Your bs gets a bit old. You wanted to get rid of Hakstol. You criticize Berry. What do you know about coaching or what it takes to become a champion? Had UND played UMass, missing those key players, I’m pretty sure the first person calling for a coaching change would have been you. Some of the people actually believe you and something called the GOBC could influence coaching decisions anymore than any of the rest of us. Sandy is an excellent coach. His players didn’t get the job done. Berry and Hakstol have proved to be excellent coaches. They and Sandy have been recognized as outstanding coaches by their players, peers, and the NHL community. I dare say winning an NCAA championship in hockey is as difficult if not the most difficult as any sport. Stuff happens. For those whose lives are dependent on the success or failure of a sports team I can’t help that. However, our program has remained as one of the premier programs in the nation for 40 yrs. A big part of that is our outstanding coaches from Gino to Blais to Hak and now Berry. It is really that simple.

Our coaching staff recruited an outstanding group of student athletes. They did a great job of keeping them healthy this year. They were able to manage some of the very best talent in college hockey and get them to play unselfishly with a team first priority. They helped this team get in a position to win it all. They have won it all before. This group also believed in this program, each other and our coaching staff to stay together this year and take another shot at a National Championship. That should be all the evidence one needs to appreciate the fact that we have an outstanding head coach and staff. I doubt anyone who has played or coached at the college or professional level in any sport doesn’t understand how difficult that is. The 5OT game result wasn’t related to coaching. Coaching was a factor in getting the team in a position to win and it was clear UND dominated in OT. UMD is also a well coached team with great players. Those who talk about coaching changes are the same ones who wanted to get rid of Hakstol. The players and hockey community around the country have recognized and praised the coaching we have been fortunate enough to have at UND over the past 40+ yrs. that is also one of the reasons UND remains a collegiate hockey power. Following games on UND sports on Siouxsports has been fun but those whose only solution to the frustrations of competition show only a shallow if any understanding of what makes a great coach. We are fortunate to have a great coach and coaching staff at UND.

For you to get lost for starters.

Yes. Have done it to high school FB players in State Championship FB game.

I’m not sure the best place to put this topic is with anything to do with recruiting. Just a thought.

Can’t assume wins for games not played.

Over the years, unless it seems like a clear mismatch, their media guys often picked the opponents thinking that would motivate the Bison. As players I doubt they care and if they do, they need to refocus.

Yup. We will need our best game of the year. No turnovers, limit coverage mistakes, protect Schuster and no penalties or mental mistakes and I like our chances. Probably will face the best running QB we have faced this year.

I believe it is a mistake to think past Saturday’s game regardless of the opponent. Yesterday should have made it clear that there isn’t a team that can’t beat UND or NDSU on a given day. If NDSU were to win and win out, SIU could do the same, UND could do the same and you have a three way tie. Saturday’s game is a win or loss that counts no more than the Saturday wins over Ill State or WIU.

I’m not so sure. Most younger people don’t get into college FB until middle school and beyond. The rivalry has been an afterthought to most Bison fan’s because the game wasn’t being played and their focus was Conference rivalries and championships. Even those not under rocks weren’t exposed to anything resembling a rivalry, or for that matter relevance.

I’m helmet to helmet. Pretty clear.

No excuse for turnovers. I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in comparative scores. Otherwise one might write off the Bison. We are a good team but need to get better each week. I think we learned in the Big Sky that on any given weekend..... same goes for this league. We are going to have to figure out how to eliminate those long pass plays especially when we are out of position. Be patient. I wouldn’t worry about rankings or comparisons except for how to deal with WIU. Every team we have played has been able to make big plays and score. These teams aren’t Morningside. We need to get a stop first series second half, eliminate mistakes and we should be ok. Go Hawks and thanks for the updates.

From everything I have heard over the years, Brookings is a great college town. Hobo Days were one great college party regardless of which town.

Then don’t run that “new stuff” Saturday. He’s healthy, he plays. If he’s healthy he will be pissed if he doesn’t play and he should be. You don’t worry about next opponent until after Western Illinois. That’s how you get beat. Only focus right now is on ourselves and Western Illinois.

No. You need everyone who is healthy to play. The only game to focus on is West Ill. Any player who has been out for weeks needs reps to get timing back and adjusting to speed of game and getting hit. Brock is a veteran so he will hopefully be fine from the first snap. Future opponents are well aware of his ability and versatility. Whatever wrinkles used game to game won’t be less effective because he plays Saturday.

Also the teams we beat beat #1 and #3 when they played them.

This should be done by every team college or pro across the nation that feels it important to make a statement about social justice.
