that is uncommitted, that will step in and play next year. They other reason is there are some great d-men uncommitted that we would like for 2 years down the road. Tyson Dowzak(6'5"), Jake Marto, Joe Finley(6'7"). With that said, lets pray for Greene to come back and maybe Bina by late fall or Christmas.
  22. "I saw some college games at Wisconsin and Minnesota, but when I came to UND and saw the atmosphere in Ralph Engelstad Arena, I fell in love with it," Toews said Thursday. "I'm really glad I'm going there." Jonathan Toews
  23. Thanks very much seniors. You showed a lot of Heart.
  24. You can play in the great 8 if you have committed to college. From the great 8 they pick a team to play in the Chicgo Showcase. That team is made up of players that have NOT committed to any college. They want one more chance to showcase those players.
  25. What a GREAT team player. Congrats on a good career Jake.
