  1. I didn’t agree with the timing of inserting Quincy with the exception of goal line play. I have thought the other 2 plays interrupted our momentum. The fumble really hurt. The other run went no where but there was no room to run and he was moving too slowly. Easy for me to second guess now but I would use him at the start of a new series or a short yardage situation. I hope he is patient enough to allow himself to development and I hope staff is also patient enough to give him the time needed.
  2. Not sure what your point is. Schuster didn’t have a great game but he had a pretty good year. He just isn’t a QB that has yet shown he can carry the team on his back. The gunslinger type with a cannon arm seems to have made Bubba a bit nervous in past. He has preferred the game managers like Studsrud and Schuster. Studsrud was a better running QB but Schuster has been a much better QB at same stage of development. One important thing we don’t know is the level of confidence the team has in the QB’s. All of our QB’s have the opportunity to improve and get better. It’s Schuster’s job to lose but a guy who can carry the team, make his teammates better and will be at their best against the best competition can become the starter. Maybe Schuster, maybe Quincy and possibly Feeney if his high school play can adjust to the speed and violence of the college game.
  3. Well then you always had a date for homecoming when the sheep were spoken for.
  4. I think Schuster has done a decent job. However, he will need to continue to improve. Whomever gives us the best chance to win should be the QB. He hasn’t yet shone he can carry a team. Hopefully he can become that guy. If I’m an outstanding HS QB I would take my chances to become that guy who can make all of the throws, is a threat to run and can carry an offense. The first Int wasn’t his fault. The second one was as bad as it gets if the DB doesn’t hurt himself. He had a good year.
  5. Don’t forget the W-2. (I’ve never met a wealthy person who has a need to compare W-2s).
  6. As long as he would like. He isn’t considering anything other than staying the course and getting better. He isn’t that old but his age would be a factor if he ever wanted to move up. I believe he is here for the duration of his career.
  7. I think he let up. Afraid to rough punter. I thought if he lays out he blocks the punt.
  8. He fumbled first play, scored second play and quit running third play. If O line doesn’t open holes for running game it won’t matter. Terrible throw by Schuster on int but not time to quit on anyone yet.
  9. The 2 fumbles really hurt us. We had something going on those drives. We need points off this one.
  10. They aren’t “scared”. Nothing to be scared of. It’s a FB game. Tight would be more accurate. Basically getting beat on LOS both sides of the ball.
  11. What happened to the Rutten girl. She would have been a senior.
  12. Sorry, I was referring to Hawks game. I don’t care what happens at NDSU.
  13. Saturday’s game was sold out.
  14. Are the Lanes sisters still on the team?
  15. Both of those throws were decent throws. Sometimes a tougher throw cuz you know you have a TD and you have time. Also a tougher catch than most understand. Receivers have a tendency to start for end zone before securing the ball when they are that open. We have fewer dropped balls this year.
  16. Nobody crapped their pants. We got beat on the line of scrimmage. NDSU has a very good defensive front 7 and a very good offensive line. I can’t explain the let down but at this level the coaches don’t fear their opponents and don’t get intimidated. Players don’t tend to be afraid. We didn’t play well. NDSU arguably played their best game prior to yesterday. They are capable of beating anyone they played. They don’t matter right now. We play James Madison.
  17. I bet if you watch the film there were at least 2 more.
  18. Could be. Hope for the best.
  19. I didn’t see the replay so I don’t know that I could comment on severity nor the prognosis. I don’t believe one can diagnose “high ankle sprain” without getting the mechanism of injury from the injured athlete and doing an exam. You may be right but not sure that we can conclude anything yet. My “not exactly” comment was based on the inaccurate conclusion that crutches and a boot mean “high ankle sprain “. It seems you thought there was a difference between a sprain and torn ligaments. A sprain is stretched or torn ligaments. The severity is based on which ligament or ligaments and how badly torn.
  20. I would require any school where student transfers to reimburse the former school the cost of the scholarship. Exceptions would be grad transfer or if schools give the player a release. I would do it for all sports.
  21. Craig Ludwig, Brad Berry and Goalie Jon Casey played for Stars. Troy Murray, Ed Balfour, and Dave Christian for Hawks but I’m not sure Christian played this game. Good UND hockey trivia question: name the 6 former UND players on the opposing teams in the last Northstars home game.

Unfortunately your point of “the hot hand” is a reason many good coaches are let go for the wrong reason. There are many organizations who fail to support their employees/coaches who have been successful and even some who have won National Championships, World Series Titles, Super Bowls etc. Coaches don’t forget how to coach from one year to the next. Hakstol proved he could coach. So has Berry, so has Sandy. For that matter so did Lucia. The best leaders/GMs/owners understand that and will continue to support good coaches regardless of the impatience or unrealistic expectations of their fan base. The professional levels, collegiate levels, and high school levels are all different of course. At all levels, there comes a time when even good coaches have to be let go. Unless there is inappropriate behavior by the coach, it should never be solely due to parental pressure, or fan discontent. Lastly, the GOBC has no more influence in these decisions, especially hiring and firing than other fans which in the long run, unless the opinion is overwhelmingly widespread, is very little influence.
