  1. Who can remember the 70's anyways. Everything for evryone during that decade is a bit foggy. If poncho lefty was still alive he wouldn't remember anything about the 70's for sure.
  2. Thats because the drinking age is 10.
  3. They should of announced the new AD last week so he could have came to Spring Fest and celebrated his new job.
  4. To anyone who has been watching the USA games can you tell me has Martin and Leapold been dressing for the games and have they been playing or have they been playing a regular shift or PP and PK? Leopold must be on PP and Martin must be on PK.
  5. Buning sounds a lot like Burning. I hope there is a BIG difference in personalties. Does anyone know how Mr. Buning stands on the Fighting Sioux name? He sounds more than qualified, do you think he will use this as a stepping stone and be gone in 3 years?
  6. Maybe we need 2 teams.
  7. Just think if NDSU would have started D 1 hockey in the early 90's. Remember the rumors about Gino being there coach. Just think where they could be today. Probably a middle pack team, that would be a great team every four or five years kind of like Duluth. By the way Sid Hartman said in his column that every team that made it to the frozen four this year received $100,000. Isn't that why NDSU went D 1 so they could get into the tourneys and make money.
  8. Also for sale for $1 at Barnes and Noble. You can also get the World Juniors book.
  9. David Toews was a 6th round pick, number 117th overall. by the Brandon Wheatkings. To fall this far he must have indicted that he may want to play college hockey. The WHL draft was yesterday.
  10. Looks like we have another Goalie. By the way, I was mocking Kessel when I said there wouldn't be a press confrence.
  11. Here is another good reason to be happy that we got Toews over Kessel. I found this on a canadien website. The WHL draft is coming up and there are planty of articles about it. Here is what I found. "David Toews, a highly rated 1990, is expected to go in the late rounds of this years draft. Toews may have been the number one overall pick in this years draft, however Major Junior teams are worried he will follow his older brother Jon to the University of North Dakota in two years." Hopefully he follows his brother. Usually once one family member becomes part of the Sioux family, the rest of the family follows (if they are good enough players).
  12. Congrats Zack. He should of been on the team in the first place.
  13. Once again Belfour is slowing down the high scoring machine from Ottawa. Isn't this about the 4 year in a row that Ottawa leads the league in scoring, only to be stopped by Belfour and the Leafs. The only one to score on Ed was Bochenski. He has been playing great.
  14. Did anyone see the game between Ottawa and Toronto last night? What a great rivalry. Toronto has there number in the playoffs every year. Good work leafs.
  15. They need to crank the volume up big time and follow it with that Rocknroll part 2 song (what ever its called), just like the Minnesota Wild does. And play it the entire time until the puck is dropped. They need to get people pumped up and out of their seats. But then I suppose the people who want a library atmosphere will complain.
  16. To kind of reply to Sicatoka's post the ideal team has 26 total players. For a good practice you want 15 forwards 8 Defensemen and 3 goalies. Dean Blais always had a utility guy like Murphy, Hasbargen, Marvin, Foyt. Last year they were one guy short after Moreland left. With only 18 scholarships, it may be a challenge sometimes to get 26 commited players. You will never see an expensive school like CC have 26 players. This is probably as challenging of an off season as a coach could have. With a huge senior class graduating, and not knowing if Kaip and Bina will be cleared to play, and the other question is if Matt Greene comes back. I am sure inside the walls of Ralph Engelstad Arena they have all the answers or a plan for each case. That is why I am sure Oshie is on hold and although they dont want to, they can always bring in a guy at semester (christmas) break. Maybe they will have Miller play another year in USHL and they bring in Oshie. I think they have a 3rd goalie, but they wont have a press confrence to announce it.
  17. What about Bayda? 3 goals 2 assists in 6 games for Lowell.
  18. I also forgot Jordan McIntyre and Micheal Forney(TRF). I bet the recruiting battle will heat up for Forney soon.
  19. Colleges can't recruit juniors in High school, but the players can go talk to the coaches. Watching the Minnesota State Tourney 3 young standouts come to mind. Jay Barriball (junior) and Taylor Matson (sophomore) from Holy angels and Cade Fairchild (soph) from Duluth East. UND probably doesn't have a chance for the Holy Angels guys, they seem to goto CC or out east. Other young ones are Brady's brother and David Toews (brother of Jon). Also Ed Belfours son. I have no Idea if he is good or not, but I heard he is an up and comer. UND loves them family ties. Another kid Mitch Ryan from Cloquet sounds like he is a great player, but he is probably going to Duluth. Roseau's program is getting good again and look a couple years down the road to keep that pipeline going. Remember the name Aaron Ness. His dad is Jay Ness who played for Sioux in the 80's. Might have been the best Bantam in the State last year. Also dont forget Aaron Marvin and Jordy Christian.
  20. Thats cool. Wish they would build them a nice bowl stadium.
  21. Isn't Soccer season in the fall? This may sound dumb because I looked at the schedule and it is a fall sport, but today they were playing another team. Or who ever was playing had Sioux uniforms on. Can any one tell me who was playing who.
  22. Last night Portage won in triple overtime and McIntyre got the winner. He also set up 2 goals. Portage leads the series 3 games to 2.
  23. I think that in the 80's and 90's everyone put there best players at center. Then the Mid 90's to today coaches realized that if they play Defensemen they will be on the Ice more and that is why you see so many smaller defensemen these days and more skilled defensemen. But off course you still have the BIG tough guys, you need a mixture of both I think.
  24. If you have not seen this, it is from the USHL website Sioux Falls, SD--The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that they have hired Kevin Hartzell as their new General Manager/Head Coach. I dont know copywrite laws, so goto the website to see the rest.
  25. How come there was NO news confrence?
