  1. Friday - Boeser Saturday - Stecher
  2. yes, he had the puck taken from him shortly after he crossed the blue line into the offensive zone. The guy he creamed is the one who stole the puck from him, so I definitely think frustration played a role. I was watching on NCHCtv during the game, so I replayed the hit several times then to see if I thought it warranted the major. I actually gave Drake slack after the LSSU hit, because he was lined up with the shoulder, and the LSSU player turned his back to Drake at the laSt second. But this contact to the head penalty was just dumb.
  3. It sucks, but I can't say he doesn't deserve it. It was a dangerous and needless hit. He could have made a big hit without leaving his feet.
  4. And probably don't take their goaltender for granted right now. Hrynkiw is doing a great job, but I'd imagine everyone in front of him is doing everything they can to help him out. When you have a goalie like Zane behind you, it's easy to get into the habit of assuming he'll be able to make the save.
  5. I actually mentioned that possibility to a couple Badgers fans we met at the Frozen Four last year. The gentleman replied that he'd spent the last thirty years hating Eades and had no desire to change that attitude now haha
  6. no. Only Hrynkiw and Bob Anderson went.
  7. There was some shoving by players right off a faceoff, and the linesman went down awkwardly. When he got up, he had trouble putting weight on one leg, and he held that leg up as much as possible. Rumor in the press box was that it's a knee injury.
  8. That's what I'm thinking. I have more confidence in Hrynkiw right now than I do in Johnson.
  9. Obviously it hasn't been the toughest of competition, but Hrynkiw looks more and more comfortable in each game. At what point does he pass Cam on the depth charts?
  10. Looks like Western Michigan is going to get the sweep over Omaha. Didn't see that one coming...
  11. True, but most of the fan base doesn't have a media guide (with pronunciation tips) right in front of them.
  12. This happened near the downtown business district. The hockey team is a fair distance away on the south side of town. Horrible for those killed and loved ones. Considering how many people are out and about for Halloween, there could have been so many more victims.
  13. Considering they were on a 14-game winless streak, I doubt an ASU sweep would be necessary to get him out. Crazy to think that program has fallen so low.
  14. Western Michigan handed UNO their first loss of the season.
  15. Good thing, too, or Wisconsin's few remaining fans would be ready to tar and feather Eaves.
  16. UND women just beat Minnesota!!! Way to go, girls!
  17. I just remembered that this kid was originally committed to Harvard. Hard to imagine he's in the intellectually incapable group. Discipline in the classroom may be another matter.
  18. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/3871173-und-mens-hockey-sanderson-works-his-way-lineup Love this article on Sanderson. He's had great energy and persistence this season. There were a few times in Portland and Vermont I thought he'd get his first college goal.
  19. It's hard to say. Sure, he seemed to fit right in on the second line against Bemidji, but he also fit right in to the style of the 4th line while in Portland. It might just come down to line chemistry and where he is needed.
  20. If I remember correctly, we had this conversation on SiouxSports when there was a Gopher player who left this early a year or two ago. That guy at least stated he was leaving because of academics. I think a lot of kids can underestimate beforehand how difficult it is to juggle it all.
  21. Agreed. He may not be the fastest skater, but he's definitely going all in with effort. He had a wide open net on Saturday with a 2 on 1, but the pass was just a little too far in front of him. I was about ready to go ballistic for his first career goal.
  22. Couple plays that really stuck out to me this game: On a UVM power play during the second period, Vermont had a wide open net. Hrynkiw wasn't going to get over in time, so a sioux player frantically dove and blocked the shot in the crease. I didn't see who it was, but it's that kind of all out commitment that wins games. Another instance in the third period when Vermont had a wide open net. I (and everyone around me) thought it was a guaranteed goal. Out of nowhere, Hrynkiw makes this amazing glove save and gets a whistle. Unreal. Overall, this series was a blast. Love seeing 4 games in October!
  23. I know it's an even bigger issue with the vote being this week, but can we please leave the nickname discussions to that specific Siouxsports forum topic? I'm not trying to be rude, but I've been intentionally avoiding the seemingly endless back and forth debates, and now it's infiltrating the hockey topic.
  24. Thoughts from the game: While the wood benches aren't the most comfortable for 2 1/2 hours, it's a pretty cool barn. The place was mostly full and had good energy. Only had bathrooms on the upper level though...that's weird haha Met a fair number of Sioux fans. About 15 of us were grouped together, which was nice. I'm pretty excited for Hrynkiw to get the shut out. He wasn't challenged a ton, but he made a couple key saves. He definitely looked more comfortable than last weekend. Heck, he looked more comfortable than Cam has at some points. I couldn't believe it when I saw 5 forwards on the PP. Chyzyk may have gotten that goal, but Boeser's amazing dive to hold the zone was vital. There were a lot of weird calls (or non calls) from both the refs and linesmen. They didn't have their best night. I think some of the fisticuffs in the third can be related to noncalls earlier in the game. The Sioux didn't cycle quite as well as they did in Portland, but they still dominated puck possession. I'd be interested to know how many neutral zone turnovers Vermont gave up. Overall, a great game. Good pace and lots of fun. See some of you kids at 'The Gut' tomorrow.
  25. Thanks Goon.
