Great Sioux crowd. Going to Denver for the Frozen Four was like going to a wedding and the bride, who is you favorite niece, doesn't show up. It was like UND wasn't in this year. Too bad but it happens.

Bison 101 is perceptive and gives a very good endorsment of Rob. Those who know Rob and work with him have been very impressed. He isn't a yes man but he will voice his opinions at the proper time and in the proper forum. He will be loyal to the president and has always (and is to this day) very loyal to UND. The committee showed a lack of leadership by not asking him to apply in the first place. The word was that Purpur was going to apply and was the frontrunner. That may have kept others from applying. According to what was published, the job is open until filled. To me that means it is still open. Why the committee would not want to interview a viable candidate at this time, tells me they need others on this committee. No matter who the candidate is, you should be looking for the best person for the job. As to another poster's comments that Bollinger would be circumventing the process, if the job is open, I don't see how. It may be inconvenient for the committee, but if that is the case, those who are put out should get off the committee. I would never make decisions at UND based on what McFly or others at the Forum might say. This is too improtant of a job for our athletic department to make another mistake.

He has and I have also spoken with him. He was very gracious. He is a bright guy.

Phil isn't on the committee. Look at the others who are. I believe the biggest problem now is Ralston and I believe she has lobbied to close the applications. I have been given pretty good info that Phil is not opposed to Rob this time but either way he isn't on this committee. Her time to move on is long past. She was a pain to Coach Lennon and his staff and should not be part of the UND family. No matter how this turns out I will lobby the new AD to get rid or her and President select Kelley to get rid of her. She seems to be devisive and does not show she has the best interest of UND nor UND atheltics at heart. The committee chair also should be helsd accountable.

I believe there is a person of interest who would make an outstanding AD and has all of the necessary experience and qualifications. The reason someone may be reluctant to go through this scam of a process has more to do with how some on this committee treated one of the applicants last time. One of the applicants was told that his experience at UND. Becasue his work experience was mostly at UND, it basically ended his application process. This applicant of interest probably is concerned that if these committee people would treat a loyal and talented UND applicant like that, what would they do to an outsider. Most outside applicants who have good jobs don't wish to subject themselves to this type of low class mistreatment by the power hungry "jock sniffer types" who are trying to enact the revenge of the nerds by their role on these committees. If Rob Bollinger is the "person of interset" Rob Bollinger has excelled at every job he has held and is a proven fund raiser and team builder. His role in rebuilding the UND football team to a national power was huge. He is the man responsible for building the Fighting Sioux Club into what it is today. He is respected and liked by virtually every person who has met him. He has contacts in the college and professional athletic circles from his years of coaching, his years as Director of the Fighting Sioux Club and in his tenure as an asst. AD at UND. He thinks outside the box and has a great vision for the possibilites of what not only UND athletics could be but how UND athletics can enhance the status of the University of North Dakota. He is loyal to a fault and will back the decisions made by his President. He will fight to improve the budgets of his coaches and will actrively assist The Fighting Sioux Club and the Alumni office in fund raising. He will have the back of the president and his coaches. He will be a great supporter of all UND athletics including Women's atheltics and the non revenue sports. He is the type of guy you would go into combat with, want at your side in a dark alley and be the god parent to your kids. If there s a better candidate, I would like to meet them and that is who should be hired. If this committee has not sought his application or won't accept it, then those who oppose that whould not be working at UND. Had Rob Bollinger been our AD last week I would bet anything, Rob would have found the funds to get the band to Madison. He understands how those are no longer the "little things" that are improtant in our move to D1 Athletics.

Thanks. I will email him immediately.

Does anyone have Kelly's email, phone or fax numbers?
-
Don't need them anymore, got 3.

Tickets were $64 front row second level. Great atmosphere. Anyone who hasn't been to a Wisconsin FB, Hockey or BB event at Madison it is worth the price of admission. Fans are involved and cheers are coordinated and all fans know them. The old guy behind the penalty box (Phil) holds up signs and gets the whole crowd going. Their band is one of the best college bands in the country and makes the event a blast. An elderly Packer fan went to Madison when Brooks was their QB and told me what a great atmosphere it is but you need to be there. I went to a FB game last fall and it was a blast. Their band and fans make it a great experience.

Need 3 lower bowl. Will pay for the 4th to keep a set of 4 or 2 sets of 2. Will also pay for three in a suite if anyone needs more bodies to get one.

Bollinger was preaching "think big" years ago. Don't be fooled by a resume. Buning had a good one and it didnt' work out. You look at someone based on their resume but you hire them because they are the right fit and the right person for the job. If there is anyone better for this job right now than Rob Bollinger I would be surprised, but if there is, that is who they should hire. It sure isn't anything on a resume. The resume gets you the interview. Hopefully, this time the right person will get the job.

We must ask him to apply and ask President select Kelly to meet with him. I will stake whatever I have that if were would be fortunate to hire Rob as the next AD, we will be thankful for years to come. I think he would do an outstanding job just ike everything else he has worked at. He is loyal, bright has been a coach and was the main force in establishing the Fighting Sioux club. He is liked and respected by the hockey coaches, FB, BB as well as non-revenue sport coaches. I think more than anyone he will lead the athletic department into the Division 1 transition with class and success. I think he will be a credit to UND and enhance the reputaion of UND both athletically and academically.

Oshie is not only "very good" but he can score, pass, set up plays, forcheck, backcheck, hits hard and could sell popcorn. He anticipates plays as well as anyone I have seen and is a great passer. Oshie will be an outstanding player in the NHL. He is a hell of a playmaker and one of the best college players I have seen in 37 years of watching college hockey. He is maybe the most complete forward we have had here. Deserves to be the Hobie Baker winner unless the East has someone better. Hard to compare. We have had faster guys, but I am not sure many better. He is worth the price of admission.

Why would you even think of "those jerks" and how someone else acted two years ago? I doubt there were any of them who clapped who have an IQ above 50 and enough of a personality to get through a weekend without a snootful of booze. This has nothing to do with them, with Bina or any other fans. It shouldn't be a point you make when a kid gets hurt this badly. It shouldn't be part of this discussion. You just need to pray this kid is OK and leave it at that.
-
Which would be a dumb-ass thing to have done. You get tossed in the box for two minutes and give up a shorthanded goal. Then at least while you watch someone else advance to the Final Five you can puff out your chest and say you protect the goalie. The best way is to light the guy up the next chance you get. It is better to be patient and tough than dumb and out of the tournament.
-
Is it my imagination or did we get off the subject here?
-
His job wasn't in jeopardy for a couple of reasons. You don't hire someone and not give them ample time to turn the program around. There isn't an AD right now so there isn't a person for any whiners to go whine to until we get a new person in place.
-
I would play any D1 or D2 team to get games. We don't have anything else to play for in the next five years what difference does it make? A week off vs U of Mary, I would play them. We would be crazy not to if we don't have any other games.

USD should be #1 and host. UND should be #2. I was disappointed to see Bucky not having any fun Sat night. He seems too cranky and that doesn't work well with women. They won by 20 whatever and they didn't seem to be having as much fun as they should . I have thought they have played too tight the last two years. Their play in the finals last year was as bad as I have seen a UND (with that talent ) team play. They seem to be afraid that if they make a mistake they will get benched and you can't play that way. They seem to missing the intangibles they had in the past and that includes playing loose and having fun. The other thing is, that the rest of the league and D1 have definitely closed the talent gap from the glory days of UND/NDSU and occasionaly Augie, SDSU or USD. I didn't see USD play but those that did said they have as much if not more talent than UND. Langen and Kimbrough are very good. They handle the ball well but seem to have lapses on D more often that they should. They need consistent outside shooting by more than one kid and they need to be able to shoot without fear of being benched. Should be fun NCC and regional tourneys.

That would be the role of the AD or an Asst. AD. Josh has enough to do already and is doing a great job.

Doesn't your same argument about the investment that you use about your business college also apply to UND's Engineering College investment. We can't go back because we have invested in the campus! Certainly from the fiscal standpoint, quality of programming, and tradition UND has mush more invested in their Engineering than NDSU has invested in their Business program.
-
We don't have architecture. UND's Engineering has a long tradition of excellence and won't be traded for something we already have. Aeronautical Enginerring should be at UND because of the Aviation program. UND has a much bigger and better college of business but NDSU won't give theirs up because they were losing prospective athletes and students when they had to sell them on getting their classes from Moorhead State. UND' s Chemical Engineering fits well at UND. Civil, Mechanical and Electrical are good at both places but bigger at NDSU. If anything their should be some sort of compromise to move the programs so they are offered at only one of the two schools. Nursing and Business could be part of the discussions. I don't see Chapman compromising on anything that doesn't give his school the advantage. That is his M.O. Not criticizing, it is just who he has been and I don't see that changing.
-
They can and should, but Clifford and Loftsgard are no longer the presidents. There is no leadership from the Governor's office. He will do whatever it takes to advance his own and his party's welfare. (no I am not a Democrat or even close). We now compete with each other for not only the engineering students, but nursing students and business students. It doesn't need to be a cut throat competition. NDSU has done a number of very good things and improved not only the public perception of the school and their mission but has improved the quality of a number of their programs. Those kids who look at those programs are the same kids UND is trying to attract.

This is one of the most glaring examples of why UND and UND athletics overall are struggling. Too many people do not understand the inroads NDSU has made in the last 5-6 yrs. If you don't get out much ask those who live west of the Missouri. UND needs to be associated with whatever vehicle will get us the best exposure in the western part of the state. The western part of N.Dak. has many more UND than NDSU grads but the Bismarck Mandan area is growing and there are many new businesses with ties to neither school. We need to make sure the new relationships are with UND. NDSU has done such a good job of marketing both athletics and academics that they could very well be the larger of the two schools by next fall. We have done nothing to couter that marketing and it hurts us. We have allowed the student enrollment in an outstanding College of Engineering to drop while their enrollment in an also outstanding School of Engineering thrives and it is now their largest College with something like 3000 engineering students from what I am told. (better check the numbers cuz I could be way off). We have been the big dog in the state for so many years our Alumni office and our Public relations staff have not done their job in making sure this didn't occur. We have gottne "fat and happy". In athletics, because FB, Hockey and WBB have done so well we have become complacent. We hired the wrong AD and we have not put enough emphasis on our other sports like baseball, track, and VB. We let MBB hit bottom and are still struggling. I have heard nothing but good things about the new president. I have heard he has a lot of the charisma of Chapman but in addition has integrity. We need to solve the issue of a new AD. We need to focus on the person who will sell UND athletics to the non-UND folks and re-establish ties to UND supporters and Alumni. It is a daunting task. That person will need to increase revenues quickly and determine which programs we can support, which we should add if any and which if any we drop. We can't afford to let programs die a slow death. We need to upgrade the staff in enrollment services and make sure that we are getting the best HS school kids in the state and the area. I can't get them to come to our community where only 5 yrs ago over 10% of the graduating class of over 200 went to UND. This year we lost kids who wanted to go there until they made a visit to campus and weren't even shown the Englestad arena nor the fitness center. We must get Kelly on board ASAP. He has a major problem to deal with with the Dean of the MD school and the UND image both as a University and our atheltics. He will need to make the right choice for AD so that he can concentrate on establishing relationships with the legislators, our students, the GF-EGF communities and key leaders in the state and surrounding region. I also think is is a travesty that Bollinger isn't an applicant for the AD job. Whomever we hire needs to have the class, loyalty, work ethic and charisma of Rob or someone like him. We can't afford to make the same mistakes we have in the past. I received a call from a friend when Bruce Smith's name wasnt' forwarded to the State Board. Although it should have been, the right guy got the job. I hope we don't wait until a new AD is chosen then try and derail the process after the fact. Hopefully there is a good candidate in the group.
