  1. Can someone put up the pic of Hak after last night's win? I saw it on Twitter...he had both arms raised and was yelling in excitement. It was a great picture; I'm just not very good with all this new fangled technology and posting that kind of stuff.
  2. http://www.mychamplainvalley.com/sports/captain-pattyns-uvm-vs-und-mens-hockey-series-is-a-family-affair
  3. I think Brad noted he didn't expect to see Tomek before November. So then the question becomes whether or not Cam makes the trip. I'm excited to see UND play again. Portland was pretty exciting. For those going to the games...where are you guys sitting? Not sure where I am located relative to other Sioux fans.
  4. I hope everyone in Dinkytown has good car insurance. No telling when the riots might start...
  5. Agreed. Poolman had several passes that were off target and went directly to Bemidji players. Thompson seemed to be fumbling with the puck more than usual. I think a lot of mistakes can stem from the goalie situation. If players are focused on scoring tons of goals to make H's job as easy as possible back there, maybe they take chances they wouldn't normally take. Again, it wasn't the D's worst game ever by any means, and I definitely think it was still overall another good game. It just seemed to be a bit sloppier than usual. Heck, for all we know, maybe some of those players are playing slightly injured. Given the team's current injury status and the large number of injuries we don't hear about until after the fact, it wouldn't surprise me.
  6. I saw on USCHO yesterday that Minnesota's 0-2 start was their worst start in 16 years. I wonder how far back it goes for an 0-3 start?
  7. haha I think I spent a solid 5 minutes mocking it with friends. I swear he got that tie from a decorative pillow my grandma used to have.
  8. Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if they start to get some love in the polls. This is the best BSU team I've seen in awhile. He certainly wasn't the only one. Poolman and Thompson would probably like to forget large sections of this game, too.
  9. That would make sense then. I figured someone here would know the history. Thanks!
  10. As expected, Cam is out tonight. Wolanin is back, but playing LW. Gersich and Janatuinen still out. All info from Brad. Wolanin showed some amazing offensive skill in Portland. Maybe he's played up there before?
  11. Sorry, I was referring to forwards, since that's where we lost the majority of players.
  12. Every single one of our PK'ers from last year graduated except one, and he's out until February. I'd imagine there will be a little bit of a learning curve as guys adjust to new responsibilities.
  13. Janatuinen up with Schmaltz and Boeser since Gersich is out. It's a great opportunity for him to show what he can do. Last weekend, it seemed like he was hustling all over the place every time he was on the ice. Hopefully that strong effort turns into some points for that line.
  14. I don't think Sanderson sits. He looked good on the 4th line this past weekend.
  15. This weekend was a huge positive, in my opinion, even with the tie. The team looked good and very fast. The major penalty kill on Friday was nothing short of amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if UND got more shots during it than LSSU did. It brought a lot of energy to the team. The ability to endlessly cycle in the offensive zone on Saturday was something that we often don't see from Sioux teams until midway through the season. There's a TON of chemistry with these lines, which is pretty awesome considering how many freshman were brought in. I'm pretty excited about Boeser and Schmaltz being on the same team. A lot of times last year, Schmaltz would make a pass that the other guy didn't anticipate and, therefore, wasn't ready for. But Boeser had quite a few passes this weekend that showed a great vision for the ice. I think Schmaltz finally has someone to play with who sees the ice the same way he does. I think there are great things ahead for that line. It's nice to see Sanderson out there. The kid has busted his butt and had a positive attitude for years, and he's finally being rewarded. Though the bench got shortened Friday with Caggiula and Simonson out, the fourth line got a decent amount of playing time against Maine on Saturday. I actually thought Sanderson was more noticeable out there than Olson, and Janatuinen seemed to be everywhere on the ice. I think the most unexpected thing from this weekend was Poganski. It's like a completely different player than last year. He was an absolute beast out there. He's so much stronger on his skates. There were numerous instances when he just bowled through defensemen rather than bothering to go around them. And he won almost every puck battle along the wall. I think he's definitely going to have a breakout season.
  16. I did some more digging...mostly because it's my last shift at work before heading down to the tournament, and I need to pass the time. It's funny that I noted LSSU's offensive against UND last season. They scored 5 goals in 2 games. Maybe I just remember it because Cam started and got pulled. In the season preview article, USCHO noted that LSSU only scored 60 goals TOTAL last season. That's absurd. In addition, they gave up more shots than almost any team in the country. I think their goalie is actually pretty good, but there's only so many times you can bail your team out. As for Maine, the top two scorers turned pro in the off-season. That's not exactly encouraging for a team that finished 10th in Hockey East last year. All in all, it sounds like anything could happen this weekend. Will Cam leave juicy rebounds in the slot all weekend? Even if he does, do you dare pull him? Will the freshman still play as well when the games actually matter? So many questions...it should be fun! Also, I've been informed that using the term 'New England' is incredibly lame to anyone not residing in New England. So, to amend my previous statement...those of us living in the northeastern corner of the United States of America, generally including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, are very pleased with this October game schedule.
  17. All in all, 12 former Sioux made opening day rosters.
  18. It'd be nice to view these games as lackadaisical because it's the beginning of the year, but these games could have huge Pairwise effects come March. LSSU lost to the U18 team in OT on Sunday. Not sure how many players LSSU lost, but they had some decent offensive power against UND last year. It'd be nice if the team generated a handful of goals early to give Cam some breathing room. Hopefully he and Karl are working all week on limiting those rebounds right out into the slot. (As of now, I'm assuming Tomek isn't ready to play.) Maine has had a tough go the last few years. Let's hope that continues for another weekend haha Win or lose, I'm pretty excited to see four games in-person during the month of October. The back and forth travel might be tough on the team, but the UND fans in New England love this schedule
  19. The funny part about that is that it really only applies to this regional. Most of the other regionals could still fit in a Fargo-size arena with extra seats to spare.
  20. Add Providence to that list haha
  21. That second sentence makes it sound as if the reunion is more important than going to watch UND hockey. I'm not sure I agree with this assessment.
  22. Just got tickets and a reservation at the Windjammer. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  23. Panz signed a deal with Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL.
  24. I hope you realize this applies to you as well haha. You have 5 lines of signature (mostly self-promoting links) for a one sentence post. I agree with turning them off completely, though I already did it for my personal profile. Thanks for that tip, jdub.
  25. He's not saying only 7 people don't want a nickname. Just that the 'rally' by the no-nickname folks had paltry numbers.
