Then don’t run that “new stuff” Saturday. He’s healthy, he plays. If he’s healthy he will be pissed if he doesn’t play and he should be. You don’t worry about next opponent until after Western Illinois. That’s how you get beat. Only focus right now is on ourselves and Western Illinois.
-
No. You need everyone who is healthy to play. The only game to focus on is West Ill. Any player who has been out for weeks needs reps to get timing back and adjusting to speed of game and getting hit. Brock is a veteran so he will hopefully be fine from the first snap. Future opponents are well aware of his ability and versatility. Whatever wrinkles used game to game won’t be less effective because he plays Saturday.
-
Also the teams we beat beat #1 and #3 when they played them.
-
I don’t believe so.

This should be done by every team college or pro across the nation that feels it important to make a statement about social justice.

First two games are a great lesson for young players, coaches and fans. How important the offensive and Defensive/LB play and special team play is. The key to Schuster’s play has been protecting the ball and no sacks. He has a great group of receivers. One TO in 2 games is good regardless of your experience. His int was the one terrible play in 2 games. Maag was open and Skokna 7 yds further outside had no one near him. He has over thrown some open guys but overall has been very effective. Seems to have a very mature demeanor. Reminds me of Reed Manke. Doesn’t make mistakes and remains focused. This is also a great lesson for those who think firing coaches is the answer to struggles. Patience is important as we rebuild programs. The coaches patience and belief in these players and their abilities is paying off. No easy games this year, this team has great potential. Need to stay healthy. Go Hawks.

Most people wear masks. Easy to find seats a good distance from others.

They need to get by us first. NDSU still champs til someone beats them. I agree their coach doesn’t have the personality of his predecessors, but most of recruiting is done by the assistants. Nothing special out of their QBs last 2 games. Might need another game or 2 to see if their QB and offense improve. SDSU may be team to beat this year in conference. Saturday’s games with us and SDSU and NDSU and SIU should give a better picture.

I didn’t miss anything. I understand everything I need to about reps and game day experience, as well as the importance of getting backups reps and experience. I don’t need to restate my opinion.
-
Then I guess we disagree about what’s important. Let em yap. No coach should make decisions based on an opponents big mouth. Bubba needs to prepare an entire team for continued success. They just got their butts kicked. Schuster had a great game which should give him confidence. Vaughn also needs reps and dare I say needs the reps as much if not more than Schuster. Everything this team does should be with a focus on winning each game, and ultimately making the playoffs and winning championships. If you start worrying about an opponents trash talking you have lost focus on what’s important.

The starters had a great game. This was the most complete game UND has played in years. We had no turnovers, gave up no sacks. Fr QB did nice job. Receiving corps is outstanding and deep including TE. Olin was dominant. After first series our defense played well. CB’s were soft especially early and we had trouble covering back out of backfield early. Secondary had a couple of blown coverages but overall kept the play in front of them. Punter and KO solid as was coverage. Nice KO return. We caused and recovered 3 fumbles and had 2 ints and a number of nice pass breakups. The starters did their job. This is a team game and the best thing for the team and building the program is to give your reserves valuable playing time. Starters leave knowing they dominated their opponent. Reserves excited to get valuable experience. Nothing to gain leaving starters in last 7 min in a blowout. If we lose a key player in a blowout you will understand why I agree with getting the subs in.
-
What does that accomplish? We kicked their butts. No need to rub it in. Getting reps for your backups is important for a number of reasons. We have a number of twos who have little or no experience. This is a physical league and we need to get them reps to help them adjust to the college game in the event guys get hurt or we lose guys to COVID. Coaches did a good job of getting lots of players reps today. Hopefully, better prepares us for the rest of the season.

The Red Pepper is open isn’t it? Added incentive.

I received them today.

Has anyone received their season FB tix yet?

On their own.
-
No. They just haven’t been that good.

I’m always concerned when we lose players before graduation. Rutten was an excellent athlete. Placed in Mn State HS track meet in 400 meters as 7th or 8th grader if I recall. Also leading scorer on her HS BB team. Was also an A student. Had been contributing as a Hawks VB player. Sad to see she is gone. I hope she got her degree.

Anyone know what happened to Lydia Rutten?

You don’t want to confuse anyone with scientific evidence and recommendations from world experts. Just a wild guess but I believe I have more experience with Covid patients than the folks who are trying to derail another subject with politics and misinformation. Moderators please move my original post suggesting an idea to get more fans in to our athletic events and all subsequent related responses somewhere else or to the trash bin. Thanks.
-
I certainly didn’t wish to derail another topic with politics. I’m not going to get into a debate with anyone who hasn’t kept up with the reason for masks. My point wasn’t to start a debate about Covid. Neither of you two folks are going to teach me anything about health care, including infectious disease or immunology. Too many topics on SiouxSports have been derailed by politics. My point wasn’t about lock downs or masks ( although the evidence is clear it decreases transmittal, though isn’t 100% effective). My thought was would this be an opportunity to bypass restrictions and allow more people to attend and minimize risks to others. I’ve stated my opinion without politics and I don’t wish to turn this into another train wreck.
-
If you are afraid of vaccines, take your teddy bear with you. It isn’t a big deal. I was trying to think of ways more people can get in to UND athletic events. No one is forced to get vaccinated and no one is forced to attend the event. Why would anyone else care if others would take advantage the opportunity?
-
Sorry to hear that. Might that be the least of your problems. No tickets? No ID to get into a pub? No passport to travel? If someone wants to try to decrease risks to other attendees and at the same time increase the opportunity for others to attend an event and you aren’t willing to participate, then don’t go. That’s one of the privileges of living in a free country. I’ve traveled into communist countries. This doesn’t compare.
