He’s faster than UND’s guys, but I wouldn’t agree he is head and shoulders better as a WR. I will take UND’s receivers. They are athletic, catch in a crowd, and they block well. Considering how often his speed made a difference ( I know it can) this year, I will take the complete package guy every time. Your speed guys needs the QB to get him the deep ball. That requires protection for the QB and receiver to beat the DB of find the seam in the zone. I think it’s tougher than the 8-15 yd pass plays that take less time but require better timing to get ball to receivers on the break. The fastest WR we ever had was Norm McGee. All- American sprinter in track and qualified for the Olympic trials as a sprinter I believe. He could out run any defender but QB has to adjust to elite speed and it’s surprising how often these guys are overthrown or under thrown. I’m not sure there is a right or wrong answer but just my opinion. -

I agree we have a good group of WR and will benefit from bigger linemen (as long as they aren’t slow). Our kicking game was better. The JMU game we had a couple of kicks into end zone. I thought despite the couple of missed XPs FG kicking was also better. The one thing about our punting was they were seldom returned for many if any yards. Room for improvement certainly. Most teams punters were 5-10yds longer than ours. Our punters should be going to a punting camp. -
He is an excellent blocker, and big guy with good hands. Bright guy. Fits in nicely. SDSU wanted him.
-
The concept is that your 3 down linemen tie up the offensive linemen, disrupting their schemes and keep them off of our linebackers who make plays.
-
That would be ourselves. We must be more consistent and can’t beat ourselves. With improved oline play and improving defense we can do that.

I coached BB at GFC one year under Dick Vinger and Pat Sullivan. Vinger said “When you win,say little. When you lose say less”. We got beat, didn’t matter, not sure why they ran the play, but, it’s best to let it go. -

I think teams saw him as one dimensional. They didn’t think he would hurt them as a runner. That allows teams to get an extra guy in the box which slow down run game. We must continue to improve oline and dline play especially in run game. -

I didn’t agree with the timing of inserting Quincy with the exception of goal line play. I have thought the other 2 plays interrupted our momentum. The fumble really hurt. The other run went no where but there was no room to run and he was moving too slowly. Easy for me to second guess now but I would use him at the start of a new series or a short yardage situation. I hope he is patient enough to allow himself to development and I hope staff is also patient enough to give him the time needed. -

Not sure what your point is. Schuster didn’t have a great game but he had a pretty good year. He just isn’t a QB that has yet shown he can carry the team on his back. The gunslinger type with a cannon arm seems to have made Bubba a bit nervous in past. He has preferred the game managers like Studsrud and Schuster. Studsrud was a better running QB but Schuster has been a much better QB at same stage of development. One important thing we don’t know is the level of confidence the team has in the QB’s. All of our QB’s have the opportunity to improve and get better. It’s Schuster’s job to lose but a guy who can carry the team, make his teammates better and will be at their best against the best competition can become the starter. Maybe Schuster, maybe Quincy and possibly Feeney if his high school play can adjust to the speed and violence of the college game. -
Well then you always had a date for homecoming when the sheep were spoken for.

I think Schuster has done a decent job. However, he will need to continue to improve. Whomever gives us the best chance to win should be the QB. He hasn’t yet shone he can carry a team. Hopefully he can become that guy. If I’m an outstanding HS QB I would take my chances to become that guy who can make all of the throws, is a threat to run and can carry an offense. The first Int wasn’t his fault. The second one was as bad as it gets if the DB doesn’t hurt himself. He had a good year. -

Don’t forget the W-2. (I’ve never met a wealthy person who has a need to compare W-2s). -

As long as he would like. He isn’t considering anything other than staying the course and getting better. He isn’t that old but his age would be a factor if he ever wanted to move up. I believe he is here for the duration of his career. -

I think he let up. Afraid to rough punter. I thought if he lays out he blocks the punt. -

He fumbled first play, scored second play and quit running third play. If O line doesn’t open holes for running game it won’t matter. Terrible throw by Schuster on int but not time to quit on anyone yet. -

The 2 fumbles really hurt us. We had something going on those drives. We need points off this one. -

They aren’t “scared”. Nothing to be scared of. It’s a FB game. Tight would be more accurate. Basically getting beat on LOS both sides of the ball. -
What happened to the Rutten girl. She would have been a senior.

Sorry, I was referring to Hawks game. I don’t care what happens at NDSU.

Saturday’s game was sold out.

Are the Lanes sisters still on the team?

Missouri State vs UND 4/24/21 1st Round Playoff Game
iramurphy replied to SiouxFan100's topic in Football
Both of those throws were decent throws. Sometimes a tougher throw cuz you know you have a TD and you have time. Also a tougher catch than most understand. Receivers have a tendency to start for end zone before securing the ball when they are that open. We have fewer dropped balls this year.
